My iPhone 3gs was locked to virgin but it was unlocked before i bought it and i now use a t-mobile sim card. If I update my phone to ios 5.1 will it lock my phone so I can no longer use it? I'm scared to update!! Please help
I updated my sisters phone yesterday to ios 5.1 but after I did this it wouldn't recognise her sim card and the phone isn't unlocked or jailbroken. My phone is unlocked but not jailbroken and I have done all the updates before without a problem. Does this mean that if I update to ios 5.1 it wont lock my phone and will continue to work as normal?
That depends on where it came from and how it was "unlocked". Virgin is a supported carrier in France and in Canada.
If you are in France, then it could have been legitimately unlocked. Virgin France offers unlocking.
If you are in Canada, then it was definitely hacked to unlock it as they do not offer unlocking there. If it is a Canadian phone, you can't be supported here at all. Discussing hacked and jailbroken phones is forbidden by the terms of service.

Updating it "undid" the jailbreak and left the phone locked to its original carrier. There is no way to resolve this, as there is no jailbreak for iOS 7 and no way to go back to the previous version of iOS.

If it fits, yes. Power the phone off, pop the SIM drawer using the SIM tool found in the box (or a straightened paper clip), put the SIM chip on it and close. The phone will pick it up when you power it back on. For details of what kind of SIM chip can be used and how to place it on the drawer, read the manual (chap. 2).

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step. -
I just updated my Iphone 3GS from 4.3.3 to 6.1. Now is says that my SIM Card is not supported by my carrier. I called Rogers and he says to restore my phone. But I can't get there is it won't recognize my phone. Help!

Where did the phone come from, it sounds like the device has been hacked or jailbroken to be unlocked and updating has re locked to the original carrier. It is also possible that the SIM simply needs to be reseated or replaced. -

Iphone 3gs says a ringtone loaded but cannot find on phone to enable. On ios 5
Created my own ringtones, phone accepts them and i-tunes says installed on phone, can find 9 of the 10 created tones but 1 cannot be found on phone.Created correctly. The only difference is this one is only 10 secs long whereas the others are 30 secs long. So is there a minimum length as well as a maximum?
What version of iOS are you running? I'm going to bet that you do NOT have a 3Gs. You have a 3G. The highest version of iOS that can run is 4.2.1.
If you did not save a copy of the older facebook at that could run on 4.2.1 on your computer that you can sync back, then you're out of luck. The newest version (and the only one available in the app store) will not run on 4.2.1.
You will have to resort to using the mobile web page in Safari or find a 3rd party app that will run on your phone. -
a friend gave to me an iphone 3gs from mexico but im in colombia and i cannot use it cuz the sim card .. Where can i work it ??
Best solution would be to give or sell it to someone in Mexico who can use it. You can do othing with it if it is locked o Mexican cell carrier.

It sounds as though your phone had been hacked to remove the network lock.
When you restored the phone it relocked itself to the original network and it will now only work if a sim from the original network is used. -

I need help fast. I'm on call and this is my only phone.It finally restored. I saw that a couple folks said they kept trying and finally got restored. So I decided to keep trying and retrying while I researched the techno routes folks described--DFU, tinyumbrella, and scary programming processes. I decided I'd rather put my sim chip in one of our old iphones and take mine to a shop than suffer through a bunch of complication. I switched to Apple b/c I got tired of playing programmer. I digress. After a few minutes itunes would drop my phone from dashboard yet continued showing the checking with Apple...status. So I repeatedly force-quit itunes, restarted phone, unplugged and plugged back into computer. Each time I'd do whatever itunes prompted then walk away. After about an hour of this, for no apparent reason, it went directly into recovery. Didn't lose any photos but did have to reinstall most of my apps. It has to be an Apple network issue related to this particular upgrade.

I updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.0.2. my wifi says its connected but doesn't work now. It doesn't matter what wifi network I connect to. It worked before updating my phone. I can no longer use facetime or use wifi at all. I'm not sure what to do to fix it.
I'm having similar issues with my phone. I got my first iPhone recently, only had an iPod touch gen4 for a little over a year. Updated to 6.0.2 when we got the phone (iPhone 5) a few days before Christmas. When I got home on the evening of January 11, my phone would not connect the router anymore. I was able to get it to connect after resetting the phone and the router, updating the router, and manually connecting. That laste for a few minutes and then wouldn't work anymore. I live in an area with very limited service, we have a network extender installed to help, and I am barely getting a 3G signal at times.
My wife's iPad 4, my touchiPod 4, and all of our laptops are working just fine on the router. When I dropped my kid off at school today, I noticed that I am not even seeing the school network anymore from the parking lot where before I got 3 or 4 bars and could connect to their wifi when I was there. Today my phone goes back and forth between seeing my home network but not connecting, to not even seeing the network at all even from the same room that the router is in.

Two years ago I have purchased an Iphone 4 here in Carrefour Supermarket, Dubai UAE. The model number is MC319LL. Unfortunately last November 2011, I attempted to upgrade the OS to 5.0.1 but rightaway, my sim card(Etisalat UAE service provider) was blocked. As a result, I can no longer use the telephone function. I just found out recently that this model number .i.e.MC319LL is to be used for AT&T. My question is, how can I restore my unit to work as a celphone? And why is it that when I upgraded it, it was blocked. Was it illegal to sell this phone in the UAE market?

Kathleen JewelYou purchased a "hacked" iPhone(hacked to unlock it) from a non-official source for iPhones. Unfortunately, that's the risk you take when you purchase from a non-official source. There is no way to get your phone officially unlocked, & all warranty & support has been voided. Sorry, but you don't have any good choices here. Your best bet is to go back to Carrefour Supermarket & get your money back, then purchase an iPhone from an official source. If they won't give you your money back, have them "fix" your phone...they will have to "hack" it again. Good luck.

How, EXACTLY, did you get it "unlocked"? ONLY the carrier it's locked to can authorize unlocking it. Anything else is a hack.

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, try this a few times if necessary. If still problem, you may have to just Restore your iPhone to get it working. In the future sync your iPhone with iTunes routinely and when it contains important data, iCloud when set correctly will do this for you continuously.
