My IPAD thinks it is an American!

I bought a brand new IPAD2. Silly me to have declined an offer from the store to configure this unit. I thought it would be a breaze.
After much searching, I have finally convinced my IPAD that it is a Canadian IPAD (despite having clicked on Canada at the very begining, I had to go into the App Store settings to prove it again).
Except that the App Store Icon is bringing me to the American App Store. As a result, I can't buy anything because, as my IPAD helpfully points out, "This Apple ID is only valid for use in the Canadian Store".
There is no explanation or help on how to GET to the Canadian App Store.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Try logging out of your account by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if the App Store app then correctly shows you account's country.

You can't merge accounts or copy content to a different account, so anything that you bought or downloaded via the old account is tied to that account - so any updates that those apps get you will only be able to download via that account. You can change which account is logged in on the iPad via Settings > Store

  • I live in Somerset, UK, but having returned from a trip to Germany, my Wifi iPad thinks its location is in Germany.  Is there any way to correct this? I am new to apple conventions, but thought this was an automatic update.

I live in Somerset, UK, but having recently come back from a trip to Germany, my iPad thinks it is still  in Germany.  Is there any way to correct this?  I am new to apple conventions, but thought this was an automatic update when the iPad locks on to a local Wifi hotspot.  Any thoughts out there?

Thank you all for responding - much appreciated, but none of the advice has shifted my location from Germany.  Time Zone is shown as Lonon, Region Format is shown as UK, and Reset Network Settings seemed only to switch off the Wifi connection.
I'll leave it at that I think, and make do with the iPad thinking it's in Germany.
    Best wishes,

  • HT4623 My iPad thinks its's up to date and still running on iOS 5

My iPad thinks its up to date when its still running on iOS5 - Does anybody have any ideas on how to download?

If it's a first gen iPad then it only supports up to iOS 5.1.1

  • My iPad thinks I have downloaded a movie but I haven't.

My IPad thinks I have downloaded a movie but I haven't?  What do I do?

What makes you say that your iPad thinks it has a movie on it? Where are you seeing evidence of this?
Did you do a search for the movie? From your home screen swipe to the right and type the name of the movie in the search field. Does it appear in there? If it does show up, tap on it and it should open in the videos app.
If it doesn't show up - and you think the movie should not be on the iPad, reboot the device and see if the evidence of the movie goes away.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • IPad thinks it is connected to a dock connector = no sound

Over the past few days, my iPad 2 will suddenly lose sound. When I check the audio output, 'Dock Connector' is always checked. Unfortunately, I don't owe any dock connector nor has my iPad never been connected to one. I read elsewhere that this may be a 30 pin connector issue. I tried cleaning the 30 pin connector slot out as suggested elsewhere but it didn't really help. The issue usually resolves on its own but it is annoying nonetheless. Anyone else having this problem & how did you resolve it.

I had this exact problem with my iPad 2, and what I did was gently (gently is the key) jiggle the 30-pin connector with a small screwdriver, like you get in those computer or eyeglass repair kits. I ran the screwdriver along the length of the connector, and the sound would suddenly re-appear at certain points, and then disappear again when I removed the screwdriver. I kept gently probing the connector with the screwdriver, and jiggling it slightly up and down. It seemed to work better when I jiggled it downward (toward the back of the iPad). At one point, the sound came back for several minutes, and I thought I had fixed it, but then the sound went away again. Finally, I pressed slightly harder on the connector downward (again, toward the back of the iPad) and held it for a few seconds, and that seems to have permanently fixed it, at least until it happens again. Based on the results, I would say that either the connector gets a bit loose when the charger is removed abruptly in an upward direction (toward the front of the iPad), or there was a short in the connector that probing with the screwdriver eventually cleared. I felt like I had nothing to lose, since I had brought it to the Genius bar and they said the fix was to get a new iPad, and because I was out of warranty, it would cost $299. I didn't think I could possibly make it worse with the screwdriver, so I gave it a shot.

  • Moved house but iPhone/iPad think I am still in old house

I have recently moved house, about 2 km from my old house, yet both my iPhone 5 and iPad 2 (wi-fi only) think I am still at the old location.  This is apparent in any app that uses the GPS function, such as Maps, Google Maps, Wundermap, Saga and Foursquare.  I have been in the new house for a week.  Anything I have to do to get all my IOS devices to correctly recognise where I am?

It's the location of your WiFi access point that is causing the wrong location. Presumably, when you moved you took your WiFi router with you?
That router is in Apple's database of locations at the old house. In time, your iPhone (and others around it via crowdsourcing WiFi hotspot locations) will report your routers location as having moved to where it is now.
There's nothing you can do to speed up this process, except make sure your iPhone's Location Services are turned on, and it connects to this WiFi router regularly.
Your iPhone should report its correct location using aGPS alone if you turn off WiFi when it does its initial location look-up.

  • My ipad thinks i am in wales

Both my and my wife have ipads, on seperate Apple ids, which think they are in Abergavenny. I have been told this is a router issue, but we have two routers in the house, one on a plusnet account, the other bt, and changing from one to the other does not seem to make any difference. I am intrigued by this, rather than worried!

Not all iPads have built in GPS.
Cellular models usually have a GPS controller that gets accurate positioning data from satellites (when in clear view of the sky). It can take 12.5 minutes for satellites to give an accurate lock so iOS uses Assisted GPS…
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS
That means cellular towers, wifi access points, bluetooth and GPS may be combined to give a 'best guess location' - apps can ask request levels of accuracy which is an attempt to reduce battery usage.
Devices without GPS use wifi geolocation (I suspect Bluetooth LE is used too), this is less accurate…
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_positioning_system
The wifi access point location, ID & MAC address is saved in databases at Apple & Google (for example). Your iPad scans for any visible networks & then reports the signal strengths & ID info to Apple/Google. They provide a location based on that. If access points move it can cause issues with old data. Some access points may also use random or cloned MAC addresses, which can cause issues too.
Apple collect this data via the 'Settings > General > Diagnostics and usage'. I think this may under in Privacy on iOS 8? If you have that enabled on other iOS devices it may lead to Apple or Google correcting the visible network info in your area which could eventually lead to you seeing the correct results.

  • My iPad thinks I'm in PA instead of MO

When I do geolocation with my iPad, it thinks I'm in Middletown, PA instead of Springfield, MO.
When Apple was using Skyhook, I was able to go in and submit a correction with my MAC address. How would I go about doing that now that Apple is doing the geolocation itself?

    HI,
Interesting article here regarding geolocation / Skyhook and accuracy, or not.

  • IPad thinks its connected to a Tv when it isn't.

Whenever I try to play a video online or off on my iPad 2 I get a standard airplay message that the video is playing on a tv. However my Apple TV is not plugged. I tried watching something from the videos app with wifi and cellular disabled and got the same message. I updated to ios6 the daytime came out but the issue just started. Any ideas how to fix this?

I have a user who is having this problem as well.  Has anyone been able to solve this.

  • IPad thinks headphones are plugged in

    Any ideas?

I got water in the headphone jack and the ipad wouldn't play sound.  I tried using headphones inserted and removed to trick the ipad and it didn't work. I couldn't find anything fine enough to clean out the jack.  I tried resetting the general settings but it kept saying headphones instead of volume.
What worked was leaving it upside down, headphone jack down in a bowl of rice overnight so it would absorb any moisture.  That worked!
If you can't get it working, best to head into an Apple store and they will clean out the headjack port with blast of air to remove any dirt/ dust.
