  • My iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery mode. i have tried to restore using itunes but it ends with a message saying there was an error and couldnt be restored

hi  desperately need help. my iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery mode... when i try and do the restore via itunes it goes through the motions but when it gets to the end it tells me there was an error and it couldnt be restored...  originally it was an ex contract phone that i had opened to orange from vodafone.. it was fine until i tried to do the ios 6 update

There is a way to get it recovered from the so called DFU mode. Try to restart the phone while holding the home and power button at the same time. Then try to connect it to iTunes and do the same again. If you try that again till it works you should be able to use your iPhone as before.

  • My iphone 3gs is stuck at recovery mode while updating software 4.3.3

my iphone 3gs is stuck at recovery mode while updating software 4.3.3 and even itunes is not responding . and i m using newest software of itunes on mac. please help.

If you followed all of the steps within that article then it's almost always a hardware issue. Reason being is that if you attempted restoring the iPhone from another computer (as the article informs you to), and you are still stuck in recovery mode, it proves that it is not a problem with the iTunes installation on your computer.

  • My iPhone 3Gs is stuck in Recovery Mode. My phone has never been jailbroken. What can I do to get it out of the Recovery Mode loop?

My iPhone 3Gs went into Recovery Mode yesterday when I got home. When I plug it into my computer iTunes opens and gives me this message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." I click the "Restore iPhone" button and wait while iTunes reinstalls the software on the iPhone. As soon as the install is done, I get the same message again "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." I'm stuck in a Recovery Mode loop. How do I get out?
This iPhone has never been jailbroken. After a litte research on line I saw some people got stuck in Recovery Mode after a jailbreak, but this is not the case here. Please help.

  • Iphone 3GS is stuck in recovery mode? Please help!

Hi, I have an iPhone 3GS and my phone is currently stuck in recovery mode after trying to update iOS 4.1 to iOS 5.01.
When i connect my phone to itunes, i click on "Restore" and iTunes then tells me it will restore to the latest version (5.01). After this version has downloaded it processes the file but then does nothing and does not attempt to install the file. I have then tried it again (6 or 7) times and exactly the same thing happens each time.
I have tried to uninstall itunes and reinstall itunes and tried again and the same thing happened. For some reason itunes will not install or even commence the installment of version 5.01.
    Please help???

  • Iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery mode

I have an unlocked iphone, and I accidentally downloaded the 4.3.1 software update. Now, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and won't update in further.
    I need help.
I have tried different computers and downloaded itunes over again but to no avail.

I've now got this problem as well Comes up with an error 1015, says I need to restore my iPhone but then it won't restore it saying it is in recovery mode I hope I've not killed it!! It was also unlocked the otherday and like you I'm so used to hitting the download newest version of iTunes and then it does this If I can't fix it my husband's gonna kill me. iPhone's aren't cheap!

  • IPhone 3GS is stuck in recovery mode after update

I just synced my iPhone to my computer and installed the newest iPhone update using iTunes. After the sync/update was finished (all but my photos because for some reason iTunes has never backed up my photos from my phone) I was prompted to restart my computer only there was an error when my computer was booting back up. Now my phone has the "connect to iTunes" screen and when I connect it says that it is in recovery mode. In order to recover it says that I will lose all my media files. Is there any way to get my phone working again WITHOUT losing all of my information?
    Thanks

Try holding the button on top of the phone at the same time pressing the home key on the front. Keep both depressed for about 7 seconds.
This should reboot the device and retain any info you have. Hope it works for you, good luck.

  • HT201413 my iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery mode and wont restore keeps coming up unknown error 1015

    any help would be great

1015 error: There are 4 possible causes of this error:
The activation server truly is unavailable. Rare, usually fixed within minutes.
Your antivirus or firewall or router's firewall is blocking access to
    gs.apple.com on ports 80 and 443.
Your iPhone is jailbroken or otherwise hacked.
The computer you connected to during the restore/update was
used to hack/jailbreak some other iOS device, and its
network database was corrupted during the process.

  • My iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change?

my iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change, I decided to change my faulty iphone 5 battery as i was out of warrenty, I managed to chance the battery with no problems (I Think), when i put the phone back together and tried to power on with the power button, nothing happened.!  i connected to itunes and it powered on, displaying the connect to itunes screen (recovery mode) all was going well, the phone was restoring, the image of the phone restoring and loading up was displayed on the screen, when it finished it restarted but to show the connect to itunes screen again, it is stuck in the recovery loop. i tried the steps with holding the power and home button etc, none worked.! now when i try to restore, it extracts software but then, ' the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (3194)' comes up, any ideas out there???? and Happy Christmas to Everyone ,

    Hello Andyoneill9,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but keep getting an errror message 3194. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451
    Resolution
Important: If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, Install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. After that, follow these steps if you need more help.
    Check your "hosts" file
After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server. Use the numbered steps below if you’re on a Mac.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and then press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file. Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file. Then, press Enter when prompted for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
This is the first troublehsooting step to try, so there are additional things to try if needed you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling
