My iphone 3gs was stolen.. i don't know what is the next step??

my iphone was bought in USA. i'm living in colombia and i was using my iphone here when a thief robbed me of all my money and my iphone.now the thief has my iphone. i don't knot what is the company where was bought.. here i have the serial number, imei, ECID(Dec), ECID (Hex).
But i don't know how put the iphone in order to the thief can't use; can you help me ??

i have the last one question.. i don't understand why when i report my iphone they don't put the imei.. for example when you report a nokia, blackberry, or whatever; the thief can't use the cell phone because the company report the imei then the cell phone can't use with other sim card because the imei was reported.
not is the same case for the iphone ???
the only thing that i wish is that the thief can't use my cellphone with other sim card only as ipod touch.. i don't hope that the iphone come back to me.

Thank You roaminggnome, I don't think I turned Find My Phone app on on my phone, but I did turn it on on my laptop. I deleted my contacts list and Hope that Iit somehow deleted my contacts list on my phone. Also, I turned on Find My Phone on my laptop and it says my phone is turned off. So I think that whoever stole my phone took out my Sim Card and replaced it with theirs or that they sold my phone for Crack. I hope my phone hasn't been restored. Ty for your response Roaming. Losing your phone is never fun. Especially, when personal content may be lost. If you installed and set up the Verizon Cloud to auto back up the photos on your device, then photos will be saved to the cloud. Unfortunatley, the Verizon Cloud is not set up on the device on it's own. If there was no application set to backup personal content on the device, I apologize there is not a way to retreive lost photos.

P.S: For the iphone 4S. is there any difference for the one from online shop or the actual store?

iPhones purchased from the online Apple Store in Australia will be unlocked. To the best of my knowledge, unlocked iPhone are not available from the physical Apple Stores at this time, though you can call the Apple Store in Melbourne and inquire.
Note that the warranty on iPhones is not international, so if you purchase an iPhone in Australia and it needs service, you would have to ship the iPhone to someone in Australia to take or send to Apple for service and then ship it back to you.

before?the?format,?i?had?been using?these?softwares?too (no more upper versions) and didnt have any problem. but after the format, when i try to watch my iron maiden dvd with media player classic: the video is normal but the sound screws up when i set EAX to something except of "No Effect"... (from Creative Surround Mixer program, that blue one)
