When I press the home button on my iPad the screen gets a little brighter but doesn't come on and none of the icons are visible.I also do not get the red swipe strip. Is my iPad screen faulty?

i have connected it to itunes like i was told to do and it wont do anything because its locked with a passcode and its frozen on the lock screen and will not let me enter myt passcode and after a while it just shuts off, it has been doing this for almost 48 hours. I was told to hold the home button and power button to shut it down and that I could then restart it and it would work... Nothing has helped, What can I try???

Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.
If that does not resolve, restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If all else fails, take the device to Apple (or whomever provides support in your country) for evaluation and possible replacement.

screen does not showing anything. I tried resetting by hitting the home button and power button for a few seconds but did not get anything. I can hear the charger ding when I plug it in and and unlock the screen by guessing because I cannot see anything and click icons. updated to the newest IOS

Try reset a few more times.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

The simplest operation your Mac can do is start up with the Option key held down. The code is all in ROM. It uses a One size fits all resolution to light up the display and draw an icon for each potentially bootable Volume.
The most effective thing your Mac can do when confused is to start up using the Shift key. It does one pass of Disk Utility "Repair Disk" then boots up with minimal extensions loaded and ask you to login. But if your Mac is really sick, it may never get there.

I have the same issue on my Ipad Air. Screen will not rotate, I have reset the settings, still only displays in the portrait mode. A couple of interesting things though. a couple of days before it completely locked up into portrait I would have to turn the ipad off and hold it in the orientation I wanted because it would not change orientation after I was in an app.
Also, I just played a Netflix video and it was in landscape mode.
Any ideas?

IIn settings there is. Check mark by 'lock rotation' . Is thisreverting my screen from rotating? If so, how do I unlock it?

Do you see an icon in the upper right corner of your screen that looks like a small lock with a circular arrow around it? If so that icon is telling you that you have screen rotation locked and the screen will not rotate. To turn this off depends on the version of iOS that is on your iPad. The latest versions of iOS have the Control Center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Control Center and look for that icon. Tap on it to turn it off or on.
Your iPad may also have the side switch set to lock rotation. This switch is on the side of the iPad. Toggle the switch and see if the icon for Rotation Lock disappears from your screen.

In the past when I have updated successfully, the spinning circle would show me an indicator of time left on the update. I no longer have this Indicator. The circle just spins and times out and nothing happens. How much free space do you have? If it is low, installers may not be able to run properly.

It definitely sounds like your Nano needs a new battery at this point. You can have Apple replace it for a flat fee, send it into a third party service center to be replaced for much less, or you can purchase a new battery online and swap it out yourself if you feel up to it.

Apple service centre employee told me that they do not have this 14 day offer in India.
And My mac book pro is taken in by Service centre people to run test etc and I will be informed the next day if they accept it as a fault or not ?
I feeling ridiculously bad.
