What am I doing wrong that my iPhone 3GS in DFU mode won't show up in iTunes? If it will not show up in DFU mode in ITunes, then I am unable to jailbreak it with redsnow because it can not see it. ITunes sees my phone when I am not in DFU mode but as soon as I go into DFU, it disappears and then the sound on the computer sounds like it is going to see it again but it never shows up in ITunes. I am running Itunes 10.6 and Iphone 3GS 5.1.

Recently updated the the apple tv remote app for my iPhone4. Now can no longer turn on the apple tv "box" on/off using iPhone app as I used to do before the update. Only thing that shows on iPhone screen is music library. Home Sharing is on. Any help appreciated. Sorry if this is not exactly the right place to post this!
One clue: I have found a reliable way to solve the problem when it happens.
In my network, I have the main Airport Extreme (Gen 1) which is connected to my router, which distributes IP addresses to my internal subnet. The other two AEs (one Gen 4, one Gen 5) are set to extend the network.
When I get this problem with an AppleTV 2 that can "see" my library, but when I try to open it, it says it couldn't find the library, it seems to have to do with a change in which Airport Extreme it's talking to.
If I restart the main Airport Extreme from the Airport Utility, effectively restarting the entire wireless network, then when the network resumes, every AppleTV 2 is happy again.
Unfortuntely, the problem does seem to recur - but I'm wondering if it's because temporary interference leads an AppleTV 2 to try to connect to a different AE, and somehow that's mucking with the Home Sharing. Remember, internet access (Trailers, Store, Netflix) have no issues. Purely Home Sharing.

about 6 months ago i was trying to unlock my phone. my passcode for everything has always been the same 4 digits. i unlocked the phone twice in the space of 10 minutes to reply to text messages by the time id checked my phone again my passcode no longer worked. frustrated i tried the passcode over again unfortunately my younger sister got a hold of my phone and further locked me out. i purchased another phone and now have come across the old phone, i need to get the pictures off the disabled iphone3gs of mine. these photos are a must! i dont want anything else off the phone just the photos. unsure of what to do now as restoring the phone hasnt worked either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have an iTunes backup that includes the photos you may be able to extract them from the backup using a 3rd party utility such as http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/

Ipod wont show up in itunes after installing update
okay so i hadn't updated my ipod in a couple of months (bad i know but we have really slow internet here and it takes forever to download things) then i downloaded the update a couple of days ago and it started installing then came up with an error saying it failed.
It was late at night so i just switched off my laptop and went to bed, and the next morning i tried to turn on my ipod and it was stuck on the connect to itunes screen. When I plug it in it comes up with a box saying "Windows needs to install device driver software for your Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)" I clicked the locate and install device driver software, but it can't find anything.
It wont come up in itunes and i've tried the restoring thing, but it's not working...maybe i'm doing it wrong? idk help anyone?I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! Downloaded 9 point whatever it was, and then it said i needed to update my iPod, so i lugged it in, all was hunky dory and then it said i had to restore my iPod and so i tried that and now it wont restore it, keeps coming up wit some whacky error and the iPod is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and its driving me insaaaaaaane!!!!

How to solve the device do not show at the itune after the update thru itune.
Now the ipad mini keep show the screen on "USB syr to itune"Try and turn off iPad and proceed to step 3 of Recovery Mode.
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -

As I said above, some of the new lightning cables have been known to be causing problems for some users. Have it replaced if at all possible by bringing it into your local Apple Store's Genius Bar.

I have the same iPhone, and also sync with iTunes on my Mac Book Pro computer. After just a few months after purchasing my NEW iPhone 3GS, the charger stopped working and would not show up on the computer. After trouble shooting my equipment, I discovered that the USB CORD was no longer working, NOT the AC Jack Component. My phone was still under warranty for 1year with Apple Care and extended purchased insurance with VerizonWireless. I contacted VerizonWireless as per my contract agreement, and was transferred to Apple Care Support. Apple Care informed me: A new [Apple Manufactured Original Equipment parts] would be replaced free of charge, BUT, I would first need to secure the return of the defective equipment with a deposit of the purchase price on my credit card. After the receipt of my returned defective equipment, my credit card would be credited back for the full deposit amount. This was NOT acceptable to me. I called Verizon and they mailed me a new [VerizonWireless Manufactured part] USB Cord. After a time, I had to replace that USB cord also. Apparently the USB Cord burns out after a time of use. SOLUTION; I keep about 4 new USB Cords in stock at home!! You may also need to check if your iPhone software is up to date, this could effect it's performance also.
