My ipad will not shut down or connect to the internet if i try and go to settings it will not open

I tried to get on my ipad this morning and it wouldnt connect to my wifi, i then tried to go to the settings and see what is happening but it will just try and then go back to the home screen. I then tried to shut it down and am unable to.

Try a reset:
1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together)
2. For about 10 seconds
3. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)
4. Ignore the red slider

  • Re: what causes an error "not connected to the internet" when I try and e-mail photos

I'm having the same problem with my PhotosmartC3180.  When I try to e-mail photos I get a "not connected to the internet"  message despite having a web page open at the same time.  I run the Print & Scan Doctor and it says everything is running perfectly.  Conversely, I cannot see how to save a photo at e-mail quality and I don't want to cut and paste huge pictures that will slow down the receiver's e-mail. Thanks in advance,  Wayne

    Hello WayneSchlapkohl,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are looking to Email a scanned photo, but do not want the file to be to large. Are you using HP software when you get the error "not connected to the internet" ? If so, What is the Operating System installed, Windows, including version, e.g. Windows 7 or Mac, including version, e.g. 10.8?
Lowering the DPI or resolution will help keep the file size down, if you have an option for that in the software.
Also, what is the Email client are you using, MSN, Gmail, etc?
    Cheers,

  • What causes an error "not connected to the internet" when I try and e-mail photos

I have an HP printer and trying to e-mail photos and get message "not connected to the internet" I can go thru the entire process but when I go to e-mail..this is the message i get..I'm not using a HP computer and have Comcast...any help would be appreciated...also is there anyway  to upload them to some other photo site?

    Hi 123sd,
Thank you for the response. Your last post has me a bit confused so I need to ask some further questions:
Which printer do you have? The Officejet J4500 printer or a Photosmart printer? If you have a Photosmart printer, which one do you have?
How is the Photosmart printer connected (USB cable or wireless)? If you have the printer connected wirelessly, have you tried setting a manual IP address and manual DNS servers? If not the steps can be found in this post which also has screen shots. Please don’t worry the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.
Have you enabled the web services on the Photosmart? Please press the ePrint icon on the front panel of the printer. If it asks you accept the terms of service, then web services is off.
Where are the photos located that you want to email (memory card, mobile device, computer, etc)?
Are you trying to use the scan to email feature?
Thank you and I’m sorry for misunderstanding.
    Regards,
    Happytohelp01

  • My iPad 2 is shutting down when I acces the internet fromfacebook or Pinterest .  Does anyone know why it is doing this?

My iPad 2 shuts down while I am on the internet and goes to the home screen.  It does it whether or not I am in an app like Facebook or just on the web.   It may operate for a period of time & then it just quits.   I checked for updates to my OS. But it is current.

Go to Settings>Safari>Cookies and Data. Then reset your iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up

My mini ipod appears off and not respond to any commands when pressed the buttons to reset, apple logo appeared and then the apple support site and it shuts down. already tried all the steps, but none worked, and when I plug it into my computer it does not appear in the iTunes bar. what do I do?

If MacKeeper corrupted the Recovery partition then even I underestimated its potential for damage. Garbage "cleaning" apps will cause misery but I have not found that the Recovery partition to have been affected by using MacKeeper or anything like it. I doubt that it did so, but I have learned not to underestimate the potential for such things to result in system corruption.
Before concluding your Mac has a hardware failure, try booting OS X Internet Recovery by holding command option r on startup (three fingers). That will force your iMac to bypass the Recovery partition altogether, and convey the ability to create a new one.
An Internet connection will be required (wired or wireless).
At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red. If Disk Utility reports "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK" in green then you can be reasonably (though not completely) assured your hard disk is in good working order.
Assuming the HD remains usable you can then use Disk Utility to erase it. Reinstall OS X, restore your essential software and other files, and don't reinstall the junk.

Have you tried to reboot your router? Unplug it, count to 30, plug it back in and let it reboot. Also you may want to go into your settings on your iPad and 'reset network settings'.
In case the update messed something up, letting the devices reboot sometimes helps.

  • After updating to Firefox 3.6.15, Firefox will not connect to the Internet, even after uninstalling and re-installing Firefox in my Windows XP environment.

After downloading the Firefox 3.6.15 update, my problems began. Firefox would not connect to the Internet. When I rebooted my PC, Firefox said that it couldn't access any Web sites. I uninstalled Firefox, then downloaded and installed Firefox 3.6.15. I still have the same problem: Firefox will not connect to the Internet. I am running Windows XP, service pack 3. I never had problems with Firefox until I installed version 3.6.15.

I have XP Pro. I tried installing 3.6.15 and could not open it. I did a system restore and 3.6.14 would no longer open. I tried again installing 3.6.15 and got a message that the previous version had not uninstalled properly. Tried uninstalling.
As a precaution I used MozBackup to save my bookmarks etc. and also saved a system restore point.
I then clicked Start, My Computer, drive C, Program Files and deleted the Firefox folder.
I installed 3.6.15 and it is now working fine with all my bookmarks and addons loaded automatically.

My Macbook Pro and a PC connect with no problem.

    Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues

  • Safari works great on my iMac, but not so well on my Macbook Pro since upgrading to Lion.  I get a message that I am not connected to the internet when I try to open a webpage even though the wireless icon at the top of my screen shows I am connected.

Since upgrading to Lion I am having problems with Safari on my Macbook Pro.  I am using wifi to access the internet and the internet works in all other application except for Safari.  When I try to access a webpage most times I get a error message saying I am not connected to the internet.  If I click on diagnose the problem, I get connect again to the internet through the diagnostic process and the webpage generally works.  This is not a problem when wired to the internet.

Check your network settings, in particular the advanced setting "DNS Server". If it is by chance 127.0.0.1, make sure to change is and use a know DNS Server (from Google for example, or your own Router local address).

  • My MacBook Pro won't connect to the Internet, but my phone and PC will.

My MacBook Pro won't connect to the Internet. My iPhone has no problem doing so, and neither does my PC. I think it's something to do with my DNS, but I'm not sure. My network connections say that both my Ethernet or FireWire are failed. What's wrong with my MacBook? Is there a simple way to fix this?

    Hello Rattisate,
Sorry to hear you are not able to connect to Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro.  I would be concerned about this too.  You can find information on how to troubleshoot this in the following article:
