My iphone 3GS screen when hit the water
My iphone 3GS hit the water today and its screen there white in the edges, also still there dew. How do I get my 3GS back to normal? Need some help. Thanks.
Turn the phone off and put it in a plastic bag 1/3 filled with uncooked rice - or better - silica gel packs. Seal the bag a leave alone for at least 3 days. DO NOT HEAT the phone or use a hair dryer.
If you do this there is a tiny, tiny chance that the phone will function "normally", or at least better, However even if it does, it's likely to develop future problems from internal corrosion. Replacement is your only real option.

Why does my iphone 3gs screen go white after it goes "to sleep" for the first time after turning it on?
The screen isn't broken because it works after i turn the device off and back on, but after it goes black once, it's only white again.
But it takes the touches although it's only white, because I can answer my phone when I slide my finger on the bottom of the screen, eventhough there in not the button to see.
This is so weird. I have already done everything I can think of that might help. But I cannot think of anything that might be causing it, because nothing has happened to the device.Let me know if I should start a new discussion instead of opening a new topic here.
My wife's iPhone is the same vintage as mine 3Gs, but has never had the battery problem. Its affliction instead is that it cannot detect WiFi networks unless it is quite close to the source. Often, when my iPhone not only detects but shows a maximum cells connection with a network, hers cannot detect the network at all. In contrast, her iPhone seems to detect ourcellular carrier just as well as mine does.
Is there any help for this affliction? -
When I disconnect my iphone 3gs(iOS) from computer, the device disappears from my itunes. This prevents me from doing a wireless sync. how do i fix it so that my device stays on itunes without having to plug it in all the time?
it worked the first few times i did it but the next day after i closed out of itunes once, the device only appears when i plug in my phone.Whenever a menu choice is grayed out, that is because you have Restrictions turned on in Settings. Be sure to turn it off.
You are confusing an itunes store account with an icloud account. You two can continue using the same ID for itunes (thus sharing purchased music, apps, etc.), but you really should have separate accounts (different IDs) for icloud, since an account is intended for one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
To create a new icloud account, go to

Then go to Settings>icloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete Account. (have restrictions turned off) That will disconnect the device from the account but will not delete data in icloud or other devices. Then sign in using the new ID. -
I'm getting this problem when trying to update my iphone 3gs it says that the iphone software could not be contacted and I went on youtube got some advise to go into my hard drive to fix the error I have nothing in my host file please help me if you can this is all new to me.

I have an iPhone 3GS that I dropped in water for a moment. After drying it and everything, it still does everything but get service. Can I back it up and transfer its data to a new iPhone 3GS? I heard something about how loading a backup from a water damaged phone could mess up the new one... is this true? I would truly appreciate the help, please let me know, thanks!
Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode. In this case, all data on it is gone. There's nothing to back up.

At my Apple Store they still will replace the iPhone 3GS front screen assembly for $99 US. In UK it will be a lower number in £. See if your Apple Store does this. At worst you are looking at a perfect Replacement iPhone 3GS for £ 126.44 at UK Apple Store. Make Genius reservation first to avoid long wait.

Welcome to the Forums.
The flickering issue maybe due to a bad LCD cable or in some cases, a faulty GPU (the GPU is integrated to the CPU, and the CPU is soldered to the motherboard).
If there's still no image on the screen even after connecting an external display then you likely have a bad GPU.
In this case, I recommend you contact support for service (and also to see if there's a consideration that can be done on the warranty repair).

If the screen shows a plug going to itunes, then you have no choice, It's in recovery mode. You'll be given the chance to restore from a backup either from itunes or icloud.
I assume when you got the message to update (was this for the ios or update some apps?), that was before the device when dead. At any rate, doing a restore does not change the ios.
