My ipad with retina display won't charge after ios7. I have purchased a new cord and adapter but it won't charge at all or even recognize that it's plugged in most of the time. Help!!
My iPad is less than a year old, still under the one year limited warranty, though since I don't know the exact problem, I don't know if my problem is covered. I have spoken to AppleCare agents 3 times, during all of which my conversation was cut off. In my last conversation I was told to do a complete reset, which I have now done. Problem is, I am now stuck on the set-up screen, as I cannot get above a 2% charge, meaning that my ipad cuts off long before I'm able to do a restore using iTunes, iCloud or even set it up as a new device. So, basically, I now have a $600 coaster... and I'm not happy about that. Especially since I'm nowhere near an Apple Store. I also bought the iPad at Wal-Mart, which I guess was a mistake, because once 30 days have passed, they couldn't care less about helping me. What do I do now? And please, don't throw a bunch of technical jargon at me.. I won't understand it and it'll just frustrate us both if I try. Thanks!
p.s. I'm not 100% sure what OS it currently has, though I do believe I was able to update it to 7.0.3 or possibly 7.0.4 through iTunes, though I can't check it now.
p.p.s. I have always used the charging cord and wall adapter that came with the device to charge it. When this problem first occurred, I also purchased new, exact replicas of both of these, which, obviously, made no difference.

I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

I have a iPad with retina display ,to use it as a personal hotspot it requires new itune version but my iPhone works with ios5 I don't need to upgrade it so if I installed new iTunes to my computer can I use my iPhone with it without upgrading to ios 6?
You dont have to upgrade to use your hotspot on your iPhone, should be able to turn on with iOS 5 running on it and have your iPad retina connected to it via wifi. if you want to tether your computer and its prompting you to upgrade itunes you can do that also with out having to update your iPhone to iOS 6.

Should I get an iPad mini or iPad with Retina Display?
Help! I'm about to start college soon and I was thinking of buying an iPad. Thing is, I'm not sure which one I should get. I'll mainly be using the iPad for eBooks, taking notes, and other class related things. I just want to here some other peoples opinion on which iPad I should get. Should it be the iPad mini or the iPad with Retina Display?

First, I think the size of the ipad is very individual. Some love the idea of 'put a mini in your pocket and go.' Others want to hang out somewhere and read more easily, watch movies/tv, etc. among other things, on a bigger screen. If you are near an Apple store, you might want to take a trip there and check out what your preference might be.
If money is an issue, as it is for many students or parents with students in college, consider looking in the Apple refurbished store. And this is because more important than the physical size of the ipad, is the AMOUNT OF SPACE you will buy vs. how much space you will end up needing as a college student.
My son got his ipad 2 refurb in the Apple refurb store before he started his junior year in college last year. He thought 32 gb would be more than enough, but some time during the school year, he used about 50 gb of his ipad 2 64 gb which was the way to go. He has to have apps and space for required financial newspapers, pdf's for class, text books, and of course, movies, tv shows, and music, and all that goes with it - netflix, hbo go, mlb, nfl, and other sports apps... The list goes on.

PLEASE NOTE - Whatever you decide - I read about an app last year and my son got it. It allows him to use anything on his imac (in his dorm) on his ipad and it works anywhere on campus. For example. if he's working on a paper on MS Word or Excel on his imac, and he's somewhere else on campus, he can actually work on his paper in its current program, save changes, etc., so he doesn't have to deal with many of the ios apps that sometimes change format and fonts in translation from mac/pc to ipad. wherever he is because pretty much all campuses have wireless. (It works everywhere for him on his big campus except in one classroom.)
However, when I was checking for updates on it the other day, I found one that sounds better than Splashtop. It's now the top paid app in the business in the app store, reviews are great, and for anywhere access does not require a cellular ipad. It's called Jump Desktop and it works with macs and pcs with your ipad.

My new iPad with Retina Display is not able to connect to the Wi-Fi of my new Time Capsule. It use to connect, but now it just spins and spins and never connects. I've tried rebooting everything many times.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Will there be a trade-in offered for the New iPad and the iPad with Retina Display?
I don't really understand what's going on. I bought The New iPad in early August and was told that it was the one with Retina Display and it was the top of the line. I cannot find a "New ipad" on Apple's website. In fact, the only iPad with Retina Display is one with the lightning connector. I'm utterly confused and feel very jipped. Can anyone maybe explain to me? Where has the "iPad 3" gone on the website? And will I be able to do a trade for the newest considering I just bought it?

KelseyThe iPad 4, which is now also called the iPad with retina display, essentially replaces the iPad 3, which is no longer available except as a refurbished product. The naming is confusing, as both the iPad 3 and iPad 4 had a retina display. The iPad 4 has the same price points but with a fater processor, better Facetime camera, lightning connector, and faster wi-fi. As soon as it came out yesterday, the iPad 3 was removed from the Apple store. It has essentially been discontinued.
People who bought the iPad 3 within the last 14 days can return it no questions asked. There are stories about some stores allowing an exchange for the iPad 4 if you bought the iPad 3 within the last 30 days, but there's nothing official from Apple on that, and it seems to vary from store to store. I called my local Apple store, and they said no, but I'm waiting for a call back from a manager to confirm this.
I think you may be out of luck trying to return or exchange it at the Apple Store, but you can look a selling it and putting the money toward a new model. Here's a link to an article with some info that may help:

Does my ipad with retina display have visual out?
I'm trying to get my ipad to play through my tv. I have a lightning to 30-pin adapter and composite AV cable. All I get is audio! The manual says to make sure my ipad is set to video signal out which after looking online I found out is supposed to be in settings>general but isn't.... I've been to my local apple store to try and figure out how to do it and to be honest the staff know about as much about apple hardware as I do! They are useless. All I want is a definitive answer on is if the ipad with retina display has video signal out capabilities and if yes 'how'. It would also be helpful if the answer is yes to know if Netflix, sky sports app, bbc I player or lovefilm can be played on my tv via my ipad as these are the apps I use. Thanks.
Thanks. It seems I was misinformed, I was going to get the lightning digital av adapter before but I was told it doesn't mirror the apps I was planning to use. That's why I spent £55 on the other wires instead of £40 on that one. The thing is I have a ps3 which plays Netflix, iplayer and lovefilm just not the sky sports app,

Is it necessary to have 64GB for the iPad with Retina display.
I am interested in getting the iPad with Retina Display. I wonder if 32GB is enough, on the iPad 1st generation 16 GB was fine, but with double the resolution I wonder if I should double the size.

Thanks for your inputThe higher resolution is hardly the overwhelming factor that contributes to reduction of storage capacity on the iPad. It is the number of apps, movies, TV Shows and things like that that take up the storage.
I have a 64GB iPad 3 with 170 apps, 2 HD movies, a couple of TV shows, 900 + photos, about 350 songs, several magazines in Newsstand and I have used about 21GB of the storage on the device.
IMO - the retina display is spectacular and well worth it. -

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
