My ipad2 gives 5-6 hours battery backup. But apple claims 10hours

Do any other person noticed less battery backup.
M facing this problem since very first day I bought ipad2.

The battery life will depend on what you are using it for, e.g. watching videos will drain the battery quicker thatn reading ebooks, and what your settings are e.g. 3G on, wifi-on, location services on, maximise brightness. There are tips on this page for maximising battery life : www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html

  • Poor battery backup

    Hi
I recently got Mac Book Pro with Retina Display. Apple is claiming 7 hour battery backup but I am getting only approx 4.5 hours of battery backup. Any suggestions to increase the battery backup. I have tried disabling "Adjust Screen Brightness" & "Adjust keyboard lightness in low light".
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Ratnesh

The Apple claims for battery life are based on very conservative test conditions that hardly reflect real life conditions.  Read their fine print very carefully.  I have found that 60%-70% of the advertised rate is an acceptable parameter.  Now if you use some really CPU intensive applications, the battery time will plummet.

  • Battery backup Macbook Pro 13" March 2010 model

    Ladies and gentlemen,
This morning, the system profiler told me:
    *Charge Information:*
    Charge remaining (mAh): 5223
    Fully charged: Yes
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 5445
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 50
    Condition: Normal
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): -1810
    Voltage (mV): 12132
In a nutshell, it would mean I have completed 50 cycles in 5.5 months (already 13th Aug). But what does the Amperage equates to? And is it possible to have the mAh's reducing over time or will remain the same?
    Cheers!
    Sam

Also it was stated that these machines, quoted as 'Macbook Pro5,5' should give 7 hours battery backup.
Well, I doubt I am getting anything near to that. Are you?
    Cheers!

  • New macbook, does'nt give 7 hrs battery backup

Hi, I bought my mac in Dec 2009. Its macbook white, 2.26 GHZ processor. Its going on very well and Im quite happy with the way it works. Recently, I've been noticing that it doesnt give me 7 hours of battery back up. I use it on battery, drain it out and charge it. And when I start using it again it doesnt last more than 5 hours. I was curious to know if its because of the extensive use and do you think it would deteriorate to less hrs of backup ..?
Would love if someone could give me a little insight into this.
    Thanks in advance

You are not guaranteed 7 hours, as everyone's usage habits are different. It all depends on what you're doing, what apps you're running, what devices you have turned on (wifi, bluetooth, etc..), what devices you have connected, how bright the screen is, etc...

  • From the time i upgraded to os lion my battery backup from 7 hours became 4 hours, how do i resolve it?

from the time i upgraded to os lion my battery backup from 7 hours became 4 hours, how do i resolve it?

When you upgrade to Lion, Spotlight will re-index your hard drive. This happens only once, but can take a while and may eat a lot of battery. Is still Spotlight indexing? If yes, then check your battery amount in the coming days after the indexing is complete. If Spotlight is done indexing, do the same and check it the coming days.

  • Sub 1 hour battery life (9 cell) on Windows 8.1

    Hi all,
A few months ago I installed Windows 8.1 on my T400 (Type 6475) and ever since have experienced abysmal battery life. I have a 9 cell battery in good condition that gave me at least 5 hours of moderate usage when I was running Windows 7 on this machine. Now I'm lucky to get an hour running Windows 8.1 which just isn't really viable. I've checked the battery on my backup T61 running Windows 7 and still achive perfectly acceptable lifespan with that  - so the battery's not the problem.
This is my second clean reinstall of Windows 8.1. I've checked all of my drivers are up to date and are Windows 8.1 versions where they exist. My T400 doesn't have switchable graphics so I don't think it's that causing the issue. Bluetooth is off. I've got Power Manager 6.32 installed and working flawlessly. All settings are as they were when I was running Windows 7 (optimised for battery life when off of AC).
Before I give up on Windows 8.1 and return to Windows 7 is there anything else I've missed? Is there any way I can check what's using the battery?
I'm not a massive tech-head so be gentle if possible...
    Thanks in advance!

  • Additional FiOS Voice Battery Backup for I-211-M-K

I understand that the battery backup for the phone lasts about 8 hours.  That is not enough for a significant blackout.  Can I order an additional battery backup unit?
I have the small desktop version of the ONT.  The model is I-211-M-K.  So I would need the battery backup unit that goes with this.  Is this available to purchase?  I don't see why it shouldn't be.  If a customer wants more hours of backup time in case of an emergency, then we should be able to have it.
    Thanks.

Good evening. You can call our battery replacement center at 877-503-3537 to get an additional batteries.

  • T420s - best 8 hours battery setup

    Hello Community,
I just bough T420s 4GB RAm, 128SSD to my girlfriend and she is SO happy. The laptop is one sexy beast.
However, I was surprized by the size of the main battery. It is tiny , like a chocolate bar So , I expected a tiny battery life as well. It looks like with WiFi and decent Screen brightness it is about 3+ hours.
Charger is 65 watt and super small and it is not a problem to bring it around. Still, I was thinking what is the best way to extend battery life to 8 hours working day.
    My current idea:
Buy 2 additional main batteries and 2 external batery chargers.
Charge these 2 extra batteries every day Get them along with laptop.
So at the end my girl friend will have: Laptop with 1 installed battery and 2 extra batteries.
Assuming one battery gives 3.5 hours of active usage time it brings us to about 10 hours battery life.
Batteries are super small a tiny , so bringing them along in her school bag (she is a student) should not be a problem.
How do you see this setup? May be you have bettter ideas how to achieve 10 hours active usage time with less hassle?

    thinkfly,
How do you use your laptop? I get between 3 and 4 hours on main 6 cell battery using WiFi and MS office. I barely can imagine adding smaller 3 cell battery and get additinoal 4 hours out of it.
I use WiFi and run 2 virtual machines, for coding and web browsing mainly. I don't do computing jobs on my T420s. Open your Power Manager and check the idle wattage. If your idle power consumption is more than 12 watts then you probably need to optimize your system e.g. check which applications are occupying your CPU.

  • Best Battery Backup for iMac 27"?

Just received my new iMac 27" i7.  I contacted Apple and they told me I don't really need a battery backup to protect the iMac but it's always a good idea.  So I am looking for an inexpensive backup to just protect the iMac and give me a few minutes to shutdown.  I have been reading about battery backups and from my understanding rating (va or watts) can be less than the iMac.  The only real difference is that the time to successfully shut down will be shorter.  Is this correct?  The 27" has a 340 watt power supply so I could get a 240 watt backup and be fine if I only wanted to shut down wilthout damage the iMac?
Any suggestions on what to get?  It's almost impossible to make an informed decision because of specifications like "pure sine wave output", "dirty backup power" and "constant voltage source".  I am totally confused.  Do I really need one at all?
    Thank you

Do you need to hook up the USB cable
You don't have to, but if you don't, when the battery runs out, your Mac will crash.
If you connect the cable and set the preferences to shut it down after a certain period of time, or when there's a certain percentage of the battery left, etc., per the pink box in the link provided earlier, it will do a controlled powerdown.
and install the APC shut down software?
No, do not install that.  It's been incompatible with Macs for several years.
Your Mac has the software already built-in.

  • Nokia 5800xm, very bad battery backup

    hi all,
i have just bought Nokia 5800 XM, a week back. I am facing a very bad experience with this new phone since its giving a poor battery backup. The battery is not lasting even a day. I charge it fully in night and it starts getting down next day evening.
I am not using any application, neither any surfing. My talktime in a day is around 3 hrs max and listen to music max 1 hr.
Please suggest any workarounds, is this a generic problem all people are facing with this handset.
Should i contact nokia for replacing it?

First, make sure you don't have any open applications in the background. Turn off bluetooth, Wi-Fi. Reduce the screen brightness to the minimum required for legibility. Reduce the level of haptic feedback. Make sure there is a good network coverage. Update the firmware to the latest version...
If these are done, then take a look at the battery: use the phone until the battery goes dead, or until you see the Battery Low message a couple of times. Then, charge the batter to 100%, uninterrupted. Now, repeat it 2-3 times. After that, use the phone like you normally do. Charge it as and when you want.
If you are comparing the performance with what is there in the spec-sheet, please be informed that what you see in the specs are the ideal values - under "standard test conditions". In practical life, you should expect considerable differences. 3 hours of calls and 1 hour of music does mean a good deal of strain on the battery. If the music is thru loudspeakers, it adds to it.

  • IPhone Battery Backup on ios 7.0.4

    Hi
I am facing a problem with my iPhone5 running on IOS 7.0.4, and it is the battery backup. Only Wifi was turned on.
I have reduced screen brightness, turned off 3G and no location services is running and i dont know why, I hardly get 6 hours of Battery Backup.
Is there any thing else i need to turn off.
Is this only happening to me , or every one else having the same issue?
    Provide me some solution...

    hi
they keep deleting my posts about that, but what helped me tremendously was simply switching off SIRI competely...
My phone died within 4-5 hours (new, clean install, the third new hardware in a row)... and since I switched off SIRI it holds the battery for over 24 hours even if I use it a lot...
told it to the Apple Store 'geniuses' today in Berlin, hopefully that info makes it into the next update.

  • Mountain Lion upgrade reduced battery backup

After updating Mountain Lion my Macbook air battery backup reduce from 5 hours to 3 hours.
    Any suggestions?

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so.
Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To really see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now if you haven't already done so. No matter what happens, you should be able to restore your system to the state it was in at the time of that backup.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
After installing ODS in the Applications folder, drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. When you're done with it, quit it and also quit Terminal.
