My daughter's ipod touch has been disabled after too many wrong password attempts.
The ipod was never synced to the computer so can't connect to itunes.
How else can we enable the ipod touch again?

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  In your case, choose any computer with iTunes software.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Tried to restore and update iPhone 3GS, has been in the "verifying restore with apple" stage for an hour. what should i doo?

okay, so lately my iPhone 3GS has been telling me i have no service what so ever for the past two days. But today when i was on the bus going home from school, i had perfect service and everything until i got close to my house (to clarify, i live somewhat far out from the center of town, and my school is right in the middle of town.. didnt know if that would affect anything). So then i asked my Dad about it and he reccomended restoring and updating my phone to see if it helped because im a couple updates behind. So i plugged it in, backed it up, and began to restore and update it. All was well until it got to the "verifying the restore with apple" stage. I was watching the rose bowl and not paying attention while it was on, but remembered that it started that stage at the beginning of the game. Now the game just ended 5 or 10 minutes ago and lasted a goood hour, hour an a half, and its still verifying!! i dont know what to do... HELP!

Did you check the security software settings? iTunes has to be able to contact Apple during the update process: iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11.1.5) Installed on your computer
    iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download
Then... Restore as New (not backup) and Re-Sync your Content.

How is your iPhone's display different?
    You can check the model number by  going to Settings/General/About. These are the model numbers for the various 3 GS models;
    MB715LL/A (16 GB Black), MB716LL/A (16 GB White), MB717LL/A (32 GB Black), MB718LL/A (32 GB White), MC555LL/A (8GB)

You can't get it reset; if you could there would be no point in having it. If you have an encrypted backup there are two ways this could have happened:
You checked "Encrypt Backup" in iTunes at some time in the past, either intentionally or by accident
You have a corporate MS Exchange account and your Exchange administrator installed a security profile on your phone that requires the phone'a contents to be encrypted. This, in turn, requires the backup to be encrypted for obvious reasons.
In either case you were prompted for a password the first time you backed up after whichever of these happened. So think about what you might have entered for a password at that time. Fortunately you get an unlimited number of tries. Other threads on this subject have shown that it is always a password known to the user, so it wasn't something made up by iTunes. Also, everyone who has figured it out has found it to be a different password type, so try your Apple ID password, your computer's login password, your WiFi password, your corporate domain password, etc. And try passwords that may have been changed since your first backup. As a last resort there is a professional password cracker available, but it isn't cheap - it's targeted at the law enforcement market - from Elcomsoft. There are also some scam password crackers available that don't actually work and possibly steal your information. It's likely that a developer of one or more of these will post a response with a link (possibly hidden) to their "product". So before clicking any links you might want to install the Web of Trust plugin that keeps track of scam sites and warns you. http://www.mywot.com.

The laptop I originally synch'd my iphone 4s with is broken and cannot retrieve any files. How can I sync the phone with a new laptop without losing all my downloaded music and apps already installed on my iphone?

If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

i upgraded my 3gs phone from iOS 4 to iOS6. How to set up the phone now?

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

  • Lately my iPhone 3gs has been freezing up.

Everything looks normal until trying to use slider bar to open. There is no response. Also, no response when I push sleep button and try that slider bar to turn off. Second time in a week. Does this mean something broken? The iPhone was 100% charged,  and still plugged in. It had not been used for about eight hours or so.   I did notice that the SIM was locked.
Since this is a new and somewhat sudden change, I wonder if the iPhone has some other problem.  Getting too old?  Rarely had any other problems with the iPhone itself, only with the cables to charge it that seem to break or never work in the first place.
I did use instructions given on this forum to start the phone again. The first time I had to plug it into my MacBook and reset everything.  This last time I was able to start it by holding down the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appeared and then released buttons and waited. Eventually, my home screen came up and I could start the iPhone normally.  I did have to unlock the SIM
    Appreciate your answers.  Thanks

If you hacked your phone, this is what happens.  FYI, no assistance for phones with unauthorized modifications can be given in this forum
Sorry,  in this phrasing "unlock"  as used on the iPhone = unlock SIM.  It is built in for security.  I did not hacked the phone and still need assistance.
    My question isn't answered.

since update ios 7 my iphone 4 has been giving me trouble. sometimes will not respond to touch, is very slow when texting, and battery runs down very quickly when not in use and all apps are closed, has anyone had the same problem

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
