iOS devices cannnot be tracked or located with just the serial number. Unless you shared your Apple ID and password with anyone, then your account cannot be accessed at the iTunes Store.

Unit was blocked by code and Find My Phone enebled but appears offline..

There is something wrong really. I could not locate my second iPhone2 (replacement for the stolen one) with cover closed (and pin locked). Impossible to locate it at all. I had to turn the location services off and on again and since this it started to work. But even so, it does not update the location - it just show the last located place (like one hour ago) until is pin unlocked. This is useless. By BB bold 9900 is possible to find on map even when is in holster and pinlocked. All it need is GSM signal. It show circle where it may be and when is on GPS signal, it update the ring diametre automatically - all without need to unlock the phone with pin code.
Please try to check it, if it does not work when the iPad is pinlocked, then it does not have sense.

The only way to track it is if it was running iOS 5 or higher, you set up iCloud on it and enabled Find My iPad.
If you did, you may be able to track it on icloud.com as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.

I don't believe you can get your serial number from Apple since they have know way of knowing that you are indeed you, but you can call Apple tech support at 1-800-275-2273 (if you have a cellphone or can make an 800 call from school) and ask.
Otherwise, if you have access to a computer to which you synced the iPod, or someone you can call does, you can find the serial number in iTunes on that computer. See:

No, you need separate iCloud accounts. If you want to maintain separate Address Books you and your wife should have separate user accounts on your Mac anyway.
You can setup separate Address Book groups within a Address Book in a single Mac user account.

You can set up an account on any iOS device or Mac with the compliant operating system, and sign into it on other compliant devices, but 'Find My iPhone' has to be enabled on the device in question before it goes missing.

No, Firefox has no tracking features to help you. There is security software which needed to be installed before it was lost which could give the IP Address of where that laptop is being used. Are you sure your laptop didn't have that type of software installed?

If she refuses, then as Tim suggested the iPhone is probably stolen. You'll need to contact your local police department and ask how to proceed.
