My ipad2 will not charge or start

what do i do, my ipad2 will not charge or start?

First make sure that you are using the charger that came with the iPad and have plugged that into a wall outlet. Keep in mind that if the battery is completely drained it make take up to an hour on the charger before the iPad responds. So wait one hour then, while the iPad is still plugged in, reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is 100%.
If the iPad does not start consider these troubleshooting steps.
1. Bad outlet. Make sure the outlet is providing power.
2. Bad charger. Try a different charger.
3. Bad cable. Try a different cable.
4. Dirt, fuzz, or lint in the connection ports. Check and casually clean if necessary.
5. Software failure. First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
6. Hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

after downloading ISO8 my USB Ports on my IMAC arnt working and now my iPad2 will not charge? even tried to use 240v charger? both my iMac and iPad have been updated, my mini iPad is working on old iso7 so that won't be updated in a hurry, any help would be great.

First is the most USB ports do not provide enough power to charge an iPad. Do not try and charge your iPad from such USB ports.
There is no 240v charger. There is one charger that will work with US voltages and European voltages. If your iPad is not charger with the charger, make certain that is an iPad charger, not an iPhone charger. If the charger does not work try swapping the cable as the cable may be bad. If that does not work try another charger. All simple steps that should be attempted before pinning the problem on IOS 8.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • Ipad2 will not charge

I have tried several chargers and my iPhone charges but the IPad will not charge. The home button does not work either.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.
The defective Home may not allow you to do a reset.

  • The battery in my ipad2 will not charge?

I let my iPad2 drain its battery - like I´ve sometimes done before.  But now it only shows the battery sign with the red line and then it´s goes blank   What to do??

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPod Touch will not charge or start- tried must of the ideas from other discussions

    Hi there,
I tried holding down the home button at the same time as the power button for several seconds/minutes and it will not respond.
I used my iPod touch 2 weeks a go. I did not used it since than and now it will not respond to anything. I tried plungung it to the computer and nothing.
I have an iPhone, iPad and 2 iPods so I know it is not the charger (I have tried all 4 of them).
    Any other alternatives?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • My ipad2 will not charge, switch on or connect to itunes is there any way i can do a restore or will this not help anyway?

is there any way i can over ride this?

You can try to place the iPad into recovery mode and see if it will restore. I don't know of anything else that you could try if the iPad is totally unresponsive.
I would let it charge for a while first - even if you have tried to let it charge already. This article explains recovery mode.

  • My ipad2 will not charge or turn on, how do i fix it

i used 2 different cables, tried usb to pc and 110 with both, tested outlets and usb ports for power, all good, I am stuck, how do i fix it?
    thanks in advance for responding

Have you tried a soft-reset (i.e. reboot) to see if that gets it to boot up ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo will hopefully appear.

  • My iPad2 will not charge...

The iPad is out of battery, and when I plug in the charger (mains) it doesn't even recognise that the charger has been connected.
I have had this issue intermittently for a month or so.
I have replaced the USB lead a couple of weeks ago, this als makes no difference...
I have attempted a full reset, but this makes no difference at all...
    Any Ideas??

Common?  No.  Possible?  Yes.  I would think that the likely problem is damage at the connector port due to stress incurred due to plugging and unplugging.  Related to that could be the cables have failed.  Those two things could be identified at the genius bar.  As far as the warranty being gone, they still can offer to replace the device for the out of warranty repair fee, which should be significantly less than buying a new device.  Of course if you are on an iPad 2, You would probably be happier (if poorer) shifting to an iPad 4, or an iPad Air with more memory, and a warranty that you could extend by purchasing applecare.
    Best of luck.

  • My ipad2 is not charging. Can I access my mail through my desktop?

My newish ipad2 will not charge. I've checked the socket and charger on my son's iphone and they are fine. I just get a black screen, if I click the home button I get a battery icon with red top for 5 seconds, then black screen again.  Can I access my icloud and emails through my windows desktop?

To know if it's really charging or not, note the percentage, plug it into your PC for an hour and then unplug it and check the percentage again.
Another thing to note, most USB ports only charge if the PC is on. (even macs to be honest) so to charge through your comptuer you have to leave the computer on. In some cases, letting it go to sleep will even stop the charging. The supplied power brick is honestly the best and fastest way to charge your iPad.

  • Ipad2 will not start ,just dead.battery is charged

Ipad2 will not start ,just dead.battery is charged

Mine had a similar thing happen after a few weeks, except that mine wouldn't even start until I'd done the reset - I havn't had a problem since. Unless you start getting regular problems I wouldn't get too concerned. And it may have been caused by apps that you've downloaded, so it may not necessarily be down to the operating system or Apple's apps - but no code is bug free.

  • I was updating my Ipad2 and when it was done it went to the apple logo and wont leave that screen it also will not charge

I was updating my Ipad2 and when it was done it went to the apple logo and wont leave that screen it also will not charge. Ive tried resetting and it turns off for a second then come right back to the Apple screen.

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • Macbook Pro shut down because the battery power ran out. Now I cannot start it and the battery will not charge. Only one green battery charge light lights up and blinks.

My Macbook Pro shut down because the battery power ran out. Now I cannot start it and the battery will not charge. Only one green battery charge light lights up and blinks on the left side. I am running Lion. How do I get this to charge and turn on? Thanks

If your model Macbook Pro is the calibrating model, let the battery calibrate.
If not, and are still under warrant or have Apple Care, give them a call and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.
