Just reboot your laptop... While its rebooting try to reboot your phone also by holding the home and power buttonn for 10-15 seconds...When your phone is turned off try to connect it to iTunes and it will recognize your phone in recovery mode.
If you have the .ipsw file for iOS 7.0.6 saved in your desktop then in itunes press shift and click on Restore.
Select the ipsw file and let it restore.
If you dont have it downloaded then simply click on restore.

After my iPhone 4 was upgraded to IOS 7.0.4, some of the apps cannot be used instantly as before. For example, the Whatapps does not alert unless I open the apps manually. Then a message "Connect to itunes for push notifications" appear. Even I tried connect to itunes for sync again, this problem still cannot be resolved. The same problem applies to some other apps like Runkeeper. Don't know why.
Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

I've got an old IPhone 4 (not a 4S) and I want to upgrade to IOS 5 not 6 or 7. Is this possible?
Apple only allows updating to the current version of iOS for the device. For the iPhone4 and later that is currently iOS7.0.4.
There is no reason to not upgrade to the current version. -

You can't downgrade the iOS level.
Try using Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. -

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Then try the Updates one at a time...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

The Touch ID symbol has disappeared off the Lock Screen of my iPhone 5S since upgrading to IOS 7.1. Is any one else experiencing this. Any recommendations for fixes? The finger scan in Settings seems to be working OK for me.

AAfter upgrading to IOS 8.1, the activity icon on the status bar will not stop rotating. It's like the webpage never completely downloads. Any suggestions?

You would think that it must have some effect on the battery, but oddly enough, the update to iOS 8 actually helped my battery life, in spite of all of these hinky little issues that are taking place. In my experience, the activity icon is not affecting the battery in a negative way.
Another issue with IOS 8.1 that you may have seen is the loss of icon pictures on home pages. Again it seems to be Safari related, since app icons found in the App Store are not affected, only web based icons you personally put on home pages. I get what I call a test screen similar to what you used to get on old tv sets on every one of my personal icons.
I know exactly what you mean. I got that as well. On a few of them, when I opened the websites using the generic test screen icons and then closed them, they changed back to the way that they should look. For the ones that did not change, I recreated the home screen shortcuts and deleted the generic looking ones - the test screen icons.
And don't get me started on iBooks.
For the very limited use that I make of the iBooks app, i haven't noticed any problems, but I rarely use the app. I don't read books on the iPad other than a few user guides and if they are pdf guides, they reside in more reliable and feature rich pdf apps on my iOS device.
I wish that I had the fix for the spinning activity icon, but everything that I try, is temporary at best. IMO, this is the buggiest iOS update that I have seen, and I have been using iOS devices since iOS 3 on my first iPad. I realize that there are plenty of people that are not experiencing issues, but I have seen a number of weird things that I wish I could fix. None of my problems are major, but they are annoying. -
I was able to view pictures in my email before I upgraded to iOS 7. I have allow remote pictures turned on in my settings. I loved Apple until this last upgrade. It used to be an intuitively designed product. I hate it now. If they don't make it easier for older users to use again, this will be the last Apple product I every purchase.

I have a regular post for the top 3 or 4 fixes for that 9808 error. Obviously you are going to skip #1, since you've already tried it. Let me know how you get on with the next 2.
The top 3 fixes to itunes error 9808 seem to be
1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced, make sure that SSL 3.0 is checked and TLS 1.0 is checked. Also under Security make sure that the “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)” is unchecked. Then click ok and fire up iTunes.
2) The culprit was Norton. The users are set up as Admin and Standard. I have Parental Controls turned on in both Vista as well as Norton. Admin users had no problems connecting to iTunes. Standard users would get the error. I had to go to Norton’s Personal Firewall and add the program “iTunes Helper.exe” and set the option to “Allowed” (”iTunes.exe should already be in the Allowed category.) in order for the standard users to be able to connect.
3) close iTunes if you have it open right now. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes. Delete or cut the preferences.xml file which contains your iTunes preferences. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes and delete or move the preferences.xml file. For Mac users, there is only one file you must delete or move a to a new location and is located at User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.itunes.plist. Restart iTunes and it will recreate those two (or one) files with the default settings. Feel free to set your preferences back to what they were and then connect to the iTunes store and enjoy!
And #4, see if you can get into the iTS from a different windows admin account on the same PC. -

After searching the discussions and a few third-party sites, I'm losing hope that iTunes Match will work again on my iOS devices. I actually noticed this first on my iPhone 4S, and can confirm it on my iPod Touch. Like many others, after upgrading to iOS 6, I received a message stating that "This Device Is Already Assocated With an Apple ID." All I can assume causing this is that I have different Apple ID and iTunes Store Account email addresses. I have followed Apple's suggested setup for such a scenario.
I have two MacBook Pro laptops and a MacMini that are all running iTunes Match without issue.
My iPhone 4S and iPod Touch that have been upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 shows the following:
23242 Songs (this is correct)
103 Artists (this is VERY wrong)
195 Albums (this is also VERY wrong)
My wife's iPhone 4S is still running iOS 5 and show the correct numbers for everything:
23242 Songs
6619 Artists
13576 Albums
This leads me to believe that the culprit in all of this must be iOS 6, but I'm not sure that a fix exists. I'm getting ready for a trip to Genius Bar, but I have little hope of a fix. I figured I'd see if others have this situation. For the record, both the iPod and my iPhone have had a full reset.ok so the remote app is grouping all my album artists together under one Artist name: "various artists"
