My iPad4 won't charge or start up.

My iPad won't charge or shut down properly.  Sometimes, the Apple logo starts, then the circle emblem comes, followed by the low battery symbal or it turns on for a bit with a quick shot of the main page, then it shuts down only for it to start the cycle over.  I've tried to hold the power and home buttons on, but nothing seems to work.  Once, I held it long enough for the connect to itunes logo to come on which indicated recovery mode, but when I went to check on the update, itunes had stopped recognizing my iPad.  Not sure what to do.

Force your iPad into recovery mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
This should then be recognised by your computer and you can then factory reset your device.

Sounds like it is time to take it back to Apple and ask them to repair it for you.

  • IPHONE WON'T CHARGE OR START UP

my phone 3gs today will not charge, is now dead, and will not turn on

I had a similar thing happen.  I had it on a USB charger all night on my PC.  It was still dead in the morning, whereas it usually charges in an hour.  It's not like I noticed charge times take longer or shorter lately.  It's not like the phone hasn't been holding a charge lately.  Just last night BAM and it's dead and won't charge.
I brought the phone to work and had it on a different cable charging from my work computer.  Several hours of this and nothing.  I looked online.  I found your post and a few others.  And now, I've got it working.  Here's what I did.
1.) From the screen where it was a red line on a dead battery, I held the power button down until it officially shut down.
2.)  I unplugged the charging cable and took the case off the phone.
3.)  I found a paper clip and used it to remove the SIM card, and left it out for a few seconds.
4.)  I put the SIM card back in, plugged the cable back in, and powered it up - in that order.
After it started up it showed it was fully charged!  Just a minute before it showed as fully drained of charge.  I think that the problem was not with the battery itself but the charge detector.  When you let the charge get too low, it can't even tell how much power is there like when a person has hypothermia and looses simple brain fuction and can't even process sugar as fuel.
If you usually charge in a cradle type charging station, go to Best Buy and get the iPod USB charging cable.  Pop the SIM card out for good luck, and then see if it turns on with the cable plugged in.
By the way, if problems continue you should check the power scheme of your computer's USB ports.  Some have a function that puts to sleep USB ports that are not in use (Windows 7).

  • IPod touch 5th gen won't charge or start up

I recently had to give up my iPhone and went to get my iPod. It wouldn't start up at first so I tried turning it on. Which didn't work so I figured the battery was dead. I plugged it in and the battery symbol thing pops up after a minute and only shows up for 3 seconds then the screen goes dark and it keeps repeating the process which leads me to believe it will not charge no matter what I do. I tried holding the power button, I also tried holding the power and home button only to find out my efforts did nothing. My computer won't find it if its plugged into the USB (USB 3.0 port) and its just frustrating because it worked perfectly before I got my phone.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you are stuck on the Apple log you may need to restore.
    Before you do, try this
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears
    If that doesn't help, restore:

  • Macbook pro sleep light stays and won't charge or start up

Closed my macbook pro 2011 model before work today (it had barely any battery power left) and came home to a problem. The sleep indicator was on but very was dim and my charger would not work. I noticed that the green light would come on but very faintly and my computer would not start up either. I am curious to what may have caused this problem.

Also the battery level indicator would not work.

  • N8 won't charge or start

I've noticed a lot of nokia n8's with the same problem, except their all new devices, mine is an older device, 12 months I've had it and it's not starting up or charging etc, recently there's a crack been made and I can't help thinking it's because of the crack but I believe it's not big enough to cause a problem. Help?

  • PB won't charge or start up

The power indicator is lit orange, but my battery ran out and now it isn't charging nor will my computer start up. I tried resetting the power managment but it didn't help. Any suggestions before I take it in to the apple store tomorrow?? Thanks.

Not fair!! Where are you? I've been waiting for a logic board replacement since June 9th! It's supposed to be coming in on July 10th.
Incidentally, we had the same problem as the OP - logic board replacement is going to be the answer (well, it had better be).

  • New nano won't charge or start up... SOLUTION

    HI there,
I'm just posting this in case anyone out there bought or received a nano for Christmas and had the same problem I had.
The nano I bought, when plugged, in showed a black and white screen (not colour). I was able to copy iTunes songs onto the nano but it would refuse to charge or operate when disconnected from the computer. Charging was done correctly via a fully powered USB2 port.
Despite charging the nano via a computer overnight, as soon as the nano was disconnected, I got the folder icon with an exclamation mark and it didn't work. I tried numerous resets and restarts to no avail.
In the end, I discovered the solution was to RESTORE the nano, not RESET it. On a Mac this is done by going to Applications -> Utilities -> Ipod Software Updater -> finding the most recent version of the updater and simply runing it. After that you just follow the prompts.
Immediatley after doing this my nano sprang into life in full colour, and I saved myself a trip to the Apple Store!
Restoring is mentioned in the nano manual but I think it really should to be highlighted in bold or something, because I suspect this could be a common issue. Official instructions are here

  • Muvo2 / Muvo2 Battery Won't charge or Start!

hey all, i had my Muvo2 for about 2 months, no probs and a great device!however today i noticed the battery had no bars left but i carried on playing, presuming it would just switch off when it had no juice left.
anyway i got home (was listening through AUX port in my car stereo) and shoved in on charge. Came back and the battery felt hotter (not stupidly hot but like it had been charging) but it wouldnt switch on. Also there was no battery indicator on the screen. I searched on here and found one identical problem but the thread had 2 replies and no resolution! I tried the new firmware but as the USB to my computer wont acknowledge the player, I can't load the new firmware on. i tried the plugging it in and switching it on and off at the wall several times trick with no improvement!any help guys!! much appreicated

Just to add to the MuVo?4 rescue mode ...
I find it is not easy to balance the player, hold your finger dead center on the Menu button without tilting AND inserting the battery. I have had instances where a good minute of tries was needed to get into Rescue Mode. Of course there needs to be some charge in the battery to get there.
Not being recognized by Windows on a computer that has the Creative driver installed is not a good sign. Make sure that connection is direct to a port and not through a hub. If you can get Windows to see the MuVo?4 as removeable storage I suggest running a Disk Scan, then gracefully disconnecting and try again.
My MuVo?4 (got it Dec-03) is now showing a failing hard dri've (I hope that is not the case for yours) and it does some really odd things when trying to get it to be recognized by Windows. It still will work, sometimes ...
    good luck with it,
    jake

  • MacBook Air won't charge or start.

Adapter doesn't show a light at all. Nearest service center and/or Apple store is 45 minutes away. The computer fell about 2 feet last night, but was working fine until the battery died. Trying to determine if it just needs a new adapter, or if I need to make a drive.

Yes, however you would be much better backing it up to iTunes to do this rather than iCloud.
