My iPhone 3GS wifi wont connect if I leave the house with phone and come back
So my iPhone 3GS (which i bought in December 2011) (out of warranty), will not connect to wifi.. My phone already has problems (randomly i lost my network and it always stuck on No Service, which doesnt allow me to make calls or send texts ). I have a backup phone that I use, but I still use the wifi on my phone for playing games, listening to music, etc. (basically using it as an iPod). But recently, I started having problems with the wifi, every time I tried to load a page, the wifi dropped and it did this constantly. After a while it quit dropping, until one day I left the house with my phone and when I came back I saw that I was unable to connect with the wifi. At home the wifi works, but whenever I leave the house with it, the wifi doesn't connect for a while. I stopped leaving my house with the phone so this problem stopped for a while. But today I ran into a new problem, I did not leave the house with the phone, but simply turned the phone off, left it at home, came back after 2 hours, and turned it back on and was unable to get wifi. I reset the network settings a couple times, but still when I try to connect to a network.. I get "Choose a Network... Other.." with no networks at all showing up. I've been waiting 2 hours yet nothing shows up.. Any help?
Basic troubleshooting steps in the following order.
1. Reset. Press and hold both Power and Home Buttons together till Apple Logo appears.
2. Restore to a backup.
3. Backup, Restore in iTunes and setup as new.

I've never had a smartphone. I'm thinking of buying the unlocked iphone 3gs to use when I'm in the UK 2-3 (months a year). I would be using a pay as you go sim with a little data use included. All I need is the ability to call, text, email, blog, and check facebook. Would this phone be a good choice for me. I'm hearing that there are some problems with battery life on the iphone 4. My iphone 3gs will not connect to itunes and it says that I need to do a system restore. It also says that I need to enter my password on the iphone to connect to itunes but I can not do this because the phone is in emergency phone call mode only.
Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.
Unfortunately, the data on your phone is already gone if you're seeing the connect to iTunes logo. -
My iPhone 3GS no longer connects through Bluetooth to my MacBook Air nor my BMW X3. I've made no recent adjustments, it's just stopped functioning. Any ideas? Can this be fixed, or is my iPhone on the way out?
Problem solved!! I finally managed to pair the SE HCB-100 car kit speakerphone with the 3GS. I surfed the SE web site and it mentioned resetting the speakerphone. Tried it on 'one color ID' but it didn't work so I did it on all 'color IDs' and left it on reset mode when it 'accidentally' was picked up by my 3GS while searching!!! Found 'headset' and then recognised it as HCB-100. One happy guy for the holidays!!!

Most likely it's a hardware failure if it's both WiFi and BlueTooth. There are some strange suggestions to try; if these don't work take it to an Apple store for exchange. If it's out of warranty it will cost $199.
Turn off Cellular Data, reboot the phone. try to turn on WiFi.
Put it in a ziplock bag with the air squeezed out, then in a freezer for 15 minutes (yes, this is not a joke).
The opposite: Heat it with a hair dryer for a couple of minutes.
All of these have worked for someone, but not for most. -

Do you have modified software installed on your device?
If not, try to set it up as new device, explained here, without using the latest backup afterwards, in case it is containing corrupt data.
How to back up your data and set up as a new device
If this does not help, you'll have to get it serviced, there might be a hardware problem. -
IPhone 3GS stuck on "connect to itunes" screen
I've just reset my old iPhone 3GS so that I can use it as a PAYG phone for my dad. It cleared everything down ok and set itself up as a new clean iPhone install with the PAYG sim card and worked fine. In iTunes I logged in to an account I set up for him and all was good - it found the phone, recognised it as my old one and gave me the option to set it up as a new one which I did, again all fine.
Then I went to update the iOS to the latest version, but after it tried to to install it there was an error and the iPhone is now stuck on the "connect to itunes" screen. However, neither iTunes nor my PC will recognise the phone for me to restore it or do anything else with it. I've tried the holding down the home button whilst connecting it to USB idea but no luck.
Any tips?Sorry, I can't remember what the error was, I don't remember there being an error number. It was along the lines that iTunes had been unable to update the OS. I only noticed that the iphone had frozen after clicking OK.
The phone is stuck on the "connect to iTunes" screen. Even trying the restore options above, I don't get a red swipe and trying the alternatives still doesn't help. I've rebooted my computer and you can hear the USB recognising it's got a new item plugged in, but iTunes still won't find it. -

in my iphone 4, wifi is connected but internet is not running. when i usd safari and other internet application it alwasys says wifi is not connected. why ? what happen to my iphone?
Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset network connections.
Other basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, and restore. -
I have a US iPhone 3GS made in 2011. Now in the Philippines I had it unlocked. Now Internet is turned off and no technician can turn it on. I can only use Internet when I have WiFi access. Any ideas?
Please define "I had it unlocked".
If it was not unlocked by AT&T, then it was hacked. Hacked and jailbroken phones can not be discussed here per the TOS.
