My iPhone 3GS has now died on me three times within a fairly short time. I have seen how to restart it here in the community, but that cannot be a permanent solution. Is it a battery problem, I wonder.

Most likely is battery problem. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.

Hi everyone.. My daughter has an iphone 3gs. About 2 weeks ago it suddenly died! I put it on charge all night and nothing! I held the home button and power button together for 10 seconds, 30 seconds etc etc i tried dfu mode, it didnt work at all. When plugged into itunes, itunes does not pick up the device at all. Then after 2 days it suddenly came on!! I instantly backed it up and restored it from new, hoping that if it were a software issueu, this would have solved it.. Anyway.. it was working fine, untill just now! The same has happened again! I live so far away from an Apple store and i have 3 young children so would find it almost impossible to find time to get to one. Can anybody assist me further, as travelling to an Apple store really needs to be my last resort. I can see this happens to lots of people, but no one ever comments on the solution after visiting an Apple Store and was hoping someone could help. Many thanks for your time
Bethan xCall Apple support...if you cannot go to a near Apple store they will offer other service options like normal delivery or express delivery if this is really a hardware issue or battery issue... try to restore as new without the data (apps / music / video) it might be the data causing the iphone not to work...

Have iphone 3gs has now got a blank white screen
done the various hard reboots ect done the restore in itunes still white screen all connections in phone are ok so whats the proplem thinking of upgrading but this seems a common fault so not happy especially after just forking out for a macbook
David. Thank you very much. The problem was not with the canvas but rather the Viewer. But the solution was the same. Somehow, the Viewer window was re-set to Alpha. I changed it back to RGB.... and the picture is back. These issues are often very simple.... but they can drive you bats if you don't know the answer. Very grateful. Tim

I was listening to music on the iPod app when the phone just died. It had around 80% of battery as well so it's not that. I've tried resetting (holding down home and on/off button) but no luck. Any suggestions?
The iOs 5.1 is a huge file that needs to be dowloaded when updating/restoring, your phone hasnt completed the update so its now in recovery mode. Look on the left of itunes, it should say downloads under the store section with a spinning wheel, click that and youll see the update file with a time remaining, wait for that download to finish then try the restore again and it should work

My iPhone 3Gs has frozen and I can't do anything except turn it off by hard boot. When I plug it in, I have the apple icon and that is all. It was at 43 percent battery life when it happened and my Twitter app was giving me problems. Thoughts?

I have just rceived an upgrade to an iPhone 3GS. Now, when I visit the Store all the prices are in US dollars, not a big problem but I cannot edit my card details or contact to a UK address. I cannot see how to change this.

I tried to restore the feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/imananddinasbroadcast but feedburner refused.
I know that I missed things up but I still have hope in working things out.

My Iphone 3GS has a reactivation problem after the updates. The Itune continues to read an error message like this,``There is no sim card in the Iphone you are trying to reactivate```The phone read no service. I am using Orange Sim card which has a subscribtion with Apples in my area. Please help

Over the past couple of months, my iPhone 3GS has had dead spots on the left side of the screen, preventing me from using the r, d and x keys, the number 4 and the semi colon and comma keys. Does anybody have any ideas on why this has happened or any ideas that I'll be able to fix this problem?
Just a note; I can't put my phone to sleep or turn off as my lock button isn't working, so I'm using the AssistiveTouch settings.

This has no impact on the ability to purchase a new iPhone... it simply means that the newer one will not be at a fully subsidized price.
You could always take it to Apple and do an Out of Warranty exchange (I'm assuming the device is out of warranty) for $149 US. -

Place your iPhone in manual recovery mode or DFU mode.

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again?

my iphone 3gs has broken [was in a sort of reboot loop] so that is being fixed and i get it back on Thursday. I may loose all data from it being fixed and that would of been fine as i have a recent back up on my i-tunes.
