My iphone 4 has lost sound..
has sound when i plug headphones in but that is it. have tried turning it off, doing reboot, and reset. nothing worked...what is the next step before a complete restore?
Hi Bob/Nicki4023, I have the same problem, it lost sound completely, but the mute switch is off. The switch seems to be working since it visibly turns to mute when applied. Music visibly starts playing but no sound is emitted, and the volume slider is not shown unless I plug in the headphones, then the volume buttons start working again and the sound returns but when I unplug the headphones it turns mute again. The same happens when playing a video, videos that played normally yesterday today seem like no sound was recorded. Apps i.e. games don't emit any sound although not set up on mute. The ringtone sounds when receiving a call but the rest of notifications would just vibrate even having a programmed sound. I'm starting to think this might be a virus... Please help

You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...

I recently put on a PowerPoint presentation at DU, in Denver Colorado; signed on as DU guest to access Internet link. SInce then I haven't been able to get e-mail on my Iphone - Cannot Get Mail, Server Stopped Responding. I tried all previous suggestions, such as rebooting phone, updating software etc. I went to MacBook Pro and tried logging on to yahoo e-mail. Apparently there was a security risk to my e-mail account so Yahoo locked up my account. I reset my password, it was verified through text message, and Voila it worked. Don't forget you also have to change this on your Iphone: go into settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; click on your e-mail browser, then account and enter your new password, click done and it will verify on you phone as well. So my Ipad, 3rd generation, has lost sound. The volume controls have dissappeared on the task bar, the mute button is not switched on. But when I use the side button for volume control, I just get the little messgae sound effects.
When I switch the mute button off and on, it shows full volume, or what ever volume I set it at using the little bar in the settings menu for sound.
I get volume after restating my ipad and entering my password, but then it's gone. I also get sound, when I ask Siri, and she talks when ask her a question. I have even restored the ipad software, but what ever is causing the problem is being reinstalled when the back up loads.
How can I can fix this? Is anyone one else having this issue?There have been a number of people that have talked about this same issue for weeks now. I have no idea what causes it, not have I seen anyone say that something specific fixed it. If you restored from a backup - like you said yourself - you could be restoring whatever glitch in the settings causes this to happen.
Have you tried resetting all settings? Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
I reset all of my settings yesterday because I was trying to fix a really weird issue with my Automatic Time Zone setting. It seemed to fix the issue for me. I don't know of it was just a coincidence or not, but it is working properly again for me now.
You will have to go through all of the settings in the settings app and set everything up all over again. You will have to join your home network again. You will have to allow access to all of the apps in the Privacy setting, enable Siri again, Select your custom wallpaper again, reset your brightness level .... All of that stuff.
If that doesn't work, then the next step would be to restore as new and see if the volume comes back, then start adding all of your content back to the iPad. -
My 4gs iphone has lost wi-fi connectivity. When I go to "Settings > Wi-Fi", I see "Wi-Fi" and the on-off button, but it shows up in light gray. When I click "Off" to turn on Wi-Fi, nothing happens. HELP!

IPhone 4S has lost sound on iTunes, films and pretty much everything since ios6 update!
I updated to iOS 6 yesterday and since then I have lost all sound of my iTunes and films and stuff. There is no volume control available. It did work earlier for a brief time but stopped again. I have tried restarting, resetting and pretty much everything I can to resolve this but to no avail. Does any key have any ideas or have apple bugger up us iPhone 4S users? Please help its annoying me as I use iTunes a lot. Also I get no unlock sound or key clicks.

My iPhone 5 has problem when I receive or make a call there's no sound. I can't hear the other person and the other person can't hear me. If I turn off and turn on my phone, It's ok (3 times). But support team of App store said that this problem due to my service (WIND). And they said if I used a famous service (Fido...) they will change new phone for me????????????????????? I'm really upset and confused.

IPhone 3GS Has Lost Sound When Phoning
My wife has a 3GS she bought in July of this year. A few weeks ago, she noticed that she could not use it to make or receive any phone calls because there was no sound, so she could not hear the person on the other end of the call. If she uses the speaker phone option it works, but this means everyone close by can hear it too. We called the APPLE 1-800 line and were told to try resetting the iPhone through iTunes (back to factory settings) but it still will not work. The lady from APPLE made it sound as if it might cost us money to have it fixed, which makes no sense to me. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

About a month ago i lost all sounds from my iphone 3g.
It works perfectly apart from the sounds. No ringing, clicking, ipod, anything with sound does not work.
It all works fine through the headphones.
I have tried removing and replacing the headphones hundreds of times and also blowing into the jack but i'm pretty sure my phone is not stuck in headphone mode as i've done the tests to see.
It happened after an update so i have the most updated version.
I have tried a reset, restore and just about everything i can find on the net forums.
The only other option i have is to take it into the store and send it away to be looked at, but i am reluctant to do this as it is not insured and i am due a new contract next month.
Any ideas of something new i can try???Try this to verify that it definitely isn't that it's stuck in headphone mode.
For me, when I'm using the iPod app, it remembers the volume last used for both speaker and headphones so if I'm playing something and I pull the headphones out it pauses the song and I can visibly see the volume change without my input. So try setting different volumes for each state and see if yours does the same thing.
Maybe the speaker is simply dead.
