My iPad2 is not recognised by my mac anymore.

My iPad2 is no more recognised by my mac (iTunes 4.1 and Snow Leopard). If I reinstall iTunes mn my computer, it works, but the second time it does not work any more. Any idea?

Just had the same problem. Solved it by doing a reset - Turn on the iPod, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the menu & select buttons simultaneously until the Apple icon appears. (I had to let go after 10+ seconds and press the select button again to make the logo appear.) I hit select once more to clear the logo and get to the main menu, then plugged it in to my computer. Everything's running well again, and the reset did not in any way affect the music files already stored in my iPod.

similar situation. Unplugged external hard drive and all to take the laptop on a trip. On return, I plugged everything back in and keep getting this message:
Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “Iomega_Ext_Drive”.
Files can’t be copied onto the backup disk because it appears to be read-only.
You may need to repair or reformat the disk using Disk Utility. If the disk can’t be repaired, you must use a different disk for backups. Open Time Machine preferences to select a different backup disk.

Are you syncing over WiFi or over the USB cable? Try doing the opposite.
Also try a different USB port on the iMac.

IPhone 5 is not recognised by iTunes (Mac)

Okay so recently the sleep/wake button on my iPhone 5 was beginning to stop working. Turns out that this is a common problem, and Apple were happy to replace my phone as it was still under warranty. I went through the setup assistant and it prompted me to either:
set up as a new iPhone
restore from iCloud backup
restore from iTunes backup
I chose the last option, and the new iPhone was not recognised in iTunes. I gave up on this and just decided to set up as a new iPhone, and decided I would restore from a backup later. So I completed the setup and yet iTunes will still not recognise the phone. I have tried quitting iTunes, restarting my Mac and restarting my iPhone multiple times. I followed all of steps on the troubleshoot guide: http://www.apple.com/au/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/
My Mac is running OSX 10.8.4 and iTunes 11.0.5 and my iPhone is running 6.1.4.

My computer does not recognise my usb key anymore?

I have spent the best part of yesterday working of some lessons I needed to prepare.
Happy with myself I stupidly only saved them on a new external usb key which was at the time recognised by the Mac.
However, when I tried to plug that key on another pc it asked me to format it?? Obviously I did not has all my work was on it. SO I returned to my good old Mac and inserted the key... guess what? It refused to recognise it either. I could not even restore anything... Where has my work gone??? How can I retreive it?
Please, I do understand I should have been a bit more clearver and save it in two location but I did not.. I now need some help, if anyone could I would be so eternaly grateful>

if one remove usb sticks without first ejecting them this can happen
the data becomes corrupt
you can try googling for various tools which may or may not be able to recover the data
salvage corrupt usb stick
if they can't then there are companys which make a living on salvaging deleted data but of cause that is pricy

Xerox - 4800 one touch scanner not recognised by my mac mini ???

HI I have just moved to Mac from Windows. Previously I used a Xerox - 4800 one touch scanner, I plugged it into a free usb port on the back of the mac mini and nothing.
Where on the system can I see if the mac recognises it? I have tried vuescan, but they don't even list the xerox models.

did you install software for the scanner? you can tell if the computer is recognizing the device by going to the blue apple and then "about this mac". then click on more info. the scanner should be listed with your usb devices. if it is not recognized, then try a pmu reset. if you have a power pc mac mini, the instructions are here. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300574. if you have an intel mac mini, the instructions are here. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446. let me know if that works. DV AVI files from PC premier 6.5 not recognised by any mac app (so far)

as the subject says. were exported to a DOS drive while switching from PC to mac. erm... usual PAL specs - nothing special so no reason i can see they don't work. any ideas?

anyway...yes - i have a dos formatted firewire drive to transfer files to clients/friends who still use windows and vice versa.
i transferred a number of files all exported from premier in the same way but 4 files from one project aren't recognised by anything. all were digitised from a dv cam into a pc, imported into premier projects using the default PAL DV settings so no rendering was required. they were edited then exported using the same settings.

Note sure if this will help, but read my experience below.
I got a MBP Retina and had the same issue, the USB ports work with everything connected to it so far apart from the Gamrin 276C. Went the route of bootcamp and Win7, which had no problems connecting to the 276C.
I then uploaded the latest drivers from Garmin for OSX (I'm on 10.8.2) with no luck.
Eventually I figured why not try an USB hub to step down to USB 2 with the hub. Got a cheapie USB 2 hub that I plugged into the MBP, then connected the 276C to it. Worked great and have not had any issues with it since.
So it seems the USB3 ports on the new Macs and OSX may not play nice with some older USB equipment out there. If that is the case try a USB 2 hub and see, may save you a lot of time and frustration.

The source mac is a macbook running 10.5.8 and I am trying to use migration assistant to get my music to my ne macbook pro which is running 10.8.2
I have tried connecting them with an ethernet cable and this still didn't work...

If that does not work either, you may want to book an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar for a free diagnosis as it could be a USB port problem.

HELP!? PC Not Showing Up On MAC Anymore?

This is super urgent, hope someone can assist.
My network was working great at my previous apartment, but I just moved into a new condo and reconnected my computers to my Airport Extreme and can't get the network to work properly now.
For some reason my Mac Book can see my PC on the network and access the shared folders, but my Mac Pro can NOT. I've tried to connect to my PC from my Mac Pro via GO->Connect to server->smb://xxx.xx.xx.xx using my PC's IP address but it won't work. I already have folders on the PC set for sharing, and OS X 10.5.8 has no utility option for directory access to search for the workgroup on my PC like many online instructions say to do.
On my PC i'm running WINDOWS XP, and on MAC i'm running OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard).
Can anyone please help??

oh and p.s.s....it's not a firewall or antivirus software issue because both of those probs were addressed a long time ago when it was working fine at my previous address.

Netflix will not play on my Mac anymore after latest update...HELP!!

After latest update, Netflix will no longer play. When I select a movie, it prompts me to install Microsoft Silverlight, which I have repeatedly done. Netflix claims the latest MAC update is to blame, not a Netflix issue....PLEASE, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

ITunes on windows 7 does not recognise my iPhone 5 anymore

Today I tried to sync my iPhone 5, I updated it to the latest software and did the same on my PC . Now when I plug in my phone it shows the phone , but thinks its a new one and asks me to delete my phone then reconnect. However there's no backup I can use then. It's as if I have never used iTunes with this phone ever before . Im desperate here, I don't want to loose everything I have on the phone ;-( please help me. I've tried for 10 hours with nothing .

Using the USB ports on the back of computer (instead of the front ones) works without a problem.

My iPhone 4s will not connect with my mac pro

hey, so i have an iphone 4s with the latest update iOS7.1 and a macbok pro which is also up to date with itunes 11.1.5. The entire time ive had this computer and this phone all i had to do was connect the two via USB and my computer recognized my phone as well as itunes and proceeded to sync all my things automattically sometimes it would do it even if the devices werent connected but even if they were close in proximity they would connect, no problem. BUT now it will not do that when i connect it via usb neither one recognized that they are connected my phone will charge but thats about it, every once and a blue moon my phone will recognize the computer and ask if the computer is trusted to which i select "trust" and then it tells me its unable to connect but that barely happens most of the time nothing. Ive tried the typical restarting my computer, restarting itunes, searching for updates but its not just itunes that doesnt recognize my phone its my whole computer it seems, what could have happened to make these two devices unable to connect? how do i fix it?
