My iphone 3GS crashed after iOS4.0.2
Hi,
I installed iOS4.0.2 last week. My phone crashed after that and not coming up. So I tried to restore from itunes, my iphone is at recovery mode and didn't started after that. Even now my iPhone 3GS is not displayed in iTunes.
I checked USB port; reinstall iTunes etc. But my phone is not coming up. It is showing only one screen ( connect to iTunes) and iTunes is not showing any sign of iPhone.
Suggest how can I restore my iPhone 3GS.
It sounds as if you had a similar problem to me.
Does iTunes try to reset and restore your iphone and you get an error message 1604?
I tried everything that was suggest by Apple, and then someone on here said try a different computer and it worked. So if you can access a different computer it's worth a try.

Iphone 3gs crashed after installing new ios update
Please help. I just installed the newest ios update to my daughters iphone 3gs. It installed successfully, i thought. Then about 10 minutes later it said verifying update. It went off and now tries to come back on and the apple icon flashes for a few seconds and goes back off. I have tried a hard reset (both home and off buttons held down) and it does the same thing:( Please help me!

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy... Perform a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

Hi. It seems people have been having some troubles with the new 3.1.2 software update. So have I.
I just got my new 3GS and was thrilled to start using it. When I installed iTunes to unlock the phone I was recommended to do an upgrade. "Of course" I thought.
The upgrade failed. (Code 1604.)
I tried following these steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275 (and, yes, I actually followed the steps exactly - except from the contacting apple part).
The problem remains. Is there something wrong with the new software?
I just freaking unwrapped the phone! It's barely a few hours old. (The few hours I've been trying to solve the problem is the few hours it has been used.) Should I run it over with my bike or just slam it to the floor?
Ok, I could just leave it to an Apple dealer but that takes time. I want this sucker to work right now.. I haven't even tried it out.
Got any advice?Ah, nevermind. This problem was actually fixed with another computer. I tried three different computers with the same results. The fourth did the trick though.

I have the same problem. The downoad went smoothly with no errors displayed. My phone updated just fine, all my apps appeared and nothing was lost. The phone with iOS5 worked perfectly for about two hours and suddenly, nothing. No home+lock button combo, no home button, no response when placed on a charger, my computer won't even recognize that a device has been plugged in. This is horribly frustrating, especially considering how much searching I had to do just to find out that someone else had this problem. I hope mine wakes up for a second in the morning at least.

In trying to include what information all that I could I should have specified I DON'T KNOW THAT IT WAS DEFINATELY JAILBROKEN when I took it to the apple store they told me there's no way for them to tell if it was jail broken or not. I'm only going by what ppl have told me COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO THE PHONE. With that said the only thing I know for sure is that the apple tech at the Genius Bar told me that someone took control of my root menu in February & I've had no control of my phone since. I asked him how to regain control & how he knew his exact words were "oh that is out of our scope of capabilities here at this level & you would need an apple engineer to fix it". I said ok then how do I get an apple eng then? He laughed & said you can't!!!! To which I was furious I came home & called apple requesting to speak w/the fraud dept to file a report they said we don't have a fraud dept!! So after a 45 mn phone call again I left w/no answers.

I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SPEND HIRING AN ATTORNEY & Although I appreciate your suggestion I fail to how an attorney would be able to facilitate in any way since there's no suspect. I cannot prove that it's him doing it so I certainly can't pursue legal action w/no proof & no money. :'((

I was looking more for a TECHNICAL way to avoid this happening w/a new phone should I buy one or trying to get them out of my phone now! Such as installing some kind of software protection?? Someway to clear out the entire phone (other than factory reset which was done 10 x's w/no success, etc. if this person got in then there HAS TO BE A WAY OF GETTING HIM OUT, right???? -

Don't worry about that. iPhone stuck in recovery mode always happens when you update the iOS on your iPhone. There are two ways to solve it.
First is is to put your iPhone in DFU mode.
Step 1. Turn off iPhone
Step 2. Hold down the Power and Home button.
Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the Home button down.
Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that it’s in restore mode.
If DFU mode can't solve the problem, I'm afraid the only solution is to try some 3rd party software, like iPhone data recovery or something like that. You may simply try the tutorial here: How to Fix iPhone that is Stuck in Recovery Mode. -

Can't Synq iPhone 3GS Calendars after installing iOS6, any suggestions?
I'm all mac-based and followed the instructions for the upgrade to iOS6 software for iPhone but now my calendars won't synq. When I connect to iTunes and run the synq process, it gets stuck on the Calendar step and will not finish the synq process. I have to either wait for it to quit or force it to quit. Additionally, when I try to log a new event or meeting onto the Calendar on the iPhone, it will lock up and quit the app. I then have to shut down the iPhone to get it to open again but it just locks up again when I try to log a new event. Any suggestions? I'm tempted to do a back up and reinstall but don't want to risk any data loss.Hi there,
I am using Rogers, which does support tethering.
The iPhone does not show up in the list of devices in the Bluetooth preference panel. It fails at the Pairing step of the Bluetooth setup assistant.

Disable your antivirus and firewall.
If that doesn't fix it either the phone was jailbroken or hacked, or the computer you are using was used to hack or jailbreak some other iDevice. -
