My iPad won't backup to my computer during sync

Since downloading iOS5, my iPad won't backup during sync with my computer.  It tries to start, then just sits there.  Any ideas?  I'm working off of Windows7 on my computer and have already tried the Restore function.
Thanks!

first of all make sure your icloud storage isn't full. Try plugging your iPad into your computer and click on icloud.
And if non of this helps either contact your local apple store or visit it when you get the chance.
I hope something helped.

  • My iPad won't backup. It's been synced to two different iTunes accounts. I'm trying to update to newest iOS.

I'm trying to update my iPad to newest iOS  when I try to back it up it just sits there.   Even overnight it does progress.  The iPad has been synced to two different iTunes accounts and I have a new PC. THAT I'm using to sync it on.
    Why will it not update?

  • IPad won't backup. It keeps getting stuck

My iPad won't backup on iTunes on my computer. It used to work fine then one day it stopped. It starts backing up and it barely does anything then it freezes. The bar won't move any more, even if I leave it for like an hour. iTunes still goes to different pages, but it won't backup anymore. Then when I cancel the backup, my iPad stops doing it but the iTunes backup bar stays there and iTunes won't close unless I restart my computer. I do have the latest version of iTunes.
What should I do? I can't just NOT back it up.

  • My 4th gen ipod won't backup after it froze during a software update to 4.3.5. I had to cancel the backup at the start of the update and now it won't let me backup to my computer, freezes during backup or says my backup is corrupted.

I pressed 'X' during a backup after it froze during an update to software 4.3.5 and now it won't let me backup on my computer. Does anyone have any ideas? It either freezes during backup or says my 'backup is corrupted' or 'I cannot backup on my computer'. I have had to abort quite a few attempted backups since the initial problem, which I think has made it worse. I have already tried restoring my ipod, deleting the aborted backup from my preferences/devices in itunes and deleting it from my user/appdata/etc on my PC hard drive. Any ideas what to try next?

After hours of frustration I eventually decided to restore. I lost my apps, but i didn't have many and was able to reinstall them for free. During the restore it updated my ipod to the latest software 4.3.5, which i think may have caused the initial problem, but the backup issue remains. Sometimes it stops me from syncing and other times it allows me to skip the backup, but still says that i can't backup on my computer. I'm worried that it has done something to my computer as it took me six hours to do a Bullguard scan, which only normally takes about an hour. The scan didn't come up with any viruses, but it stalled at system32 for ages. The only other thing that i can think of is that a demo CD I uploaded may have caused a problem. iTunes couldn't find a track listing for it but gave me a few different options. i thought I had to choose one to continue, so did that then changed the track details to the correct tracks. I'm now worried that may have introduced an issue or caused a glitch in iTunes. How paranoid am I sounding?

  • My iPad won't backup even though I have 4.7 of 5 GB available

My iPad won't back up even though I deleted a lot.  I have 4.7 of 5 GB's available.  I tried turning it off.  Didn't work.  Says that I have never backed up, when I have done this many times since I first received my iPad in 2012.  Please advise.  Thank you!

I think you'll find it means you don't have enough storage available on your phone.

  • Ipad won't backup

i keep getting an error message in itunes when i backup my ipad saying the backup is corrupt. i looked under itunes>preferences>devices, and there are no backups listed to delete. what could be the problem? my ipad is running top shape nonetheless. it's just that i can't back it up is the problem.

I have the same problem here, wanted to backup my APPs and App-settings from my iPad1 and then restore it to my iPad2.
But when I hit the sync button the iPad1 syncs very fast but I don´t have a backup.
By right-click on the Device in Itunes the "backup" or "restore from backup" options do not show.

  • IPad Won't Backup - No Error Message

    iOS 6.1.3
    64GB iPad with Retina Display
    12.7 GB iCloud storage available
Current backup (July 6, 2013) uses 9.6 GB
Last iPad backup was July 6, 2013.
I have reset the iPad (Home Button + Power Button)
At the moment I am trying a manual backup. Here's what I see:
Spinning progress indicator followed by "Backing Up..."
A progress bar that hasn't budged in an hour.
A message stating "Estimated time remaining..." which has been there for the same hour.
My iPhone, on the same wireless LAN and the same iCloud account backs up regularly, all by itself.
My iPad used to backup regularly, all by itself, but, for reasons that remain mysterious, stopped on July 6, 2013. Every night my iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to the wireless LAN. Everything else works fine.
    What now?

Still no success, but I think I understand what's going on....
Every few months I go on a dive trip. During those trips I am away from the mainland and away from the Internet for five or six days at a time. Also during those trips I transfer many gigabytes of photos and videos from various cameras to my iPad.
My guess is that when I finally have a WiFi Internet connection again, iOS simply cannot cope with the huge amount of new data that needs to be backed up to iCloud. So, it fails without issuing any sort of meaningful error message.
Any idea how I can report to Apple this serious flaw in iOS iCloud backups?

  • Cant save data on computer during sync.

whenever my sister and i try to sync out ipods onto out computer, the sync starts but a message pops up part way though saying that "iTunes could not back up the iPod "Brian's iPod" because the backup could not be saved to the computer". we are using the same computer (Windows 7, 64-bit) but we are using seperate iTunes accounts (in different user files).  why is this happening, and how can we fix it?? i want to sync and my sister wants to upgrade to iOS 5.
extra notes: we are using iTunes 10.5 and both iPods are 4th Gen iPod Touches.

  • My iPad won't backup when I sync it to my iTunes.

It'll sync completely and say it's being backed up, but then a warning will come on and say that the backup couldn't be saved on my computer. I have IOS 4.2.1 and am trying to update to 4.3.3, but it won't let me because it's not backed up. How can I back it up? I already tried to do it by right-clicking on my iPad and just selecting "backup".

It took me countless hours to run this problem down when I got my Mini. (It's a core solo, intel.) I finally found out that my Dell keyboard (and perhaps the mouse as well) wasn't compatible with the Mini. I got a Macally keyboard and the mouse that came with it for about $30.00 and it now goes to sleep and wakes up when I want it to. I hope this helps.

  • My iPod touch 4th generation won't backup to my computer?

When I connect with iTunes or try to manually backup my iPod touch with iTunes onto my computer I get a message pop up saying 'iTunes could not back up the iPod "Anastasia's" because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPod. Delete the back up for this iPod, then try again'
However I don't know how to delete the backup or why I'm getting this message. The last time it backed up automatically was the 25/02/2013 at 20:06 and my iPod software is up to date with iOS 6.1.2.
Moreover on the 13th of January this year I connected to my iTunes and my iPod wiped all my songs off my iPod and reset my bookmarks, Internet history, notes, apps, pictures everything back to the beginning of August 2012. What is happening to my iPod?
If it helps I can still bookmark, go on the Internet, save pictures and notes and put photos music and videos onto my iPod but I just cannot back it up.

To delete the backup go to iTunes>Preferences>Device and highlight the backup and thnat click on Delete.

  • TS1398 My iPad won't backup to iCloud even though I have plugged into power, locked it and other devices all are OK on our wi fi.  I can't get rid of the box that tells me to backup the iPad to iCloud to access anything else in the iPad.  Help?

When I try to use my iPad I get a message that says my iPad has not been backed-up for 2 weeks.  I've plugged it in, locked it and wi fi is working with other devices but I can't get passed that message.  I've tried turning the iPad off but even then I can't slide the bar to turn it off.  Any suggestions?

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
