My iPhone 3G Has a Dead Pixel

So my iPhone that i've had for about a month has a tiny weeny dead pixel below the battery indicator. I've already contacted Apple and they said that they will swap it out, but if you were in my shoes would you replace it or not?

dead pixels are common in any type of lcd based screen however, if u are able to notice it u will always see that, why live with something less than perfect if u dont have to?
You shouldn't have to put up with it with a brand new iPhone. The iPhone is covered under AT&T's two year and Apple's year warranty. Feel free to bring it to your closest AT&T store for any iPhone or accessory that came with the box and they will replace it. As long as it is not lost or stolen. (I lost my ear buds and had to pay for it. Doh.)

My iPhone 4 has been dead for 24 hours and I've been charging it for 12 hours and it still won't turn on. I have tried holding the lock button and home button down, even connected it to computer but nothing's happening, it randomly died on me.

    Hi Lauren,
When troubleshooting power issues, we want to make sure we have followed all steps outlined in the following article:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    - Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    - Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    - Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    - After at least 15 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    - If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    - Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to
restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    - If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Thanks,

  • My MacBook Pro Retina 2013 has a Dead Pixel

I just noticed my MacBook Pro Retina has a dead pixel in it. It is black then changes to white when on a black screen. (It's just one) It just came out of no where, and I wanted to know if I was still in Warranty? And if not how mush would it cost to repair it?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your Mac is in warranty if you purchased it less than a year ago. In this case, you can try taking the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to see if they can replace the screen, although I have seen cases in which Apple refused to replace it if there was only one dead pixel. You do not lose anything by trying this.
Before taking the MacBook, make a backup of your files on an external drive with Time Machine.

  • My four months old retina 15" has a dead pixel

    Hey!
My four months old macbook pro retina 15" has a dead pixel, clearly visable in the screen, and my question is " does the warranty covers it?"

    Thanks for answering...
Okey, do I need to go to the shop where I bought it? Or could I go to an apple shop located near me? And how long time does it take for them to replace the screen?
    Best regards,
    Jack H

  • My iPhone 5 has been dead for weeks.. I just now found it and I plugged it in.. How long should it take for it to turn on?

My iPhone 5 has been dead for weeks.. I just now found it and plugged it in, how long should it take for it to turn on??

I think that the battery is dead because , if you don't charge it for a long time the battery will ruin. You must wait, with the charger plugged, for a long time to turn it on. it could be also a worse problem and you have to replace your battery

  • Iphone has a dead pixel, will apple exchange for a new one?

I just noticed a dead pixel on the center of iphones display. The pixel is tiny but my eyes keeps fixating on them and its annoying. What should I do?

They will replace it, they have reserves for replacement that often the manager is the only one aware of. I had the same problem and it drove me NUTS! The manger replaced it with his emergency secret stash. I feel so much better now and my new one is perfect. That one pixel in the middle of the screen was so annoying!

  • Screen has black/dead pixels and line across screen.

My iphone is still under its one year warranty. I can not recall any drops or it ever being handled roughly, however I have a black/gray blob of dead pixels in the left corner and my screen has a shiny line that looks like a crack of the LCD, however the glass screen is not cracked in any way that I can tell. I think the dead pixels are spreading as well. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know if this is under warranty? I live over an hour and a half from the nearest apple store so I really don't want to take a special trip to see a genius only to find out that I will have to pay $200 to get this fixed. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

If it is still under warranty, they should replace the screen without charging you. The same thing happened to me a few months ago and they replaced it for free. You might have to make the long trip to the store but they shouldn't charge you and it will take about 30 minutes. Call to make an appointment first if you plan to go to the apple store.

  • Hi I have an iPad 2 it's only 4 months old I've dropped it once and has a dent in top right hand corner and also has a dead pixel would anyone know if apple will repair or replace my iPad ?

If anyone can give me some advice on this subject would be great!!!

If you purchased the AC+ coverage package then yes, they will, the first of two times you're covered for accidental damage and it will cost you $45.
If you did not purchase it then yes, they will, but they won't repair it but will, instead, replace it for somewhere around $400. I seem to remember that that price was independent of model, but you'd have to check.
Absent the accidental damage they probably would have replaced your iPad for free as a matter of course due to the dead pixel, but I'd expect that option to be off the table.
You can always live with it, as long as the dent doesn't seem to have dislodged the screen. They will sometimes come loose as a result; check for increased light leakage in a darkened room, perhaps just looking at the backlighting, to see if that has happened.

  • I think my 4s has a dead pixel?

This is my 4th iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4 and now 4s. I e gas it about 2 weeks and just noticed a small black dot in the upper right, it is not dirt and is present on all screens. Could this be a dead pixel? If so is this grounds enough for a replacement? Thanks.

If you need you battery replaced see below, or bring it in to Apple Store for them to have a look, besides battery the hardisk might also be at the end of life.
    iPod Owners
Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your coverage to two years from the date of your iPod purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod. During the plan’s coverage period, Apple will replace the battery if it drops below 50% of its original capacity. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery replacement for $49 (iPod shuffle), $59 (iPod nano and classic), $79 (iPod touch) plus $6.95 shipping, subject to local tax. Apple disposes of your battery in an environmentally friendly manner.
    Have a nive day.

  • My new iPad has a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. Can I get it replaced?

I've heard that there is a minimum number of dead pixels before apple will replace it. Very frustrating because otherwise the screen is perfect, and it's one of those things you can't stop looking at. What can I do? I don't live near an apple store so I fear that shipping it away is the only option.
    Any help is appreciated!

Given that you can return/exchange it for any reason within the 14-day window after you bought it, you shouldn't have any problems.
Do you live near an Apple retail store? That may be your best bet. It certainly worked for me: I ordered mine online and when I noticed an air bubble embedded in the glass, I brought it to my local Apple Store and 15 minutes later walked out with a replacement. No fuss whatsoever.

  • MacBook Pro w/Retina has moving dead pixel (white)

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro w/Retina and have an annoying issue that comes up from time to time. Once in a while a bright white pixel will appear in the middle of the screen. It stays put while it is there and I can drag screens around and nothing changes but then suddenly it will go away. After awhile it will popup in a new location and the same thing will happen. Any ideas what this might be? Is it an issue with my screen?

Anyone reading in 2013/2014 running Mavericks (and worth a try with earlier OS) and having this issue on an external display, I wrote about the deceptively simple solution here: http://forums.macworld.com/index.php?/topic/153791-dead-pixel-or-something-else/
Basically, in display preferences try moving the menu bar (that small white rectangle on the arrangement screen back and forth...that's it.

  • Macbook Pro Retina has 3 dead pixel clutter

I have had my Macbook Pro Retina for a month and i have 3 dead pixel clutters. It first started with one, know there's two more. Should i wait to take it to the apple store to have it replaced or fixed.

Definitely not normal. A month is a bit long for a replacement though. Take it back and they should be able to repair it though.

  • My iPad Third Gen has a dead pixel

Basically in the middle of my ipad screen i have a white dot on my screen. I rung apple they said it will be replaced over the phone or i could go to the store will the store actually replace my ipad 3 for this. Also do they still stock the old discontinued ipad 3 ?
    Thanks
Ps under the border of my ipad there appears to be a white line not sure why??

Dead pixels are covered under warranty. No questions asked.
White line at the bottom sounds like light shield leakage. Should also be covered.
    Good luck
