My iPad won't stop restarting itself since it died and i plugged it in, what's wrong with it?

My iPad died and i plugged it in and now it won't stop restarting itself, it goes apple logo, loading, shut off and then it repeats itself. I thought that maybe the iPad got just enough power to start restarting but then died midway through and that just kept continuously happening.

Try a reset: Hold down the power and Home buttons together until the Apple logo is displayed, then release. No data or settings are lost.

    Hello there, SamanthaYikwai.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some basic steps to try for reinstalling an app:
iOS: An app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1702
    Reinstall the app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it. Remember that deleting an app also deletes its data.
    Delete the app.
    Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store and download the app again.
Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.
If the download stops, you can resume it.
If the issue persists, then you may want to try and sync the application to your iOS device using  your computer by following the information in this article, under the section "Download previous purchases on Mac or PC":
    Download past purchases

If this does not work, set it up again "as new device", shown in this article: How to set up your iPhone or iPod touch as a new device

  • ITunes has taken upon itself to delete most of my podcast back catalogue -- what is wrong with you people?  Why do you allow it to do this?

I am absolutely furious about this.  Why was this allowed to happen? I now have to re-download every single ******* podcast I've ever subscribed to -- some of which are now lost forever because they're no longer posted -- THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

This just happened to me this morning. I clicked Podcasts in intunes 11.1.2 on my PC and selected a Podcast to see if it had downloaded the latest video this week.  I clicked the circular refresh button which used to check for and display any new podcasts.  Then all the sudden the Podcast I was looking at and another one just disappeared.  I used Windows explorer to navigate to the itunes media folder which stores my podcasts and the two podcast folders are gone. They are not in the Recycle Bin nor have they been moved to another location.  I had at least 3 years worth of Podcasts stored here and iTunes on a whim just decided to delete them from my Harddrive without asking me.  These were educational Podcasts which we watch from time to time.  I could download them again which would take days but how can I trust that they will not be deleted again?  We hadn't watched all the episodes but iTunes kept track of the ones which had been viewed.  What now?
This is infuriating.   I will never be able to trust iTunes on the PC again.

I could really use some help. This problem has been plaguing me for over 6 months. Please help.

Have you tried running Disk Utility/Repair Permissions and deleting the .plist for the two programs?
In Finder, hold down the option key while selecting the Go to Folder Command and select user library.

    Qi,
You can try passing in -username and -password arguments. If you don't
like the idea of storing username and password in plain text in a
script, as well you shouldn't ;), you can create a user config file.

  • Itunes restarting itself since iphone 4s install

Ever since updating itunes to 10.5 and buying the Iphone 4s and installing everything, itunes in both my computer at work AND home keeps restarting by itself.
I close it and it opens back up.
At work it just restarts itself.  At home it restats itself and attemps to connect my Iphone 4s and gives me an error for being unable to do so (obviously since I dont have the phone connected to my computer).
Anyone have any idea how to make it stop restarting itself?

Reading around, it seems like force closing Itunes helper will stop the auto-restarts.  I tried it and Itunes is no longer self-restarting.
However I get the feeling this is a temporary solution rather than a permanent one.  Once I restart itunes or the computer, it will happen again.
    Anyone know a better solution?

IF THE ABOVE DOESN't WORK, FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • IPad won't stop checking mail

iPad won't stop checking for mail - it has been over an hour and still checking.  Also my primary email does not pick up all my mail.

Thanks so much for your reply!
I should have also mentioned that I've deleted the account, did a reset, and even a restore (at apple's suggestion) and nothing has helped.  I just finished reentering all the account info after the restore and it still has the "checking for mail wheel spinning". I have 15 iPads in this office and haven't had an issue with any of them expect this one.
It also has the "Load More Messages..." 29 messages total, 0 unread - at the bottom of the inbox, but it won't let me select it or "load" any more messages.  It does send and receive emails just fine though.  Slow, but fine.
    Any other thoughts?!

  • My iPad won't stop asking for my Apple ID no matter what I do. What do I do?

My iPad won't stop asking for my appl no matter what I do. I've tried resetting but I can't even look for waiting apps, because it won't stop asking.

Did you check if you are still logged in with your info in Settings/iTunes and AppStore/AppleID?
If yes, Did you try to log out, reset the iPad, and log in again with your Apple ID?

  • My iPad won't really restart.

I installed "Whats Pad" to my iPad and it tried to restart after installing as a part of the process. However, my iPad won't really restart. It has been restarting and won't really open. I can't also shut it down (turn off) as there is no option or button for that. What should I do. I need help.

I'm a dufus.  I meant my IMAC.  I'm trying to download ITunes 11.1.  I download it, but when it tells me to hit "restart" I do this.  Next, my screen goes black, as it should in restart, but then it shows just the standard background wallpaper, and will not proceed at all; won't load any programs or icons.  Thanks.

  • My iPad won't let me stay on some games and web sites. It sends me back to my home page after I have only been on the site a few minutes. How can I fix this?

My iPad won't let me stay on some games and web sites for more than a few minutes . It closes the site and takes me back to home screen. Why and how do I fix this?

For Safari you could try clearing its cache and history via Settings > Safari.
For Safari and your other apps you could close them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • HT201318 My Ipad won't let me in when I try and slide to unlock it...the message is Not enough Storage but I can't get in to add more storage...what do I do to increase storage...can I use my computer to do so?

My Ipad won't let me in when I try and slide to unlock it ...the message is Not Enough Storage...but I can't get in to put more storage on it

Settings > iTunes & App Stores > tap your Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region
If you find that it is set to the correct region, log out of your iTunes Store account, restart your iPad, and sign into your account again.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

  • I keep putting in my passcode but my iPad won't show the numbers in the blocks and it won't open.  I have tried double tapping in the numbers

I keep putting in my passcode but my iPad won't show the numbers in the blocks and consequently it won't open for me. I have tried double tapping in the numbers and then it shows the numbers in the blocks correctly but then it responds with a wrong code in red and then locks me out.
Typing in the code takes a long time which might indicate a full HD.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
