My Iphone 4 died while testing call issues.

My IPhone was having issues with calls,  I could not hear the other side and the otherside could not hear me,  I tested all the items on the screen nothing would work. Then I dumbly answered a call later and my phone died on me.  It just fwumped on me.  I got it back on in like 5 minutes AFTER plugging it into my computer.  I decide to fumble with it later because i was extremely busy that week, so I remembered the issue today and decide to see if I could fix it.  I called my home phone from my phone and still nothing, but before I could do anything else besides test and see if my phone was just stupid the other time or two it died on me.  The screen dissapiated and it looks like some pixels got messed up too.  The were two squares of messed up pixels on wallpaper.  I tried many of the thing one would expect to be said on the community,  restart?  hard restart? I even attempted plugging it in and it just turning on thing and nothing happens.  It's been off for appx. 20-30 minutes, longer depending on when this is read.  Please help me.

Did it get wet or dropped? Have youtried restoring it or restoring as a new device?
Honestly, from your description, it sounds like a hardware failure.

  • IPhone 4 died while trying to update iOS 4.0.1

    Hi,
I am currently in Australia and I just purchased my iPhone 4 from the Apple Store yesterday. I downloaded a number of applications after and I tried to update my iOS tonight via iTunes however, my iPhone just died after it finish updating. I couldn't even restore it anymore. Are you kidding me Apple?
    What should I do now?

I'm in NZ, and have basically had the same issue. Finally bought the phone after a complete drama with the release, got to own it for a total of 18 hours before it completely died and I had to take it back to the store.
i was replying to a text message and a call came in at the same time - it completely crashed. Plugged it into itunes(PC) and it initially said that it was in recovery mode, I turned away and looked back about 10seconds later and that option had disappeared and the iphone would not do anything after that. It was fully charged (it had JUST been taken off the charger) and after a call to apple they declared it a hardware fault and to take it back.
Now I have to sit and wait for stock to come in before they can replace it. UGH.

  • Verizon iPhone 4s Contact List/International Call Issues

Hi, my wife upgrade her ATT iPhone 3GS to a Verizon 4S. Everything went well except with anumber of issues that all seem to deal with how the phone interprets phone numbers. Here are the symptoms:
    – When a phone number is dialed from Contacts, Verizon answer and says you are not able to make international calls
    – In the contacts, phone numbers are displayed as 9165554444 in stead of (916) 555-4444. Even though on the orignial phone and her laptop they display correctly
    – When some calls or texts from a number on the contact list it is not identified even though the number matches those in the contact
    – When going to Settings > Phone the phone's own number is diplayed as 9165554444 in stead of (916) 555-4444.
Some solutions that begin to look promising:
    – if you place +1 in front of the existing nmbers they appear in the proper format, +1 (916) 555-4444, and dial correctly but this would require a retyping of many hundreds of numbers and doesn't totally fix the contact identification issue.
    – turning off "International Assist" helps in some of the issues above but not all, and I have always had this on for previous phones, both hers and mine. I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5 and have the exact settings as she does and have non of the problems.
Anyone have ideas about a solution? I have heard of at least 4 other people having the same problem on different forums.
    Richard

Here is something I found in another thread that fixed all the problems ...
Here's another fix that I found in a different thread that worked great for me and is much simpler:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16380402#16380402
    The summary:
Here is the summary of the steps I took to correct the issue:
    1) Open the Phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number.
    2) When the system answer press 1 for "Program or activate your phone"
    3) Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating something like, "Settings updated."
    4) Open the Task Manager and kill the Phone, Message, and Contacts Applications
    5) Wait a few minutes (I waited 3 just to be extra safe)
    6) Open the Message App to verify the fix.
If you are still broken, kill the Message App again, then reboot your phone.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone gets mails while making calls despite pushing switched off

    Hello,
My iPhone unwillingly (by me ) gets mail messages from the server while I make a call, (I have the mail pushing switched off).
I want to disable this because this way I'm unwillingly using my credit...
My iPhone didn't use to do this in the past (prior to the 3.1.2 update??).
Thanks in advance for any clues in resolving this.

    Yes (and No...)
In the first screen ("Settings" -> "Mail") "Fetch new data" was set to "Off".
Which, surprise surprise, made me think it was switched off...
After reading your reply I decided to have a deeper look at this. I clicked on the "fetch new data" button. Another screen came up where one can select how often your phone is supposed to fetch. Also here a "√" sign next to the button "manually" made me think the settings were ok.
I then decided to click the "advanced" button at the bottom of the screen to see what else was there.
And guess what, the settings for each individual mail account (I read more than one email account), were set to "fetch"...
I switched them for each account to "manual" and now everything is fine!
Confusing to me, but ok, it seems to work, so thanks a lot!

  • IPhone needs reactivation on startup / calling issues

    Hi everyone,
My iPhone has been playing up recently with two issues:
    1. I turn off my iPhone at night and when I turn it on when I wake up, the activation screen pops up and I can't use by iPhone until I connect it to iTunes and it activates.
    2. Now during calls the mic is exyremly fuzzy or doesn't work at all, sometimes I press end call and it allows me to talk (mic starts working again) and the call goes until the iPhone decides to recognize I pushed end call.

You need to restore the phone in iTunes. First try restoring to a backup, but the backup. If it still malfunctions, restore as a new iPhone. If that doesn't fix it, you'll have to take it to an Apple store Genius Bar to be checked out and probably replaced.

  • My iPhone 4 died while I was sleeping...

And now it won't charge or turn on. Has anybody had the same experience? Does anybody know how to resolve this?

    1. Charge phone with AC adaptor for at least 30 minutes
    2. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
If NOTHING happens during the reset - no Apple logo or other signs of life - there is a hardware failure that needs warranty service. If you get the Apple logo or "Connect to iTunes", but no further startup - try Recovery Mode:
    1. Download the latest iTunes (10.2.1) and start.
    2. Connect phone to a USB port on the computer, not an external hub.
    3. Press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears, then continue pressing the home button alone until iTunes detects the phone in Recovery Mode.
    4. Follow the prompts to restore as new.

  • My iPhone died while charging and it won't turn back on

My iPhone 4 died while in the middle of charging. I had it charging on my speakers and when i left it, it was on 30% and charging. I came back an hour later and the screen was black and it would not turn on. I've tried holding the power and home button and tried plugging it into the wall to charge it instead of the speakers. If it matters, I recently updated it to iOS6.

I am having the same issue.  I am currently in the process of trying to downgrade back to iOS5 until they can fix the issues.  There seem to be a multitude of issues with this latest upgrade.  I did find out earlier that unplugging your phone and holding the top button and home button at the same timne works BUT it must be unplugged AND you have to hold it a long time (almost 2 minutes for mine) and sometimes it takes multiple times for it to catch.  I was almost in tears and it finally worked.
I am restoring the phone to the oldest iCloud restoration date allowed (unfortunately only 2 days ago) but hopefully that was before I upgraded.  I don't remember when I did it .  Hopefully this works.

  • Call issues on iPhone 4 after upgrading to IOS 5.1.1

Ever since I upgraded to the IOS 5.1.1 my iPhone 4 has been having call issues. When I make or receive calls the other person can hear me for 5 seconds and then they can't hear me, but I can hear them. It is almost like the mute button is on, but I check it every time and it isn't on. I reset the factory settings, I reset the network settings and I checked the SIM card and nothing has fixed the problem. My phone has NEVER given me problems before and this is really frustrating. Anybody know what is causing this or how to fix it?? Please help!
    Thanks!

Apple has not been forthcoming on the explanation. My Siri worked on my iphone4 (not 4s) immediately after upgrading to IOS5, but I take it they have redirected the servers that used to support Siri to only work with Iphone4s.
It is one thing for apple to only bundle the improved Siri with IPhone 4S, or  for them to remove Siri from the Ap store.
But it is another thing all together for apple to purchase a company, and then cease the service that many of us paid for.
Attempts to contact apple at apple store and via email have been unhelpful.

  • IPhone 4S w/ beats audio tour - Call issue

    Hi,
When I use the headphones "Beats audio TOUR (with control talk) by Dr. Dre" on my iPhone 4S during a call I have no problems listening/speaking, but the other person hears echo of what they have just said  (they do not hear echo of my voice)
Does anyone have the same issue?
    Thanks

I am not particulary fond of AT&T; however, after dealing with this all day, I am honestly starting to believe it is actually a software issue.  But it does seem like completely resetting the phone would fix that.  If other iPhone users with the same device, iOS, and carrier can successfully send SMS/MMS while on call, next to me, it's hard to believe it's a network issue.
    I'm baffled.

  • IPhone 4 Phone Call Issues

About a week ago I noticed my iphone 4 (updated IOS) was having issues with phone calls.  I would make a call to someone and mid-call they could no longer hear me.  In other cases, I made a call to someone and they never could hear me at all.  Other cases, someone calls me and they cannot hear me.  Finally ther are cases where I call someone and mid-call there is a bunch of static and they cannot hear me.
I spoke with Apple and they told me that I needed to restore the phone and install it as a new iPhone.  This should deal with the issue.  I did such steps and then synced the phone and tried to make a call.  The first three calls nobody could hear me.  The next call they could hear me for 2 minutes and then static and nothing.
I have had a new SIM card installed and have reset the network as well.  In reading the Apple Support Community postings, it looks like the only long term solution is to acquire a new phone.  Is there any other solution anyone knows of to help remedy this situation.  I have had the iPhone 4 for 2 years without an issue and in the last week, this crops up.  It has not been in water, it has a case on it, I am not covering up the mics, the speaker phone is off.
Next to getting a new phone, any ideas?

There is nothing to sort out.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue still occurs, take the device to Apple for evaluation as there is obviously a hardware issue.
