My iPad won't sync photos from my pc via iTunes.  It did until yesterday.

I have moved my 7000 photos from one drive on my pc to another.
I have selected the sync all photos option with the correct folder in iTunes.
All 160 folders appear as empty albums during sync but then disappear again without being populated with photos.
I have had my ipad2 for about 12 months and have never had this problem before.
Does anybody have any ideas?

I had same problem and after reading these posts also decided to delete the 2 empty folders from my IPad and then tried again.  It is now working.  It doesn't seem to like to have empty photo albumn.s
I find this ironic because I didn't realize that by unchecking the folders to sync that it would then remove those pictures from my IPad.   Don't understand why it doesn't just leave them there.

I have tried to load some recent photos onto my ipad by syncing with itunes but the syncing gets to step 6 of 7 and does not complete. My iPhone 5 has synced ok. Have tried switching the iPad on and off again and resyncing but no joy. Any ideas?

The message is that the computer is not associated with that account.
Are you trying to sync your iPad on a computer that you do not usually use to connect your iPad to?
You should use the computer with the backup of your iPad.

Try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then copy over correctly - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314

  • My ipad won't sync photos, need help please

my ipad won't sync photos anymore, anyone out there can help

You could try clearing the photo cache.
You could also try a reset of the iPad and see if photos sync after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Ipad Won't Sync Photo PT2!

Just upgraded my Ipad today, it seems that all is well. Except, my photos won't sync. When trying to sync photos (and only photos) it says '"XXXX's iPad" cannot be synced because file cannot be found'
i've tried the following to make it work.
    1) turned off sync photos, run sync, turn on again, new sync
    2) try setting the iPad up as a new ipad
    3) deleting the photo cache file.
This is very annoying, hopefully im not the only one having this issue.

    Vere,
Tried your version, but it did not work, still gives the information in pop up "cant find file".

  • Can only sync photos by dropping folder on desktop - iPad won't sync photos

    Hi all,
I've been trying for a couple weeks now to sync photos to my iPad.
I'm running SL 10.6.2 and have updated to the latest iTunes. I have one hard drive that runs only my OS and my applications and I have a secondary drive that contains all my data including music, videos, photos, documents etc.
I have been able to repeatedly successfully sync apps, movies, music, and even a pages document to my iPad from the secondary drive through iTunes.
Every single time I have tried to sync photos it just seems to hang at the Sync in Progress screen for hours. I finally have to cancel because it's obvious the sync will not be successful. This happens whether I have one folder selected with just a dozen photos or several folders selected.
I am not using iPhoto. I'm simply choosing the folders with the images I'd like to sync from the Photos tab in iTunes when my iPad is connected.
Today I took one of the folders I was trying to sync containing 12 photos and dropped it on my desktop. The photos synced in seconds and iPad happily said sync complete. Any ideas?
Is this a quirk with SL 10.6.2, iTunes 9.1, or iPad?
It's not necessarily a huge issue that I have to move all the photos I want to sync to my main mac drive... but I just really didn't want to clutter my OS drive with data stuff... I prefer to keep them separate. Seems the only way I can sync photos right now, though, is to move them to the main mac drive... even though everything else syncs just fine from the secondary drive...
    Thanks for any help!

It looks like noone has and Idea how to fix this problem ;-(

  • IPad won't sync photos

I just upgraded to 4.2 and my iPad will no longer sync my photos from iPhoto.
They synced just fine before I upgraded but now I get an error:
"Some of your photos, including the photo "IMG_1402.JPG, were not copied to the iPad because they cannot be displayed on your iPad."
    Some details:
-these photos synced just fine before I upgraded to 4.2
-the photos are all in my iPhoto library
    - I recently had the hard drive on my imac die so it was just replaced with a new one
    - I used Time Machine to restore my system
    Any help is appreciated.

The files that you say are syncing again  - even though they are already on the iPad - will always sync again unless you deselect them in iTunes in which case they will be removed from the iPad. That's how the sync works.
I'm guessing that you may have a corrupt photo or image that is causing the sync to fail or quit. You might want to try removing all of your photos by deselecting them in iTunes then sync - and try adding them back on to the iPad in smaller groups until you are able to nail down the troublesome photo, album or event that causes the sync to stop.
If you want to try removing the photos as suggested, you may want to repeat the remove the iPod photo cache folder one more time before you begin resyncing the photos back onto the iPad.
There are other things that you could try, like deleting your iPad backup - on your computer, launch iTunes and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Your iPad's name and then select delete back up. Quit iTunes and then try to sync again.
Or something a little less invasive that may or may not work - but it will harm nothing - try resetting your iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Then try to sync again.

  • My iPad won't sync photos with iTunes & the photos tab has gone on itunes

I'm using an iMac with itunes version 11.1.5 and I have been trying to sync my iPad to add photos but it keeps failing. However i have noticed that there doesnt seem to be a "photos" tab any longer on iTunes has this option been removed??
    Many thanks
    JPGUK

You can never totally remove anything that you have purchased from iTunes, the App Store, or iBooks. Your purchases will always be tied to your Apple ID. You can hide those songs by going to Settings>iTunes and App Store>Show all>Music>Off. You can do the same for videos.
But bear in mind, all that you are doing is hiding the purchases and they will not be downloaded to your device unless you go back to that settings, show the songs again and then tap the cloud to download them to the iPad.

  • Syncing photos from several folders in iTunes to iOS devices

    Hi,
I am trying to set up iTunes to sync photos on my MacBook Pro to my iOS devices (first of all, my iPhone 5, but to my iPad mini and iPad 3 as well).
I happen to store my photos in a folder with a several level hierarchy: in the main photo folder there are folders for each year, in those there are folders for each event, and in those there is a separate folder for the subset of my photos that I want to be synced (photos that I like the most).
Apparently, iTunes allows to select folders for syncing in only 1 level of hierarchy.  That would mean that one must not have separate folders for each year, nor for good and not-so-good photos - only one basic photo folder, and inside that folders for each event, and so every photo from selected events would be synced.
I tried a workaround: I created a specific new folder especially for syncing purposes, and I defined Smart Folders inside it.  These Smart Folders would contain my desired photos virtually.  (I didn't want to make physical copies of my photos, because I did not want to waste disc space.)  But then it turned out that iTunes does not recognize photos in Smart Folders, only those in physical folders.
Can you give me a solution, how could I sync photos in iTunes to my iOS devices, if these photos are not in folders that are only one but more level deep in hierarchy?
    Thanks a lot,
    Mikulka

It works the way it works. I'd recommend you create a separate folder for any photos that you want to put on your devices, with one layer of subfolders as separate albums. Each device can sync with a different selection of those album folders.

  • Problem sync photos from Photoshop Elements since iTunes 7

I have been having problems syncing my photos ever since Apple launched iTunes 7 and iOS 6. I run Windows 7, I sync my photos from Photoshop Elements to the iPad 2 and the iPhone 3GS. I never had problems with the sync prior to the September changes by Apple. What happens is that only a portion of the photos that I have earmarked for sync in their respective selected albums are making it to the devices.
In terms of troubleshooting, I have tried many things to no avail. I have tried to add a new photo to an album to sorta kickstart a sync. I have deleted the iPod photo cache from the Elements Organizer. I have removed photos from the device. I have tried syncing without syncing Photos.
None of these have worked. It's pretty clear that there is a glitch in Apple's updates, which will need to be addressed along the way. Photos traveled seamelssly in this method until the September updates.
Anyone else experience this, or have any last-dash ideas? It's pretty frustrating.

Of course, by "iTunes 7", I meant "iTunes 10.7", but can't seem to edit my OP.

  • IPad will not sync photos from MacBook Pro master

All syncing operations work except "Photos".  While analizing photo's program crashes & reverts to "problem report to Apple" window

Thanks Eric.  Yes, when the iPad is connected, I have checked the appropriate boxes in the iTunes Photos Tab for the device to try to sync some or all albums, events, etc. from iPhoto and have tried checking the boxes for various subfolders to try to sync from the "Pictures" folder.
I am able to see all of the folder iPhoto and Pictures folder options from iTunes. When I click on the various folders, the capacity bar will increase and decrease depending on what I select or deselect.

  • Ipad won't sync with photos from Aperture - library cannot be found

Ok I give up. When trying to sync my photos onto my new ipad from Aperture in iTunes I keep getting the message "iTunes cannot sync photos to the ipad because your Aperture Library could not be found. Open the preferences window in Aperture and enable the preference to share previews with other applications. Well the library is where it should be in the Home folder and then pictures. I have the latest version of iTunes and Aperture. The only similar setting I can find in Aperture preferences is under Previews and Share Previews with ilife and iwork, no mention of itunes?
I've gone into my Aperture show contents and deleted the cache folder ipod photo cache (I previously synced to my iphone 3GS). It works syncing to iphoto, as I have tested it and the iphoto is in the same folder as the Aperture library so they are in the right location.
I am now at a loss as to what to try next......PLEASE HELP ME....
I don't want to have to have a Aperture library and an iphoto library on the go!

    Hi,
iTunes cannot sync photos to the ipad because your Aperture Library could not be found.
If you have an external drive connected to your Mac, disconnect that, restart your Mac, restart your iPad and try syncing photos from Aperture.

  • Sync Photos from PC = double Photos??

When I "Sync Photos from" my PC in Itunes, I choose a folder I call Iphone Photos, where I place the pcitures I want on my phone. When the sync is complete, I get TWO folders, with the same pictures in both, my iphone photos, and Photo library. Why?? Why do I get the same pictures in two folders? Why does itunes  create photo Library which has the same exact pictures as my iphone photos???  I cant find any settings or solutions anywhere on the support forums anywhere.

One such solution would be to use MS Skydrive. This would entail opening a Microsoft Live account and instaling the Upload to Skydrive update on your phone. Then you would need to install Skydrive onto your PC. Once it's all set-up, any new photos you take with the 808 would automatically be uploaded to your Skydrive folder and can be viewed via your PC.
    Ray.
