My Ipad2 won't turn off.  I have tried the reset method by holding both buttons down for at least 10 seconds, but this doesn't work.  I can't get onto the internet via wi-fi either (don't have a 3G card fitted).  All other functions seem to be working OK including charging. Not had this problem before, but I recently upgraded software to 5.1.1 so is there a bug in there somewhere?

    Look at last link.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • TS3274 My Ipad display is stuck on portrait mode. I tried the toggle switch, turning off and restart and just now backed up into Itunes and restored and still is stuck on portrait mode and it won't flip to landscape mode. Is this a hardware problem?

Has lock rotation been accidentally enabled within the control centre? If you swipe up the screen is there a circle with a lock symbol & if so is is greyed out or white - if white it is enabled.

  • After I updated to iOS 5.1, my iPad2 won't rotate anymore.

I updated to iOS 5.1. the other day, and my iPad2 won't rotate anymore even if the screen is not locked. I went to service center, and after testing the iPad's accelerometer playing some game, the guy at the service center thought that it is not a hardware problem, but more on the 5.1 update. Weird thing is, I enabled the "assistive touch" feature's "rotate screen" function, and the screen rotates, although with prompting. That is, it will rotate only after I choose or unchoose to either "rotate screen" to portrait or left or right. Anyone else who has experienced this? Any suggestions how to fix this?

First of all, check again at "Settings > General" and view the Side Switch configuration.
If "Mute" is selected, then double-click the Home button, swip right the icon bar at the bottom and confirm the "Lock Rotation" icon is not locked.
If "Lock Rotation" is selected, then turn the Side Switch a couple of times in order to force the rotation again.
I hope this will help you.
    Kind regards

My ipad2 won't accept my apple password for new app install. I've tried several time and get a pop up "unknown error". Help?

Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again.

Try rebooting the iPad.  Hold its Sleep and Home buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  After the iPad restarts, see if works any better.

  • Trying to flip around a specified anchor point

Here's what I have so far:
    tell selection
    duplicate
    flip
    end tell
This results in the object being flipped around whatever anchor point is targeted in the control palette, but I don't know how to specify a particular anchor point within the script. Can any one help? I'm sure this is simple, and I'm just not finding it. Thanks!

  • IPhone screen won't flip horizontally for videos

After I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 my screen won't flip horizontally for video clips. It does flip for YouTube but not for music videos.
    Please fix!!

This is ridiculous.  Half the time it will go horizontally to a song that isn't even playing.  The other half of the time it's a tiled screen with album covers.  They have the most stupid things that don't work right!

  • IPad screen won't flip anymore

My iPad won't flip the screen anymore. If I turn it horizontally, it stays vertical unless I turn it off with the top button and turn it back on. It's the same if it's  horizontal. It won't flip vertically if I turn it. How do I fix this?

Try flipping the little black switch - the side switch - above the volume rocker on the side of the iPad. If that doesn't work, double tap the home button and the task bar appears. Swipe all the way to the right in the task bar and look all the way on the left and there may be a lock icon there. Tap it to unlock the screen rotation.
You can set the side switch to lock the screen or mute system sounds. Go to Settings>General>Set Sidw Switch to: and select Lock Rotation or Mute System Sounds.

Just got an ipad used it a couple of times and when I went to use it last the screen won't flip and I must use it sideways only? Did I accidently press a button or change the settings somehow or is it broken? Any advice would be great, thanks!

    HI,
Top right side of your iPad there's a switch (screen rotation lock button) just above the volume button. Push it up.
