My iPad was at 100% and then it suddenly shut down.

Once my iPad shut down, I thought my battery died so I sent it in for battery replacement. They also charged my iPad for me. I brought it home and enjoyed my iPad until it completely ran out of charge. I plugged my iPad in and thought it was charging. Once I plugged it in, it turned back on. After the apple logo appeared and I got to my lock screen, the iPad shut down and kept restarting. Once I unplugged it and plugged it back in, it stopped restarting but it wouldn't charge. The iPad said it was charging but it never gained any charge. I plugging it in with different adapter and cable and the same thing happened. When I took it back to the people who replaced y iPad battery, they charged it to 3% and gave it back to me and it worked just fine. When I got home, I plugged it in to charge and the iPad just restarted and never gained any charge. What should I do now?

Disconnect all peripherals.
Try an SMC reset.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

And you are quite persistent, Menu Boy, in offering pernickety and pointless prattle, in response to a "support page" on iPad's buggy Pages App.
Let's summarise, for those reviewing this threadless thread for app support..
Mobile pages works reliably for simple docs, especially creating letters and Menus for Microsoft's Kindy canteen (even on special days with nice big pictures).
When importing more complex docs and/or working with larger creations, it is prone to randomly corrupting files upon re-opening, along similar lines as Word (running on a PC).
So, Menu Boy, do they let you sneak into classes every now and then? What is the secret to their training? "Say after me, if any I.T. product works just some of the time, that's a job well done, and if something randomly stops working, we call that the user's fault... And if they complain, we call them names."

    1) Has an option to repair the system and leaves the disk partition unchanged?
    2) It resets the notebook to factory condition?
    3) There is an option of recovery disk which I should specifically ask for?

  • I was using my Macbook when it suddenly shut down, I was updating a program so I had the charger on even though there was still 90 percent of power in the computer. I tried to turn on the computer several times but is not working, what can I do?

I was using my Macbook when it suddently shut down, I was updating the operating system so I had the charger on even though there was still 90 percent of energy. I tried to turn my Mac several times but it doesn`t turn on, also the green light of the charger is not working, it`s looks like the charger is dead too. What`s wrong with my Mac?

    Try resetting the SMC.
MacBook and MacBook Pro with a battery you can remove
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer
To reset the SMC on newer Mac portables with a battery you cannot remove
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • IMac freezes in mid application and then can't shut down or reboot

I have a iMac which is about 6 years old with 1 GB RAM, 60 GB hard drive and operating on OS 10.4.8 (Tiger). It has about 16 GB memory free as well.
It was running quite nicely until about 2 months ago and then had probems with it running slower and slower while completing applications, and finally it started freezing in mid application with the spinning beachball of death. The computer has to be shut down by pulling the power. Sometimes I can restart it with the power button and . But this latest time, it did not even start from the C drive with the OS X disc in place.
I tried the simple things like fixing permissions, and then I had tried re-loading Tiger both with archived files and also a clean install. Both times the machine worked beautifully for about a week and then would go through the same sequence, with slower processing time, and then the eventual terminal freeze up.
Any suggestions to salvage this machine? I did take it in to an Apple authorized dealer, where they backed up my files and did the clean install. But I don't have a diagnosis. Is the hard drive corrupted? Anything short of replacing the hard drive (which I am not capable of doing myself) or buying a new computer? I loved this iMac, it has an amazing screen, and despite its age was still a very neat machine. It would be great if there is a solution out there.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There is no such thing as a Mac OS X clean install as my FAQ explains:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607614
However, your machine is right at the age, or a little beyond where the clock battery may begin to die. This can cause slowdowns and other issues.
The hard drive could also be problematic, as some of these can die in less than a year, while others can last as long as a decade.
The more you install Dashboard widgets, the slower your machine will get, and that can cause problems too. See my FAQ on other slowdowns if neither of these seems to help:

  • I close Firefox and then try to shut down my computer, but Windows says that Firefox is still running. It does not show up as running in Task Manager. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with same result.

I have also had problems starting Firefox. I click the icon and nothing happens. That problem is intermittent. The Windows message that Firefox is still running after I have closed the Firefox browser keeps occurring and I do not know how to remedy this.

The one thing that is locking up fire fox is the plug ins. You have to check to see if a plug in is locking up firefox first of all.
To see the processes press : CTRL+ALT+DEL. then click the tab marked "Processes" Then look for Fire Fox and click on it. Click the Yes button when the warning box show up.
Then do the say for "Plug-in Container" I believe that is called.
this is because all ads are now flash ads or video ads. They lock my computer up all the time.
When the CTRL+ALT+DEL are pressed. Keep this minimized and you can see if your computer is running at 100% memory near the clock. If the box is totally green, you are running a lot of programs on your system. Check the processes and find out what is not needed. Also watch your virtual memory. Rule of thumb is 1.5x total memory.
Then now it would be able to shut down the computer the right way.
    Hope this helps you out.

Take it to Apple for evaluation.
FYI, this is the iTunes for Windows forum, the issue has nothing to do with iTunes.

  • TS3274 iPad closes during searches and games.  Just shuts down to desktop.

During a search my iPad will close out and go to the start up screen.  Or while playing Plants vs Zombies it will shut down and go to the start up screen.  Very annoying.  Please help!!!

If you restored the device and you still get this, you probably need to get Apple involved. Make an appointment at a Genius Bar and let them take a look at your iPad.
Did you drop the iPad, have some sort of accident with it?

    - All apps I installed are gone

    - iOS stays in 6 (upgraded from 5 to 6 last week)
Do anyone have this experience before?

        Hi FrankAtCommunit,
That definitely sounds strange and I haven't seen any other customers go through this experience. I have listed this experience to Apple so they can advise if they've had other reports.  I suggest that if you had a backup on iCloud or iTunes, you restore your phone to get that data back. Let us know if this gets your content.

I was charging and updating my mini ipad last night when it suddenly shut down and will not turn on since then. What do I do to turn it on again?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

You can try recovery mode to see if you can revive the iPad.

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
