My iPhone 3GS is stuck on " No Service" or " Searching . . . " help!

I tried upgrading my I.OS from 4 to 5, and restored the iPhone, and when I put my sim card, It kept saying no service or searching. is there anyway I can fix that without jailbreaking ? help!

Hi, I have an iPhone 3GS and my phone is currently stuck in recovery mode after trying to update iOS 4.1 to iOS 5.01.
When i connect my phone to itunes, i click on "Restore" and iTunes then tells me it will restore to the latest version (5.01). After this version has downloaded it processes the file but then does nothing and does not attempt to install the file. I have then tried it again (6 or 7) times and exactly the same thing happens each time.
I have tried to uninstall itunes and reinstall itunes and tried again and the same thing happened. For some reason itunes will not install or even commence the installment of version 5.01.
Please help???

Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

So i turned my iPhone off and went to turn it back on but it won't go past the apple logo. I tried turning it off again but it doesn't turn off but 5 or so minutes later it will turn off and then turn back on again but it still stays on the little apple logo. Someone please help!

Apple recommends backing up the data when you're getting the battery replaced by them. So I assume that you will likely lose the data during this process.

There is a way to get it recovered from the so called DFU mode. Try to restart the phone while holding the home and power button at the same time. Then try to connect it to iTunes and do the same again. If you try that again till it works you should be able to use your iPhone as before.

My iPhone 3gs is stuck on a dim black screen that I can't get out of. I tried doing a hard reset and even restoring to factory setting to fix it. When I press the on/off button it switches from a solid black screen to a dim lit black screen. The fuctions seem to be working. The vibration works when I flip the switch on and off. The voice comand comes up when I hold down the home button. It even plays the iPod when I use the voice comand. When the dim lit black screen is up, the touch screen is non responsive. I just need a way to fix this phone. I know their must be a way. Please help!

I just went through this yesterday and because i am no where around my computer i lost everything and now my battery drains very fast...you are going to have to recover your phone i hope you have everything backed up and are next to your computer...if you are push and hold your home button and plug into PC at same time and continue to hold the home button untill you see your USB on your pc screen light up (depending on what type of pc maybe i dont know what you have)
push home button
Plug into pc usb
usb on pc screen lights up..let go of home button
follow instructions for restore/sinc

If you followed all of the steps within that article then it's almost always a hardware issue. Reason being is that if you attempted restoring the iPhone from another computer (as the article informs you to), and you are still stuck in recovery mode, it proves that it is not a problem with the iTunes installation on your computer.

If it is a 3GS you cannot update it to 4.3, you can only update it to iOS 6. Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer, connect the phone, click on its name on the left, then click the "Check for Updates" button on the right.
If you can't connect to your home WiFi try rebooting the router.

With iTunes, no.
If you had "Find My iPhone" enabled in Settings > iCloud then you may be able to locate it. If not, you cannot locate it.
If it was enabled then you can try locating it via http://icloud.com on a computer or the App "Find My iPhone" on another iDevice. Note: this will only work if your device is connected to a network and the device hasn't already been restored as new and/or "Find My iPhone" has not been disabled on it. If you think that your device was stolen rather than lost then you should report it to the police. In either case you should contact your carrier, change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.
