My ipad2 screen will not rotate

My iad2 screen won't rotate.

The controler for the rotation lock is configurable and could be in one of two places. First check the small switch on the right side of the iPad (just above the volume rocker). If that isn't controlling rotation, double click the home button and then swipe to the right in teh app tray to locate the vlume and otehr controls. the far left control is for rotation lock or mute, depending on how you have it set.
NOTE: Some apps do not rotate (by design).
To set the side switch control function, open the Settings app > General and scroll down for the "Use side Switch to:" section. Whateer you do not set the side switch for, the app will handle.

  • My iPad screen will not rotate.

IIn settings there is. Check mark by 'lock rotation' .   Is thisreverting my screen from rotating?  If so, how do I unlock it?

Do you see an icon in the upper right corner of your screen that looks like a small lock with a circular arrow around it? If so that icon is telling you that you have screen rotation locked and the screen will not rotate. To turn this off depends on the version of iOS that is on your iPad. The latest versions of iOS have the Control Center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Control Center and look for that icon. Tap on it to turn it off or on.
Your iPad may also have the side switch set to lock rotation. This switch is on the side of the iPad. Toggle the switch and see if the icon for Rotation Lock disappears from your screen.

  • My ipod touch screen will not rotate

My screen will not rotate. I understand it does not rotate when the keyboard is open, but is ther a rotate lock button somewhere?

If the screen rotation feture is locked(3G and 4G only) here will be a circled arrow with a pdlock inside shown on the upper right part of the iPod's screen. You access the lock by double clicking the Home button and going all the way to the left on the lower part of the screen.  you will either see a circled arrow or the circled arrow with a padlock inside.  Tap to change.

  • My 6th gen nano screen will not rotate, stuck perpendicular to buttons

All of a sudden, my 6th gen nano screen will not rotate. I have it on a watch band and it is perpendicular to the buttons (and my view of it).

planb77, you have truly taught me a lesson, and after all these years, I finally see that it is very helpful to READ THE MANUAL.  I was having this issue, and it was spell out for me all this time.  I never liked to look at the manual to resolve my technical issues, but I will always go there first to see if I can resolve any issues.

  • Iphone screen will not rotate

Help, again. My Iphone 5 screen will not rotate

Be sure Orientation Lock is disabled. Swipe up from above the Home button to reveal Control Center, then tap on the padlock icon at the far-right corner in the top row so that it's NOT white/light. Only certain Apple apps (like Messages and Safari) will work in landscape mode. Third-party apps depend on the app itself and if the app is setup to work in landscape. The Home screen will not rotate to landscape on the iPhone 5, 5s or 5c despite any settings.

  • HT6058 my ipad screen will not rotate since latest update

my ipad scrren will not rotate since latest update, i have done everything i can think of including wha tapple told me

What have you tried, and what did Apple tell you ?
Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). The function that isn't on the side switch is set via control centre instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If there isn't a lock symbol then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • HT204380 My FaceTime screen will not rotate.  Everything is sideways.  How can I fix that please.

Face time will not rotate the screen.  It used to, but now it will not.  Could someone help please.

Quit FaceTime completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the FaceTime app icon. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Then try again.
If that does not work, try rhis. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Then try FaceTime after the iPad restarts.

  • Ipad2 screen does not rotate

The screen on my ipad2 does not rotate when using any of the applications. I have done a reset, reboot and checked the orientation lock - none of these have made any difference.
I've heard that something can break inside? How can I check if that is the case and therefore get a replacement/refund?
    Thanks

    1. Make sure the Side Switch is set to Lock Rotation: Settings>General

  • I-PAD SCREEN WILL NOT ROTATE

When I unlock the I-pad screen it still will not rotate

Try a system reset first.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
Post back with results and, if necessary, we'll go further.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
