My ipad no longer shows up as a listed device on my computer

Several days ago my computer received a Windows 7 update. Since then my ipad no longer shows up when I hit the Start button and go to "Computer". Up until recently it had been listed as a portable device. I switched USB ports, but that didn't help. I did a System Restore to just prior to the Windows update, but that didn't work either. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

With iTunes open do Control S and see if that shows the iPad.
Another thing I've had to do on my Windows computer is Stop the Apple Mobile Device Service, the restart it.
To do this:  In the seach bar on Windows, type Services
A box will open and you choose Services (it has a big round gear next to it)
Another box will open with all the services your computer manages
Click on Apple Mobile Device Services
Stop it
Restart it
See if your device shows up now.

my ipad no longer shows up in itunes

Keep in mind, the new iTunes is in a different format.  To revert to a more familiar format:
In the top menu bar in iTunes, select
    1.  View
    2.  Show sidebar
Is the device now on the more familiar left hand pane or still not recognized?

my ipad and my i phone no longer show up as devices in I tunes. I have so far shut down and restarted the PC, ipad, iphone, uninstalled and reinstalled the itunes program, done the ''reset all" in settings on my ipad, changed USB ports. Any suggestions?

On your computer, try going into your control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall iTUnes, apple mobile device service, apple application support. THen redownload and reinstall iTunes and see if it works.

  • Iphone ipod and iPad no longer show up in itunes

None of my devices show up in the iTunes "devices" list anymore since I updated to OS X 10.7.4 recently whether plugged in via USB or wireless.  Using iTunes 10.6.1.  I have never had any issue like this before.  I have iPods, and iPhone4, iPad, and Apple TV 1st gen and none of them appear.

  • IPad books not showing in iTunes wish list

Some time ago I added some iPad only books to my iTunes wish list, however they do not show up.
They are still included in the count of items in my wish list and the price to buy all but I can't see them at all.
Does anyone know how to either view them or clear my wish list?

Just want to bump this topic. I've got the same issue: added some books to my Wish List in the iTunes Store via the iTunes app on my MacBook, and they don't show up when I look at the Wish List. I then deleted every item in the Wish List, but the Wish List still lists two items even though the Wish List is empty. There doesn't appear to be any way to delete items in the Wish List if you can't see them. Weird!

  • My Ipod Touch 4G  is showing up as a storage device in my computer but not on Itunes.

So I have a Ipod touch 4g. It is showing up as a storage device when I connect it, but not in Itunes or any other third party program. My IPod has connected to this computer before on this version of ITunes and worked fine. Now, it's just not. I really need help. I have tried everything, reseting my Ipod, the services with right clicking computer and clicking manage, reinstalling Itunes (2 times) and restarting, nothing works. I have read tons of other peoples discussions and nothing worked. I have checked for viruses and uninstalled all Third party programs I have, nothing seemed to work. I really need help.
    Thank you!

  • IPad no longer shows as a device in the left column of iTunes

This makes it really tough to sync...I am unable to use wifi synching. I just want to be able to sync like I used to with the USB cable plugged directly into the iMac.
Here's what I've done to attempt to fix it:
    --restarted iPad
    --restarted iMac
    --confirmed latest version of iTunes
--unplugged and replugged in USB cables (after testing cables); note, it's plugged directly into the iMac
It still doesn't show in devices. Interestingly enough, neither does my iPod Touch (a different USB cable, also plugged into the iMac).
Has something changed in the way things are done in iOS 5 and I have to change a setting to make the devices visible in iTunes?

Nothing has changed that would affect the way the iPad is recognized in iTunes. Here is the link to Apple's support article on this issue.

You probably have done all of these steps except for....
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier only: Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service.
Here is another troubleshooting article that might help.

  • My iPad no longer shows previous purchases in the App Store

I recently moved from Australia to the US, have synced changed my store location too and since then I can no longer access previously purchased apps.
The ones I have installed are fine and working, however all the purchase history has disappeared, is there anyway to get this back?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers

If you purchased the apps using the account from Austraila, you would have to change back to that store and be signed into whatever ID you were using in Australia in order to see your purchased apps.
Have you tried changing the store back to the Australian Store and then look in the purchased tab of the App Store?
    Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID
    Tap your ID
    Tap View Apple ID
    Enter your password
Go to country/region in the popup window to change the store

  • ITunes no longer shows 'Podcasts' item under iPhone device section.

    Stats:
    iPhone 4 (32GB)
    iOS version 4.3.3
    iTunes for Windows 7 (64-bit) Version 10.3.1.55
I have iTunes set to manually manage my music and podcasts. Previously I had done this by clicking on the "Podcasts" item under the iPhone device section. Here I would delete podcasts I had previously listened to and drag new podcasts from the "podcasts" item under the Library section. As of today, when I connect my iPhone to my computer, it no longer lists a "podcasts" item under my iPhone in the Devices section.
Now I can't fine a place to delete old podcasts. I also do NOT want to use iTunes sync function for podcasts. Anyone else having this issue?
    -Mike

Just found out. You select the podcast page on your iPhone 4. You drag your finger, from right to left, over the screen, just like you do to delete e-mails. The delete option will present itself. Touch the delete button and confirm. The podcast will be deleted.

  • My reminders to pay bills no longer shows up on the right side of my computer. Please help!

I had a application on my computer, I do not know where I received it from, but it would tell me when certain bills were due. It would be reoccuring all through the year. It no longer appears on my lower right hand task bar. Please help!

Was this program in Firefox, or was it a separate Windows Application? If it was a Windows application, I'm afraid there isn't much I can do to help, but we can see. Try to restart your pc.

  • I have been using my ipod classic as a hard drive whilst travelling, but at least half of the photo folders no longer show up when accessing the Ipod in My Computer

    Hello All,
My concern is growing rapidly that i may have lost a large chunk photographs, i take some solice in the fact that when looking at the properties
of my Ipod the correct amount of memory is still being used thisa is the same when looking at memory usage in ITunes, however i do not seem to be able to
    access them.
Could this be a FAT32 storage problem as this is the current format i have the Ipod in? should it try converting? Could this be an issue from using windows?
or could the files somehow have become hidden folders?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the main ipod screen in itunes check the manually manage ipod box.
I would personally keep the tracks on my laptop, the ipod HDD is less stable than the laptops.

  • IPads no longer appear/sync in iTunes 11.0.4

Since iTunes 11.0.4 update (OS X 10.8.4), all the iPads no longer appear as devices in iTunes and thus won't synchronise.
iPod classic & nano still show up when connected and sync. fine.
The iPads no longer show up either via WiFi or USB connection: 2 x iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad mini.
Their backups have also vanished from Prefs -> Devices.
Don't see any logs appear when they connect via USB.
Tried connecting an iPad to a MacBook Pro running iTunes 11.0.3 and it showed up fine.

    Fixed!
Downgrading to 11.0.3 didn't help, but it meant I could re-upgrade it again.
Downloaded the installer from Apple rather than via App Store and bang - all the iPads are now seen again.
All the iPad backups are now shown again too, including the gen. 2 iPod touch that I've not synced for ages (because all the apps I used to use on it no longer support its version of iOS).
Strange.  Will download the full installer from now on.
