    Hi,
    I know this problem is not uncommon, but here goes...
    I have an iPhone 4 which was running iOS 5.1.1 a few days ago when the ear speaker stopped working.  I cant hear the other person when I make or recieve a call, but nothing else is wrong with the phone.  It is 18 months old.
    I've searched the discussions and seen some of the suggestions.  I tried cleaning out the headphone socket, with no luck.  I then tried a full restore and update to iOS 6.  This appeared to have worked.  I tried 2 calls and I could hear the other person.  I then left the phone alone for a couple of hours and when I tried it again, it had stopped working again.
    I have since done another full restore but the speaker is still not working at all.  The fact that it worked after the first restore suggests it's something simple or software related but I have no idea what else to try other than getting it repaired in a shop.  The problem is I am in Japan where my network (Softbank) and an independent repair shop have both quoted me the equivalent of $176 / £110 to fix it.
    Does anyone know anything else I can try before I give in and end up shelling out this ridiculous cost for something that is probably a 20 minute fix?

    I have the exact same problem with my ear speaker after my IOS 6 upgrade. My speakers work, bluetooth works, the earphones work, but the ear speaker doesn’t work. I noticed this IMMEDIATELY after the upgrade was completed. I also have the following problems:
    -Very slow call connect time. 30 - 45 seconds just to connect is typical. Signal strength is 5 bars (ATT)
    -Problems attaching to known networks
    -Very slow internet browsing with many timeouts on both the ATT 3G service and known Wi-Fi networks.
    - My camera was missing after the IOS 6 upgrade. I restored that from Restrictions inside of the Settings App
    - Music was so screwed up it was easier to just restore it
    I went to the Apple store hoping to get some support. Between my wife, my son, and myself we have purchased 4 iPhones and an iPad over the last few years with plans to purchase another iPad in a month or so. So it’s not like I' not familiar with Apple Technology and their typical level of support.
    The individual who waited on me was rude and condescending. He insisted that all of the problems were hardware related or ATT’s fault, or my fault. He further asserted that IOS 6 had NOTHING to do with any of the problems. I pointed out that it would be quite a coincidence for my hardware to break, for ATT to have network problems, and for me to suddenly forget how to use an iPhone at the same exact moment that IOS 6 had been installed. He maintained his position and offered to sell me another phone.
    I don’t expect the folks in the store to reprogram the OS. Mistakes happen. I’m going to guess that Apple’s OS programmers are already working on a fix for many of the IOS 6 complaints that are easy to find on Google. Assigning blame to the customer and denying any responsibility is not a model for success or customer service. I’m sure Apple wouldn’t accept that kind of excuse from their component manufacturers and don’t think it is how they should deal with their customers. Further, Apple wants to own the device. They want to control the apps, the OS, battery, the delivery channel. I’m good with that so long as when there is a problem, they own that as well.
    And BTW… I’m not including the maps in my list of issues with IOS 6 because I kind of like the new maps and am willing to give Apple the benefit of the doubt. I believe that their map service will get a lot better in a hurry.

  • HT5312 Even after calling apple and providing the answers to the security questions they are unable to fix problem.

    It's  mindboggling that one must have two email accounts (original and rescue)  just in case we don't have a record of the passwords or we use the right ones and Apple program is having a problem.
    Our son set up his account and answered a simple security question of  "Where did your parents meet?"   It isn't a multiple answer question and Apple will no longer accept the correct answer.  He had the answer to the other two questions and again, the Apple program has erred and has now locked him out. 
    A call to Apple was completely unsuccessful with correcting the situation.
    We, 1) know the answers to the questions, 2) we have all the proof of purchases that for some reason Apple cannot link to our account which to me is just unbelievable, and 3) the original email used for the whole itune set up has never changed, is still valid and again not proof of who we are.  This all leads me to believe that they can fix the problem but that they choose not too.
    We can log into the account but can't get past the security questions even with the correct answers.
    How can their purchase orders not be linked to the funds (and associated email) they are accessing to pay for the purchase? 
    Why is it that matching the payment account to the email is not a valid proof of who we are?
    None of this makes any sense at all.

    Hellpp! My BlackBerry Q5 app world isn't opening. I don't know why. It just shows a blank black screen, loads and then shows ' An error has occurred and BlackBerry World will be closed.     Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (step 1 should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
    KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
    Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive
    2) Reboot
    Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
    BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
    See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

  • IPhone 4s stuck in recovery mode after failed restore, and won't connect to iTunes

    I tried restoring my iPhone 4s with iTunes. I download the latest firmware from apple's website, and when I tried to restore my iphone with it on itunes, it gave me an error message and put it in recovery mode. I tried to restore again, but it will not connect to itunes.I've tried turning to DFU mode and other things, but it still won't show up on itunes as a phone in recovery mode, or anything. Is it bricked, or can I still fix it?

    What was the exact error message, including any numbers?  Was this phone ever jailbroken?

    I had several problems downloading the software and plenty of errors. My most recent backup before the update was a day ago. Since downloading the new iOS 5 software I lost all my pictures, and I'm really upset about it. My phone has been synced with iTunes since the restore, but I was wondering if I can get my pictures back?

    If you cannot get them by restoring from backup then they are gone.
    Why would you update anyhting without making sure that all of your pics were on your computer and backed up?
    You should never update/reinstall any software without making sure that everything is backed up.

  • IPad touch screen does not respond even after full restore and update

    I have an iPad 2 64 GB
    It has for a number of months intermittently stopped responding to any touch screen inputs. This issue began almost as soon as I opened the iPad for the first time. As it was happening very rarely and normally responded eventually, so I thought nothing of it.
    This week the iPad will not respond to any touch input at all (Home, On/Off, Volume and Mute buttons still respond). I have tried the hard reset process a number of times and still nothing.
    I backed up the device to my machine and applied the latest update 5.1.1 and still no response. I then did a factory reset and still nothing.
    I have never dropped or damaged my iPad in any way.
    Does anybody know of any ongoing issues with the touch screen or a solution to this problem?

    I've already booked myself in to the Genius Bar this week.
    I suspect it is a hardware failure and more specifically a loose internal connection.

  • Update, Acrobat 11 Pro 11.0.07 is installed. Everytime I start my computer, a pop-up asks me to update. The update is 11.0.07. Even after I click and do the update, the next time my computer boots, there is the pop-up for 11.0.07. How do I kill it ?

    Adobe Support is a profound waste of time.

    The mystery was solved. The message "Update 11.0.07", unlike every other type of software out there, does not mean update TO 11.0.07, it means I had 11.0.07 and this was offering an update for it.  The person responsible for that popup message at Adobe needs to look at how the rest of the industry words their upgrade messages.

    I already tried uninstalling all add ons and then reinstall them again. Can the problem be related to the Siphon add on (which I no longer use)?

    You posted your troubleshooting information in another thread ([[/questions/907656]]) that seems to indicate that you use or have used that profile folder with a lot of Firefox versions and are overriding the compatibility check (extensions.checkCompatibility.12.0).
    You need to use a separate profile for each Firefox version if you want to use multiple Firefox versions.

    I never had this problem, but just noticed it happening.. Please note it's a BUG. I went out and bought a 128GB  iPhone just to hold all my songs. It wouldn't work. This never happened with the iPhone 3/3s/4/5/5s but started happening with the iPhone 6. After 40 hours of working through all possible solutions on the web and with Apple cares support (supposedly senior level) They finally suggested what the problem was. I had "Convert higher bit songs to 128  aac" Checked. This does not work One more thing when I unchecked that, the sync took like 3.5 hours instead of the 9-12 hours is usually took even on the smaller iphones. I have 98.7GB of music. Before I was just syncing a list of specific songs.
    The syncing seems to be random when it has the problem though.
