My iPhone 3Gs has started crashing when using apps once the battery gets down to around 80%. Sometimes it will reboot on its own, and other times you have to leave it for an hour or so and then manually turn the phone on again. Any ideas?

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again?
If this does not work, try to save as much data as you can and set it up "as new device": How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • Calendar has started crashing when switching to month view?

    I have an iPad with iOS 7.1.1. This morning the calender started crashing every time I went to the month view. It is fine in day view. Stranly, Planner Plus app is doing the same thing? It seems something that both apps use is causing it to crash.  Has anyone seen this or have advice.
    I am an Apple newbie. I have had my iPad for six months and my iPhone for two. I am still finding my way around the system.

    James, I am not sure what you mean by signing in and out of those accounts? The Calendar cannot be deleted and reinstalled. I haven't tried to delete the Planner Plus one yet. I have a lot of notes in it that I really don't want to lose.
    I have talked with Apple and after trying a reset, they want me to wipe the pad clean. This will be the second time in the six months that I have had the iPad. I find it more than a bit frustrating when, I can't even just back up the data to my computer and reinstall it. I have done a backup in iTunes but, as I understand it, iTunes did not back up the 20 gbs of data, music, photos, and pdfs which are installed on the iPad through 3rd party apps like Bongiovi, Good Reader, and Docs to Go. 
    At the moment, I am sorry I bought into Apple's BS.  At least when Windows crashed, I had a full backup I could install. I don't recall these issues with my Android pad either. My experience with Apple so far has been mostly a PITA.

  • After Effects has started crashing when I scrub through timeline.

    I've been working on an animation for several weeks and now, starting yesterday, whenever I scrub through the timeline the program crashes on me and gives several error messages. It seems to have started after I added a large image layer with motion blur enabled that moves pretty quick. But even if I turn off motion blur for the whole comp the issue still occurs.
    Error messages are as follows:
    After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking format plug-in “PNG”.
    After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking rendering plug-in “AE_OpenGL”.
    After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <6356> <ASL.ResourceUtils.GetLanguageIDFromRegistry> <0> Unable to obtain the User 'Language' registry key at: Software\Adobe\After Effects\10.5\ Defaulting to 'en_US'.

    Before quitting, you have one chance to save your project (don’t use the same name as the original).
    I am using After Effects version 10.5.0.253.
    I have tried several troubleshooting steps such as updating my display drivers, disabling OpenGL in Preferences > Previews, Moving the Extensions folder out of my install, Recreating my preferences, Purging the cache, and even just uninstalling and reinstalling After Effects all to no avail.
    Additional Details:
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-Bit
    CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.40Ghz
    RAM: 8.00 GB
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 with Driver ver. 320.49
    Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated. I'm usually good at being able to research and resolve my own issues by this one has me stumped and my boss is on my case about the deadline.

    While I did have OpenGL disabled in Preferences > Previews its seems I still had Fast Previews set to Adaptive Resolution - OpenGL off. I've switched this to just Off and now seem to be back on track. I believe I didn't have an understanding of what all "turn off OpenGL" truly meant. I'll continue working and report back wether or not I have any more issues related to this.
    What would have causes this issue to appear in the first place? I've been working in AE 5.5 for about 2 years now doing a multitude of different projects but this is the first time I've run up against this issue. Is my hardware just simply underpowered?

  • IPad randomly crashing when using apps.

    Hello everyone,
    I have had a 3G 64Go iPad for almost two months by now, and it has never had any physical damage.
    The problem I am experiencing is that it keeps crashing randomly when I use apps, especially with "big" apps that require more from the system (it will not crash if I use iBooks or if I watch a film, but there are plenty of games that I cannot launch because they are in 3D).
    I restored the whole firmware, but it does not change anything.
    (The iPad even crashes very often when I sync it with the MacBook)
    I am beginning to wonder if there is not an internal hardware problem, because I really have no idea about where the problem comes from, and it is beginning to be a bit annoying to have an iPad that you can almost only use to check your mail or listen to music !
    I would like to know if anybody has had the same kind of issue and found a solution, and what I should do about this.

    I am going to restore the iPad according to your instructions, but I do not think that this is caused by an app in particular.
    I forgot to mention it in the first post, but this has happened from the day I got it; I synced it to my laptop, and since I was in an area with no wifi around by the time, I only put one app onto my iPad, it was the iPhone version of a game, that has crashed several times, just the way it does now with other apps.
    I was surprised but did not really worry back then. The app is no longer on the iPad (it's been on the iPad for a few days only) and even if it had been the one causing all the crashes, it has been removed and the device has been restored since, so I don't get how it could have kept the problem...
    I also forgot to say that, when my iPad crashes, there is a kind of "white stripe" across the screen for a fraction of second, then it reboots (and often crashes again as soon as it has finished rebooting); I even had a really weird screen once, which made me worry, with white lines of program written across the reboot screen (the black one with the apple logo in the middle), and I remember the last line said "Panic: we are hanging here..." !
    (I took a picture of the screen, if it helps...)
    I don't think I forgot anything more.
    I am going to try to restore it the way you told me anyway, and see if it helps, but I do not have much hope !

  • Problem transferring old iPhone 3GS to new phone 5S using computer.  The iMac which I've been using to back up 3GS for years does not seem to recognize the 5S.  No setup assist is coming on screen so I can't begin the transfer.  Any ideas for this?

    It depends on the design of the app. I use the CNN app a great deal and that provides content through CNN. While it has to connect to the Internet to get the data, it is displaying it in their app. It isn't really connecting to the website, it is connecting to the CNN servers and displaying information in the app. Does that help explain it some?

  • HT1430 I can't get my iPhone 4 to turn on.  I have recharged the battery, held down on power on button, and absolutely nothing happens.

    My iPhone went totally dead for no apparent reason.  Any suggestions to trying to turn it back on?  The battery i(was) charged.  Nothing happens when I plug into the charger, nor whn I depress the on/off button on the top of the phone.  It does no appear on my comuter screen when connected to iTunes.

    Connect to Wall Charger again and Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to start. This can sometimes take about 20 seconds of holding both buttons.

All was well until sometime this afternoon when it changed...  to Nov 5 (2 days prior to today), and about 9 hours and some minutes before the actual time.  The world clock for my time zone shows the same wrong date and time. My calender shows the same wrong date and time.  The phone can not find my time zone any more.   The only fix I found was to turn off the automatic setting for time.  What is  happening? Ideas?

    My wife has a 3GS she bought in July of this year. A few weeks ago, she noticed that she could not use it to make or receive any phone calls because there was no sound, so she could not hear the person on the other end of the call. If she uses the speaker phone option it works, but this means everyone close by can hear it too. We called the APPLE 1-800 line and were told to try resetting the iPhone through iTunes (back to factory settings) but it still will not work. The lady from APPLE made it sound as if it might cost us money to have it fixed, which makes no sense to me. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
