My ipad2 is stuck on home screen.

i've done hard reset.  what next?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Ipad 2 stuck on home screen

My ipad 2 stuck on home screen. I've done a hard restart and connected through MacBook to iTunes but as I can't respond from ipad, not registering connection. Please help.

    Hello jopoppy68,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPad.
I recommend following the steps below for an issue like this (you can skip the steps you have already tried):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

  • IMac stuck in home screen - mouse & keyboard don 't work after Apple Update

I just updated my iMac by hitting the Update button in the left upper screen.
After collecting 98.1 Mb of Update-tools i had to restart my iMac.
During shutdown it installed the components, as normal.
Once restarted, it brought me back to the home screen, where everything looked
normal. Problem is, that the iMac doesn 't respond to my mouse and keyboard anymore. Cursor is left of the apple in the left upper screen and doesn 't move an inch.
I discovered during a couple of restarts, that immediately as the apple appears in the white screen ... that Caps Lock modus is switched on. I am not able to switch it off.
Who knows what's wrong ? Please don t tell me to use my OS Tiger cd's .. because i later installed proper Leopard version, but these cd's are not with me at this moment.
    HELP !

    Hi !
Well, it is the wired keyboard and wired mouse. I tried as you told me,
but up untill now there 's no difference and everythings' still stuck ..
I tried the hardware test that you can do with CD 1 .. and everything
seems to work fine. At that point ( after startup hold D-button ) you can
    control both mouse and keyboard.
When you then choose for startup from Mac OS Hardrive ... the whole problem
starts again. Caps Lock is ON ( green light ) from the moment you enter the
    home screen.
The problem i have is that the original cd's that came with this imac intel duo core .. are OS Tiger. A friend of mine clean installed Snow Leopard 6.1. so i can t reinstall on a short term. I also would regret it if all my files would get lost.
Thanks for your quick respond. Please help me out !

    Hello hammergator,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is unresponsive but you are able to restart it, then I'd like you to try resetting it next.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

  • Apple TV stuck on home screen

Hi. After the last update I am unable to use my AppleTV G2. It's stuck on the home screen and it is completely unresponsive. I tried to connect it to iTunes via a micro USB and it doesn't show. Any suggestions.

It doesn't need to be specific to Kindle for it to work. But you may want to try a diferent cable in case there is an issue with the one you're currently using.
The port you're plugging into is also key, which is why I asked, and the version of iTunes as well.

  • My iPod is stuck on home screen.  Please help.

Okay, so heres what happened. I was downloading an app from the mobile app store and it started acted very weird. While the app was installing, it had the picture of the icon already loaded but it still had the "Installing" bar below it. It was taking forever but after awhile it just shut down and restarted. So after it restarted it just displayed the Apple logo startup screen, but it has been stuck there for three days now. The only way I can keep it from burning the image into the screen is to force shut down by holding the home button and the power button at the same time. I have read about many people having this problem after jail breaking their iPods but mine isn't jail broken. Also, I tried reseting it to factory settings via iTunes but it displays a weird error and says reset error and cant reset. Also, now it locks up iTunes every time I connect it. This is unbelievably frustrating and I hope someone can help me with my problem.

  • Ipad2 goes back to home screen during pdf download, and aborts download

Ipad2 goes back to homescreen during pdf download.  Have done shut downs, cleared active screens, etc.  Still occurs about 1 minute in to a download

When was the last time you powered your iPhone off and on?
Try a reset instead which is similar to a computer restart. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.

  • IPhone 5 stuck on home screen and there are codes at the top??

So I plugged the phone in and it started charging like it should. When it had enough juice the Apple logo flashed and it should'be pushed me to the main screen of my iPhone. Instead it stayed on the start up screen with the apple logo and there are codes at the top of the screen that start with [nand]. There are about 10 rows of it. What should I do?

This error is hardware related and you should get the phone serviced by visiting an Apple Store or an Authorized Apple Service Provider.

  • Ipad2 plus ipad air all of a sudden instantly goes back to home screen.doesnt matter what app i am using just when it decides to do it it does.apple tech has no answer or fix for me does anybody have any idea what is wrong

ipad2 plus ipad air all of a sudden instantly goes back to home screen.doesnt matter what app i am using just when it decides to do it it does.apple tech has no answer or fix for me does anybody have any idea what is wrong

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Could also be not enough free space for the iPad to operate efficiently. With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free.  For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.
If neither of these suggestions helps, Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My App Store Icon is stuck in Newsstand. How do I get it out and back on to home screen?

My App Store Icon is stuck in Newsstand. How do I get it out and back on to home screen? Have tried via itunes to move it and also swipping it - just won't come out.

I have the same problem!  Let me know if you manage to sort it out.  My iPad did the same thing but to full restore from iTunes sorted that out. Have you tried that? No such luck with my iPhone.

  • My ipad is stuck on the apple logo and wont return to the home screen. I plugged it into my itunes but I don't know what to do from there. Can someone please help?

Hi, I'm having trouble with my Ipad 2. I was recently playing a game and my ipad just shut off on me. Then when I turned it back on it was stuck on the Apple Logo and it won't go to the home screen at all. I plugged it in my itunes but I don't know what to do from there. I left it charged hoping the apple logo would dissappear but it didn't and now for some reason the battery is always dead.  I really need help. Does anybody have any suggestions? Please.

Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
