if you can convince them that it broke on it's own
or because of a manufacturing defect

  • MBP Screen cracked 'on its own'..

    Quite literally.
Bare in mind this happened well over a year ago, in March, and apple continue to dismiss me. I kind of understand, they can't prove I didn't drop it, however even so, I am curious as to why on earth this could have happened.
    MBP is a Mid 2012, 13" 2.5Ghz.
I was using it on a wooden table. It was wearing a speck hardcover case bought from the apple store.
It was getting fairly hot, enough for me to be uncomfortable resting my wrists on it, but not enough for it to power off. Was running a little slow. A small, thin crack appeared on the black frame, on the left hand side of the screen. I turned the MBP off, leaving it open, and the following day the screen had continued and now ran around the right hand top & bottom side of the black frame and running through diagonally into the middle of the screen.
The only things I have found from meticulous searching online are that perhaps the bezel is a touch too tight?
I looked after my MBP, wore a case and I don't touch the screen.
Any idea's how on earth this could have happened?

There is more than just the bezel being too tight...you said the MBP was in a hardcover case, and was getting very hot.  The hardcover case was acting as an insulator retaining the heat generated by the MBP.  The MBP aluminum case is the major part of the heat sink for the internals, especially the processor.  If the heat is not removed, the entire unit heats up, as you note, which causes thermal expansion.  ALL things expand when they heat up and contract when they cool down.
And, all things expand at different rates when they heat up.  So, the MBP heats up, the different pieces, the case, the screen, expand at different rates.  If the screen heats and expands more than the case restraining it, the stresses in the glass will buildup.  At some point the stress has to be relieved.  Either by increasing the cooling, shutting down to stop heat production, or by cracking.  Your screen sounds like it relieved the buildup stresses by breaking.
That is why Apple is probably taking so long to resolve this...it cannot be proven you dropped/damaged the MBP, but by retraining the expansion of the screen with a hardcover case Apple is not likely to feel they are responsible.  They should have, however, warned the consumer that the case requires different usage patterns so the MBP does not get so hot.
    Just some thoughts.

HELP! My ipad screen is showing some kind of "snowy-white noise TV effect" it looks kind of "grainy". This happened when i was reading a pdf an zooming in for a better view, now this "snowy, grainy" screen is also showing up in the home screen...This ipad is new, about 2 weeks with no drops or accidents whatsoever... I'm thinking of replacing it... responses greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
but it is possible youhave a hardware defect and will need to return it.

  • What should i do with my ipad because it fell down and the screen cracked but its still functioning

what should i do with my ipad because it fell down and the screen cracked but its still functioning

Up to you whether you want to get it serviced. If you don't, I'd suggest putting on a screen protector to help hold the screen together and try to prevent further damage. It's likely that it will eventually fail at some point, but you could get lucky and have it continue to work for quite some time.
If you decide you want to get it serviced, Apple does not repair iPads, but will replace the entire iPad for a flat fee. If you have AppleCare+ on the iPad, the cost will be relatively minimal; $49 in the US. Otherwise, see the Service Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/service/faq/
There are independent iPad repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipad repair".  You can also look for parts and instructions and do the repair yourself. Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPad serviced by an unauthorized shop or perform your own repair, you will get no further support from Apple.
    Regards.

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up

When I'm working with my Ipad it locks on its own and every several minutes I have to unlock it. Help please

If your iPad was work provided there may be options that they locked out. For example, a privately owned device can be set to never auto lock (last I knew anyway) but it's not uncommon for work or school provided devices to not have the 'never' option.

Is it possible that you or someone who knows your iCloud sign on went into the Find My iPhone app and erased your device via iCloud? Because that is what that message is saying.
Have you tried to sign on with your Apple ID and password?
Was it online prior to this incident happening?

  • TS3681 I restored my iPad and then i clicked "Restore iTunes backup". It is finished but on the iPad screen it says connect to iTunes. I connected it to iTunes but it says the same thing. What should I do?

I restored my iPad and then i clicked "Restore iTunes backup". It is finished but on the iPad screen it says connect to iTunes. I connected it to iTunes but it says the same thing. What should I do?

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port. (Make sure you have the latest version of iTune on your computer)
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
