My Iphone 3gs has recently stopped holding charge

My iphone has recently stop holding charge, it can be completely charged and will died in a hour to 2. It also has been shutting on and off, on me. It freezes contastly and will take as high as 5 minutes to get into a app. I was hoping someone would know or will have some information on it. Thanks !!

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Check Settings > Messages > Send and Receive to make sure you phone number is selected.

Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • My iPhone 4 has recently stopped charging

I hardly ever sync my phone with my iTunes account, but I did on Tuesday and since then I have had problems charging it.  First it starting saying that my car charger was not supported by iPhone, so I charged it on my laptop using the sync cable.  Then last night the battery ran completely dead, and now it won't charge with the sync cable either.  When first plugged it it brings up the empty battery icon, with the plug, arrow and charge symbols underneath, so it's not actually charging at all.  Been on the phone to apple support and they got me to try the hard reset which didn't work, and told me basically it's knackered and I will have to pay £120 for a refurbished one.  I just find it same that it worked fine until I synced it with iTunes the other day.  Has anyone got any advice? Thanks.

Syncing would have no affect on the ability for the battery to charge. What you describe with the car charger makes me wonder if there is something caught in the connector area of the phone. Try blowing that out with some compressed air. You can also take a soft toothbrush and brush the connector area slightly. Try another cable with the device and try connecting it individually to both the wall charger and then the USB on the computer and see if it will charge with either one.

  • My iPhone 3gs has completely stopped turning on.

I actually have a couple questions:
1: My iPhone has stopped turning on. I have tried dfu mode, but nothing shows up. literally nothing I try makes it  turn on. And I mean, it fully does'nt turn on. No backlight at all, and iTunes doesn't recognize it.. Any solutions? I'm quite sure that I'm past my apple 1 year warranty so.. what do I do?
2: I bought my iPhone from my friend a few months ago. If I am forced to go into the appstore, will they even let me pay for it being fixed? I can just imagine walking in there and them saying "Well sir, this iPhone doesn't appear to belong to you in our records." Also, if they did let me pay them to repair it, does someone know how much $$ it would cost?
BTW: I'm not dissing apple in any way, actually, their how I get my paycheck everymonth (I make apps).
    Thanks in advance, Will Allstead

Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your first query. If you take the phone into an Apple Store and it's not catastrophically damaged or has non OEM parts in it, they will repair or replace it for a cost.
The replacement cost for an out of warranty phone is $199 + tax.

  • My iPhone 3gs has suddenly stopped showing my new emails

This just started the last couple of days.  It says it is checking for mail, but doesn't have the moving circle in the top left corner and nothing new ever shows up.  Any idea what's going on?  All my other apps seem to be working fine and updating.

    Thanks Lawrence
I omitted to say that it only occurs when the screen is locked - if I'm looking at something on my phone when an sms or email arrives, the phone 'notifies' me with a sound but doesnt do it when its screen is locked. Email messages and sms's (texts) still arrive but I get no sound to tell me they have.
The MUTE swith is in the correct place and I have tried resetting the phone with the Home and Sleep buttons several times, still to no avail.
I have noticed on the forums that many people are suffering or have suffered the same problem but Apple are never forthcoming, of course,

  • HT1695 My Iphone5 has recently stopped working on wi-fi at home and bluetooth in the car.  I am able to connect several other devices to my wi-fi at home and my Iphone will connect to other wi-fi alternatively to my home.

    Hi
My Iphone 5 has recently stopped working on my home wi-fi and my car bluetooth.  The phone will connect to other wi-fi devices but nothing on the bluetooth at all.  Other devices are able to connect to the home wi-fi.
I have reset network settings and reset all settings. Still it wont connect to the home wi-fi or my car.
I have since taken my car in for it to be checked by the garage and am having the same problems in my courtesy car.
Short of throwing the phone out of the window any suggestions how I can fix it?
I'm thinking it'll have to be a factory restore

There are two places where vibrations can be set.
One is the Settings > Sounds
The other area is Settings > Notifications
If you have an app set to Alert, it may have a vibration set for it.

  • HT4061 My iPhone 5 has suddenly stopped charging even though I have used different cables and adaptors. The cables adaptors charge another phone so nothing wrong at that end

My iPhone 5 has suddenly stopped charging. Have used three different cables and adaptors to no avail. The cables charge other phones so something wrong with the phone only. Need advice on possible solutions?

    Always try
    a reset then
a restore first with back up then as new ,as required
If still no improvement visit Apple Store genius bar
BUT first check there is no debris in charging socket

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost or Stolen

  • My screen on my Iphone 3gs has lost it's light, Like, I have to hold it in some type of light to see it, what is wrong here?

My screen on my Iphone 3gs has lost it's light, Like, I have to hold it in some type of light to see it, what is wrong here?

This is called "no backlight problem". Try a Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart, usually takes 10 seconds of holding both buttons.
This problem is usually due to Liquid Damage to iPhone, either Logic Board component or LCD Display.
If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage, hope it is not Liquid Damage and make Genius Reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

  • Iphone 3gs keeps rebooting often when charging on Kensington Dock n Belkin

I recently bought a Kensington Dock and a Belkin FM transmitter *** car charger for my Iphone 3gs (OS 4). When charging on the dock the phone keeps rebooting often. It doesnt happen if I'm just charging the phone using the regular charger OR when USB connected to the computer. Can someone advise why this happens when charging the Iphone using a Kensington dock OR belkin FM transmiter *** car charger. Both accessories are suppposed to be compatible with Iphone 3gs.

Hate to say, but if your phone has been rebooted, restored or recovered.  It sounds like a hardware issue.  Send it to the refuribish line with the rest of them.   Now i know you said you restored it.  but there are a couple other ways of doing it that might help.
    1. Reboot methods. The first thing to do is try to reboot the iPhone, which you can do by holding the top button and the home button for about ten seconds. In some cases, the iPhone is actually still on, but a bug stops the screen from displaying anything, so you can reverse the problem by doing the reboot. If you still see nothing on the screen, try to plug the iPhone in and again try the reboot methods to see if you can get the screen to display.
    2. Restoring the iPhone. If the iPhone shows up in iTunes, but it still doesn't seem to turn on, it's definitely a display problem. When rebooting fails, you can restore the iPhone from iTunes, and this should fix whatever bugs caused the original issue. Realize that you'll have to reload your music if you restore to another software version. To restore, plug the iPhone in, go into iTunes and click the iPhone's icon on the side of the select screen. Click on the restore button and agree to the prompt asking if you really want to restore the iPhone's software.
    3. Recovery mode. You can put the iPhone into recovery mode if it has a charged battery by holding down the home button before connecting it to iTunes, then continuing to hold the button until iTunes recognizes that the iPhone's in recovery mode. Recovery mode is a bare-bones way of booting the iPhone that allows you to perform a restore when you're dealing with a serious issue such as the iPhone failing to turn on or display anything on its screen.
try one of these if you havent already.  if still nothing, its time to take it in or get a new phone.

  • TA44551 My 1-year ipod nano locked up and would not start overnight. The on/off button will not work and stopped holding charge. No water damage, no fall, nothing unusual. I restored it (twice) but it will still not hold charge and on/off does not work.

My 1-year ipod nano locked up and would not start overnight. The on/off button will not work and stopped holding charge. No water damage, no fall, nothing unusual. I restored it (twice) but it will still not hold charge and on/off does not work. I tried to restore it again and charged it in three different locations with different cables. etc but nothing. Suggestions?

    - After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod?  If yes, restore the iPod from backup.
    - If no, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

  • Iphoto has recently stopped working; it continually shows the loading circle. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it, updated it

Iphoto has recently stopped working; it continually shows the loading circle. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it,updated it and reinstalled all my apps with the ‘applications install DVD’ however it still does not work. I have also tried holding the command and option key while pressing iphoto then when the pop up appears i press the checkboxes that have been suggested by other users however nothing happens. Any other suggestions would be great!

Ok the program itself is likely fine, it's the files it depends on that are not.
    Step #1
1: Open your Users/Library/Preferences folder (if on Lion you need to use the Go in Finder)
2: Scroll down until you see a file called
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist
3: Trash it and reboot, start iPhoto and see if it works.
    Step #2
1: Go to your Users/Pictures/iPhoto Library and right (or hold option) click on it and "show package contents"
2: Inside will be a folder with your originals, copy them out.
3: Move and rename the iPhotoLibrary file outside of the Pictures folder.
4: Reboot and restart iPhoto, check inside the Pictures folder if iPhotoLibrary was created.
5: Download ClamXav and run a scan on the Original photo's and your whole machine too while your at it.
(it's if there is a picture in there from Windows it could contain a corruption caused by malware)
6: Reimport the originals back into iPhoto.
See if those two steps resolve your issue, if not I could suspect next a network issue? Like iPhoto is trying to contact the internet and can't or gets hung?
You can can create another user, use the Shared Drop box to transfer files and log into the other user and see if it's a issue with just your User account, and if so you might just want to transisition over and then one day delete the old user and it's problems.

  • IPhone 3Gs has a color temperature display is warmer, or yellow-tinted

    All greetings!
My new iPhone 3Gs has a color temperature display is much warmer, or yellow-tinted compared to the my iPhone 3G.
It is a defect of my iPhone 3Gs?
Here you can see it: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2415/2660565874_ef8a841a20.jpg

I recently bought a 3Gs and compared to my old 3G there's a hug difference! my 3Gs looks really yellow! I went to Apple store at the florida mall to verify if this was normal, brought my old 3G with me so they could notice the difference,so I made the appointment and when the so called "apple genius" saw my phone he noticed the difference and took my phone to change it to the back of the store, he came back in 3 minutes claiming that he changed my phone, when I looked at it,same yellow display I said to the guy that the display looks the same but he never gave me any other option, on my way out from the store i checked the info on the phone but it was the same IMEI as the one in the box, how could this be? if they supposedly change the phone, I asked to speak to a manager and explained to her my situation, the "genius" that "helped me" told the manager that what he did was only changing the display and since I didn't like it,he went back and put back again the display that came with the phone... at this point I got really upset and I asked the manager to speak to the "genius" and asked why he lied about the situation, the manager said that she would bring the guy so we could settle this situation, they left me waiting on the store 45 minutes and none of them showed up... Great Apple store service... Yeah right!! F#$%^ them!
