My iPad touch pad is requiring harder tapping. This is first iPad. Any solution?

Start with a reboot, hold both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
Then make sure your fingers are clean when touching the screen, and if you have a screen protector on the screen see if you can remove it and does that help.
The screen is not pressure sensitive so taping harder really doesn't have any effect unless you are not making good electrical contact with the screen.  The iPad uses capacitance technology that is entirely elecrical state change dependent.  So if you have a screen protector that can interfere and cause that behavior.
If none of this helps, it may just be an aging unit, and would do well to be tested by the techs at an Apple store genius bar.

  • Touch Pad of Satellite P50-A-M13 doesn't work anymore - Solution

    Hello *,
before someone should have the same problem, I wanted to share my problem and my solution here:
    Information about my system:
I have installed Windows 8.1 Professional and Scientific Linux 6.5 in Dual Boot on my Toshiba Satellite P50-A-M13.
    _*Problem:*_
The Touch Pad suddenly doesn't work below Windows 8.1 Professional anymore, the mouse pointer vanishes after a reboot. You can't deactivate/activate the Touch Pad with the F5 key (without pressing the FN-button) anymore. The white LED of the Touch Pad doesn't work anymore. Another operating system (in my case: Scientific Linux) in Dual Boot doesn't recognize the Touch Pad anymore after a reboot, too. So it isn't working below the other operating system anymore, too. It looks like a hardware defect since it affects more than one operating system.
    _*Additional information:*_
If you attach an external USB mouse to your Toshiba notebook, the Touch Pad will work again, you can activate/deactivate the Touch Pad via the F5 key (without pressing the FN-button) below Windows 8.1 again, but the white LED of the Touch Pad still doesn't work and doesn't turn off or on. Same below another operating system in Dual Boot. The BIOS doesn't offer a feature that you can activate or deactivate the Touch Pad there.
    Reason:
I had the problem that the feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1 Professional was activated. The driver for the Synaptic Touch Pad got replaced by a Microsoft driver in the background automatically.
    _*Solution:*_
_Keep the external USB mouse attached and start Windows 8.1 if it isn't started already. Then deactivate feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1. Then reinstall the Synaptic Touch Pad driver from the download page of Toshiba website again. Then reboot Windows. The Touch Pad should work then again. And never, never activate the feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1 again!_
    Many thanks, Jana

    Thanks Jana for this post!
I also noticed that sometimes Windows updates could break the driver functionality...

  • Wi-Fi Freezes on iPad - Any Solutions ???

    Can anyone please help?
I have had an iPad Version 1 for about 9 months with no problems.
A couple of weeks ago I installed the new iOS5 operating system.
My wi-fi has worked fine for a couple of weeks, but since yesterday it has completely 'frozen'.
It works for a few seconds after switching on the iPad, but then completely freezes, and wont work. The Wi-Fi symbol is present on the iPad to show it is connected, but the circular symbal rotates at the side of it as if it is trying to connect. I occasionally get the message 'No Internet Connection'.
I have tested my wi-fi with my mobile phone and the connection is absolutely fine.
I have tried 'sync'ing my iPad several times and even done a complete 'reset' several time and it says that it has been reinstalled correctly.
However, when i turn on the iPad, the wi-fi works for a few seconds and then freezes again. If you reboot it it again works for a few seconds and then freezes.
Am now tearing my head out over this. Has anyone got any solutions or suggestions, or would this appear to be a 'hardware' fault and in need of return to authorised repairer??
Any help would be gratefully accepted.
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Hi Jim,
Thank you so much for your response and advice.
I have rebooted my wireless router as you instructed and my iPad now seems to be working ok with the wireless connection.
I know it would have seemed an obvious thing to try, but I did test the wireless router with both my wife and my mobile phones, and they both worked perfectly and uninterrupted connection, so I assumed that it must be the iPad at fault.
I guess the configuration of the iPad wi-fi must be completely different to that of our HTC phones, and hence threw the glitch.
Anyway all is fine now, for the time being.
Thank you so much for your help. I only wish I had posted my request for help yesterday, and saved hours of messing around and numerous restoration attempts.
    Best wishes

  • My Iphone5 power button seems to be permanently pressed. It will think that it is being held down even though I am not touching it and also turn the screen on when I am not touching it. Very hard to use the phone. Any ideas?

There is no rhyme or reason to when it does this. Sometimes, it will be fine for a few hours. Sometimes, I can't use the phone as it exists out of apps automatically and consistently comes up with the "slide to power off" screen. It's draining the battery. Apple replaced my screen a few months ago and the problems have only occured since then but they have got progressivly worse. Any ideas before I take it to the genuis bar and get told it's going to cost me an obsence amount of money to fix a problem I haven't caused? No water damage or droppage on the device either and I have a thick case on it. Case doesn't affect/help the problem as well.

    Hi jemerrifield,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that your external display being used with your Mac Pro is flickering along the top of the screen.  I completely understand how this can be frustrating, especially for being a new computer.  I would however like you to follow some troubleshooting steps that will also help determine if the issue is with the display you are using, cables, or the Mac Pro.

I have disabled mouse touch pad. Having restarted laptop I noticed that LED indicator for mouse touch pad was turned off and mouse pointer accepts finger moves/clicks on touch pad (it was enabled) until I logged on when LED turned on and mouse touch pad was disabled . • Helix Touch pad - right click issue

    Hi,
I bought my Helix about a year ago.
Today, suddenly the right click just stopped to work (I mean the button on the right-down area of the touch pad).
It's a HARDWARE problem: first it was not clickable, and now the button goes down, but without the normal "click" sound. Seems like it is stuck down and the area around the right button isn't functional to click anymore.
First I thought it was some dirt inside, but it doesn't seems to be a dirt problem... the button just stuck
    Any thoughts?
Should I open it? If so, what are the procedure?

  • Changing touch-pad sensitivity on on HP Pavilion dv7

    Hi,
I'm having issues with the sensativity of my touchpad, which seemed to start occuring after a windows update about a week ago. My touchpad is now ultra sensative, and I only need to glance a hand over it whilst typing and either the cursor will move and reposition itself in a random part of the text, or things will accidentally be opened etc etc. I have also noticed that the left and right click buttoms at the base of the touchpad have now swapped in functions as well, ie left click now acts as the right click, and vice versa (this also happened to the mouse after the update, but that was able to be fixed).
I have gone into the 'Control Panel' and searched under the 'Mouse' - but there are no device setting options nor anything to deal with a touch-pad issue.
I noticed this is a problem with a few other users, which has been solved by downloading the latest Synatpics software. However I'm not too sure that my laptop is using this software - I can't find 'Synaptics' under my 'Programs and Features'.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! The details of my laptop are as follows -
    HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
    Product number: XB100UA#ABA
    64 bit
    Windows 7

    Hi,
Synaptics is listed as the driver software for your notebook, so first of all, try downloading and installing the latest version of this on the link below.
    Synaptics Driver Installer.
If this does install Ok, restart the notebook and then see if you now have the options to configure the device as shown in the document Here.

my touch pad on mac pro is hard and make noise

Do you have another mac to compare? Is it just yours, or you just find them hard and noisy in general?
You can enable tap-to-click, where you won't need to "press" it, you can just gently tap to click in System Preferences > Trackpad > Tap to click.

The touch pad on my Mac book Pro is very sensitive and causes changes without hardly touching it. Can this be changed or does it need replacement?

    Touchpads are just that, touchpads.
You touch it and something happens unfortunately, you can't rest your fingers on it while your waiting to do something else or it triggers a response.
You either have to train yourself to remove your fingers and keep them suspended, causing wrist, arm and hand pain, or plug in a standard mouse where nothing happens until you press the button, like years of ergonomic experience has shown is a much superior method.
Touchpads are likely less expensive to produce and breakdown less often under warranty, so just like less expensive to produce glossy screens, it's a cost cutting measure they were  incorporated into our devices and required users to adapt to sweeps, gestures and other useless actions for little benefit.
I've owned my Early 2011 MacBook Pro for a year now and have only used the trackpad once, the mushy keyboard perhaps only a couple of dozen times. Preferring external devices where I can rest my digits and nothing happens until I apply pressure or use a scroll wheel.
Needless to say my keyboard area is in brand new condiiton, remains covered from the original packaging, protects against dirt and spills too.
Mac's keyboard and trackpad area tend to wear out pretty fast, like in about 3 years, making one consider getting a new machine long before it physically fails.

  • My ipod touch is only partially functional, requiring multiple taps to do anything, with apps crashing.  I performed all Apple troubleshooting steps, including reset and restore, but no change in symptoms.  What should I do now?

My iPod Touch (4G, 8Gb) is only partially functioning, requiring multiple taps on icons to do anything, and apps are crashing often.  There is a thin white border that appears around icons when tapped once, then I must tap twice to activate. (that's 3 taps for what used to take 1)  I successfully completed all the Apple troubleshooting page steps, including reset and restore, but there was no change to its condition.  What can I do now?

Now that I think aboput it further, You may have an Accessibilty feature turned on.
    - Try triple clicking the Home button to see if that will allow access to the iPod so you can go to Settings>General>Restrictions to turn off all the Accessibilty features.
    - If not then connect the iPod to your computer and turn off the features. See:

  • Keyboard and Touch-Pad Not Working After Having to Install New Hard Drive

I had to install a new hard drive in my HP Pavillion DV9700t that has Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  After going through the recovery process with backup disk the built in keyboard and touch-pad do not work.  During the installation, an error message came up saying something along the lines of "the drivers are not supported by this verison of windows because they are unsigned."  The drivers that had that error were "hpqkbfiltr keyboard filter driver," "HP remote control HID Device," and "hpqkdfilter driver."  I tried to update the drivers for the keyboard from the hp website, but the keyboard and touch-pad still do not work.
My question is, where do I find the digitally signed drivers for the keyboard and touch-pad that Vista won't flag and disable?
    Help please!

    Sparkles,
    Thanks for the suggestions.
When dealing with MS Fix It, I was choosing run.  Upon further investigation on that site, there really isn't a scan that applies to my issue anyways I tried the .NET Framework repair tool, and that seemed to work.  It told me to try re-running what I was having issues with, so I tried running the Windows PowerShell again, but again was faced with the following message "windows update standalone installer encountered an error: 0xc8000247." I went back to the .NET screen and hit "Next" because it didn't work, and that responded by saying they were going to submit logs to Microsoft.  I won't hold my breath on that one.
I'm to the point where I honestly don't care anymore.  I have no idea what to do, because doing a clean install with the discs HP sent me isn't going to help because they are just recovery discs, and not an actual Windows disk.  This is the second hard drive I have had to put into my laptop and use those recovery disks on in the last 3-years.  The built-in keyboard hasn't worked during that time frame on either hard drive.  I don't think the recovery disks I was sent install properly.  Not sure where to go from here.  I spent way too much money on this laptop years ago having it custom built to handle all of my drafting programs, so I don't want to just kick it to the curb.  I was looking into the possibility of just replacing it, but I cannot stand the Windows 8 interface.
I guess I should have fixed the issue with the keyboard on this hard drive before loading all of my programs.  Between the recovery disk install, formatting of the hard drive, and installing all of my programs it took well over 12 hours.  Not really looking forward ot that again Then there's shockwave and flash and all of the other goodies that my recovery disks won't restore anyways.
Sorry if this seems like a negative post, but I'm just tired of trying to no avail.  Maybe I should just take it somewhere to get it looked at, but I can't see them being successful if the recovery disks won't help anyways.
    Thanks for you help,
    MadBuch
