My iphone 3gs batttery expanded and destroyed the phone!
After charging my iphone 3gs, the battery expanded to the poinbt it detroyed the phone. The battery actually bent and deformed the circuit board, it put so much pressure on the back of the screen that the screen popped off and cannot be replaced.
I went to the Apple Store where I was very nicely told that the useful life of the device is two or three years and that is why the warranty period is one year, that batteries are tricky, and that they could really not do anything for me. They suggested I got the phone wet, that I charged the phone in extreme conditions of temperature... both a big negative!
I asked point blank... "so all my apple products (which i have a lot!) could self destruct after the warranty period?"
Response: "yes"
what can I do?
no other device, except old flashlights, have self destructed!
Fodder for discussion!

This is not a blog site; it is a technical support site.
I'm sorry to hear that your battery failed in a destructive manner; Lithium batteries sometimes do that (witness the Li Ion batteries in the Boeing 787). If your phone got wet the moisture indicators would have turned red. Did they? If they are red the phone MUST have gotten wet; the indicators don't lie. But most likely the battery reached its end of life in a dramatic way. At least it didn't explode or catch fire; there have been no reports of iPhone batteries doing that (but there are many reports of batteries in other cell phones doing just that).
The Apple store representative was correct in saying that iPhones (and all other consumer devices) have a limited life expectation. That's why cell phone providers offer discounted upgrades every 18-24 months (and now every year for AT&T), regardless of the model phone you have.
Some Apple store managers have offered to replace phones that have this failure mode for the cost of a battery replacement ($79), but that is up to the individual store manager. You might want to try for that scenario.

My iphone 3GS battery exploded, and made the whole phone bloated.
My iphone 3GS battery exploded, and made the whole phone bloated. I contact my local apple support and they said it is a normal case when battery is used for more than one year. Where else can I can some reasonable explanations and solution from apple about my phone. My phone cannot be used, and I have lost alot of valuable data and photos. Can I recover them? What can I do now?
If you've been using your phone as recommended, you've been syncing your data to your computer frequently, and importing any photos taken by the iPhone to your computer (or using photostream). If you havent' been doing this, then you've no one to blame for any data loss and any phone, which can be damaged, dropped, stolen or otherwixe become inoperable was NEVER meant to be a storage device.
As far as your battery is concern, is is NOT normal for the battery to "explode" after a year. Contact an authorized Apple service provider or Apple itself to see what your replacement options are. -

HELP. My iPhone 3GS passcode lock and forgot the passcode. How to get back?
The only reason you use bluetooth between iPad/iPhone its to share the internet from iPhone to wifi only iPad.
In order to see the bluetooth connection, you must first enable the Personal Hotspot on the iPhone.
Then on the iPhone, open Setting s> Bluetooth.
Then open the Bluetooth on the iPad adn pair teh devices. -

I upgraded my IPhone 3gs IOS, when power up the phone, ask to connect to ITune. When tried to connect to Itune, iTune show a message "We could not complete your iTune request"
Hello MHGOH,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following troubleshooting assistant may lead you to a resolution of this issue. If you continue to receive an error message when connecting your iPhone, simply restarting both the phone and your computer may help:

Original iPhone using 2.0 and now the phone won't ring
Anyone else have an issue with your 1st gen iPhone not ringing after installing 2.0? I have shut it off (then turned it back on), reset it, reinstalled 2.0 a couple times but the phone still will not ring. Oh and yes the phone is not set to silent using the switch above the volume control.
Second issue is iPod sometimes will not play through speaker, works when after reset.I am now on my 4th 1st generation iphone. I bought the phone new. I've now had to see the "genious" people more times than I'd care to. They "say" they replace with new phones!!!? The latest issues is that it shuts itself down and will not start without resetting it. Then, once that's done, and I shut it down, it will not start back again. The "genious" on the phone says to restore it to factory.. and again, SAME issue. Buggy is not even close. I bought the bluetooth, and that was 2 "new" iphones, plus 3 new bluetooth headsets. So, here I go again, to the APPLE "genious" bar again.. In total, I've spent more time on this phone, fixing it's numerous issues.. Not to mention... GAS PRICES>>>>>>>> I wonder if they have a reimibursement form for how much gas I've had to use to see these idiots?...Makes me want to return it, and go back to my treo!.... Anyone else haveing these issue, please contact me directly... I'm all about a product working correctly... and spending the money on the first gen. phones, just ticks me off. [email protected]

Just updated my 4s to iSo 6 and now the phone does to pair with my Lexus anyone have/solve this issue? Is it a firmware problem with the car?
Was it pairing before the iOS update?
If so, delete the pairings in the device and the car, then try again.
If it was not, the issue is most likely the car. -
?
Like i said above, it shouldnt be a problem. If they do look up the serial number and its someone elses name on the account, just let them know that you bought the phone and you would like to have your own information put on the account instead.

My iPhone 3Gs has frozen and I can't do anything except turn it off by hard boot. When I plug it in, I have the apple icon and that is all. It was at 43 percent battery life when it happened and my Twitter app was giving me problems. Thoughts?
Put it in recovery mode and restore it as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.

I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger not supported sign every minute or two. I decided to turn it off for the night and the next morning it worked fine and only the bottom sensor was triggered. Why does it still work and how long will it last?
Water in itself will not kill electronic components if you let it dry out. Your first reaction to turn it off was a good one but you could have waited even longer.
It also depends what's on your water that will stay after the water itself had dried; like salt. Anything that iseither acid or conductor left on the circuit board will reduce the life of the board. Given said this, no one could state how long your iPhone will work since no one will know for sure where the water had time to infiltrate before you removed your device and no one what's may left there.
Consider yourself lucky. I don't understand however what you mean by a sensor triggered.
