    iPhone 3GS iOS 6.1.3 -  camera doesn't work. Shutter won't open & camera button becomes disabled. Pls advise what to do? I have already tried resetting the phone several times.

    Hello Kunmon,
    The following article provides some useful troubleshooting that can help get your iPhone's camera working correctly.
    Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
    If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
    If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
    Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
    Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
    Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
    Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
    Try to remain steady while focusing:
    Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
    Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
    Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
    Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
    If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
    My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

    Yes part of Apple Store
    You will get a service replacement ,maybe new maybe refurbed to new standard
    but in a "brown box" so no bits and pieces just unit for unit exchange
    They will know of iPhone history from their systems but always
    worth having proof of ownership but not essential (as far as I know )

  • My camera has frozen, the shutter will not open for me to take a photo.

    My camera has frozen, the shutter will not open for me to take a photo.

    try soft reset dude (press and hold power and home button together, NOTE: the only time you let go of those buttons is when you see the apple logo, when you see the apple logo: let go quickly. your iPhone should restart, if NOT, turn it on and do soft reset again)
    then test your camera.

  • Iphone 4, camera is staying black or shutter won't open

    My camera started not working today.  First, the shutter just wouldn't open.  Now, sometimes I can get the shutter to open, but the screen stays black/ blank.  I've tried-
    1) closing the app completely by double-clicking the home button and turning it off, and then reopening it
    2) turning phone on and off
    3) hard turn off on phone, by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the Apple symbol appears
    4) resetting all settings
    5) resetting entire phone while updating to newest firmware, and setting it up as "new phone"
    My phone was jailbroken, and I thought that might have somehow caused the issue.  However, even after nuking it from orbit the camera phone doesn't work.  I'm pretty much at a loss.  I would say, as an additional note-- I feel like the phone has been running hotter than normal the last day or two.  It's always hotter when I've just finished charging it, etc., but now it's often feeling like that even in normal use.  I can't tell if I'm being paranoid, or if it's true.
    What are my options from here?  Is there anything else I can try?  Is there any value in even going to the Genuis Bar?
    The phone is long out of warranty and is out of contract as well.  Does this seem like a hardware issue?  At first, since the shutter wouldn't open on the app, I figured it was some sort of software issue.  Now that I've done all the things I've listed above, and considering that the shutter now (sometimes) opens, and the screen is still black, I thought it might be a hardware issue/loose wire?  The phone is 2.5 years old.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!  It's been quite a bummer.

    I'm sure if you brought it in & explained your situation they'd replace it or try to fix it. You could also call Apple Care & perhaps they would mail you replacement. I personally would call Apple Care & most likely they will suggest you update to latest update but ask first whether that would jeopardize returning it....I don't think it should but I'm a cautious person

  • My camera doesn't work, it says its not connected.

    Hi, i got a macbook air, and its been a while since my camera doesnt work,
    its says its not connected.

    What kind of external camera is this? I am assuming it is a USB camera? Make sure that you aren't using any USB hubs. Also try connecting it to another USB port. Have you installed the drivers from the camera manufacturer yet?
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • HT2729 After import video,s from iphone to HP com puter all the video,s are sideways, how to fix this ?

    After import video,s from iphone 5 to a HP computer (Windows 7 ) all the video,s are sideways ! No problem with ipad4 Newest)
    How to fix this!

    Check to see if the phone has enough free space on it.  Go to Settings->About on you iPhone and see how much free space there is.  It's likely that your phone is out of free space.  You could also try using a free peice of software called Pic Share It, to drag and drop the video directly to your iPhone wirelessly.  Here's a video showing how it works.

  • Iphone 4 Camera doesn't work!! Anybody?

    I got my iphone 4 2 days ago. Everything works fine except every time I open the camera, the phone freeze and restart itself. I call apple, they told me that they can send me a new one, but will hold 599 from my account and charge 199 at.. ***!
    I call AT&T and they send my to Apple.....
    What should I do not? Any idea?

    Take it to an Apple store for exchange. Or use the mail exchange. The hold will be removed as soon as they receive the phone.
    But first you may want to try a Restore with iTunes.

  • HT201412 ON MY iPOD TOUCH 4g, THE SHUTTER WILL NOT OPEN, SO I CAN NOT USE MY CAMERA. HOW DO I RESET IT. i HAVE TRIED TURNING OFF/ON, RESETTING IT AND RESTORING IT, NOTHING HAS WORKED. HELP!!

    On my Ipod Touch 4G, the camers shuter is stuck closed. I have reset it, restored it, turned it off/on, nothing has worked. Operating system is up to date. This has been an issue for a while, but it normally fixes itself.

    Try here:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    Also try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore via iTunes.  For recovery mode see:
    iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • TwoWay binding doesn't work using StringFormat={}{#:#.####}, why and how to fix it?

    <TextBox Text="{Binding doResult,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged,StringFormat={}{#:#.####},Mode=TwoWay}" Grid.Row="8" Grid.Column="1" Visibility="{Binding ODvisbility,Converter={StaticResource BooleanToVisibilityConverter}}" Style="{Binding ODStyle}"/>
    After changing the stringFormat from 0:0.#### to #:#.#### twoWay binding has stop responding.
    I fixed one problem and end up with another!

    It is hard to say without having seen all of your code. The information in your last post says nothing but there seems to be nothing wrong with the StringFormat as the property gets set as expected using the sample code I posted. You can try it for yourself
    if you don't believe.
    Please upload a reproducable sample of your issue to OneDrive and post the link to it here if you want anyone to be able to be able to get a clue on what is going on in your application.
    Edit:
    Now I see, it is the target property doesn't get set correcty. Please describe your issue in a bit more detail in the future :)
    Well, StringFormat and UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged is not a really good combination all the time. You should probably remove the StringFormat and try to handle the formatting logic yourself by for example using a converter. Something like this:
    class DoubleConverter : IValueConverter
    bool addDecimalPoint;
    public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) {
    double d = (double)value;
    string s = d.ToString("#.##", System.Globalization.CultureInfo.InvariantCulture);
    if (addDecimalPoint) {
    s += ".";
    addDecimalPoint = false;
    return s;
    public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) {
    string s = value.ToString();
    if (s.EndsWith(".")) {
    s += "0";
    addDecimalPoint = true;
    double d;
    if (double.TryParse(s, System.Globalization.NumberStyles.AllowDecimalPoint, System.Globalization.CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, out d))
    return d;
    return value;
    <TextBox Text="{Binding doResult,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged,Mode=TwoWay, Converter={StaticResource doubleConverter}}" />
    Please refer to the following page for more information about converters:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.data.ivalueconverter(v=vs.110).aspx
    Using StringFormat and UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged  will probably not work anyway.

  • My iPad camera shutter will not open

    On my iPad i can not get the camera to work, the shutter will not open. There is plenty of memory and when i use photo booth the camera works on that. I have also carried out a software update but still not working.
    Any ideas???
    Many thanks

    Quit the camera app completely and then try it again.
    Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Try the camera app again.
    If that doesn't work ....Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Front camera of my iPhone 4 doesn't work, the virtual cover doesn't open.

    Yesterday I have bought an used iPhone 4, so I don't have any guarantee. But the front camera doesn't work, the virtual cover doesn't open. I have read that it is something like a hardware fault. Now my question is, if Apple has to repair it because of the hardware fault?

    they dont do repairs..is much easier for them to give u new handset..which u have to pay for if is out of warranty.
    dont be affraid is not a full cost of handset.is be about £139.00-£169.00
    i use to work as an technician engineer in a phone shop still have access to warehouse with replacement parts.
    if u live in UK and willing to pay £50 i can repair it for u.i'm still cheaper than apple store

  • Back facing camera doesn't work!

    My back facing camera on my ipad2 doesn't work. The shutter will not open to take pics or video. I have tried rebooting iPad and resetting it and nothing works! I was hoping for an at home fix instead of sending it in cause I'm afraid to lose some photos I put on ipad2 from my computer cause I recently lost my hard drive! I can't back those ones up with i cloud or iTunes ( I don't think so anyways). Thanks, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Dian-
    You should take care of the photos first, before you worry about the camera.  Once you get your computer repaired (or get a new one) you need to get it authorized for your Apple ID, and find a way to back up the iPad without erasing it.
    Search for an Apple Authorized Repair Center near you.  They should be able to advise you on how to save your photos.  (I see that there is Capitol Macintosh in Lansing, MI.)

  • HT201412 I dropped my phone and the camera shutter will not open- any suggestions? Thank you!!

    I dropped my iPhone and the camera app no longer works.  The shutter will not open, however I am able to take front facing punctures when using the Camera360 app.
    Any suggestions would really be appreciated!

    Well if the basics (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) don't work, then you've broken your phone.  Bring your phone and $199 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement.

  • TS2634 Camera shutter will not open

    I've got a 3rd generation IPOD Touch and the shutter will not open on the camera.

    Try This...
    Close All Open Apps... Perform a Reset... Try again...
    Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
    Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
    Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
    Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...
    Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore
