My iPhone 4 has never backed up to anything, the account I started it with I never used. I now have a new icloud account, if I delete the old one will I lose my photos or will they still be on my phone?

My iPhone 4 has never backed up to anything, the account I started it with I never used so I was never able to verify it or anything. I now have a new icloud account and I want to backup my phone before I get a new one in a couple of days. If I delete the old account will I lose my photos or will they still be on my phone (remember they've never been backed up)? Thanks!

You cannot delete an Apple ID, you can just stop using it. If your photos are still on your phone now, then I suggest you do back them up. Transfer them from the phone into your iPhoto Library. iCloud only backs up your Camera Roll automatically. But the Camera Roll only contains new photos that were taken but not yet transferred using iTunes.

(After my old laptop blew, it won't turn on anymore). I've invested quite a bit of money into my music, and it'd be a bummer if it's all gone to waste.
    Thanks in advance!

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

My wife and I have one Apple ID through which we have individually purchased apps for her iPad and my iPad 2. We both now have individual iCloud accounts, and she now has an iPhone. For business reasons we now have to separate the apps under our individual iCloud accounts, but will maintain a single Apple ID for purchases. How can we separate the apps?

    Hi Shadow,
The apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that they were purchased under. Your iCloud accounts are also Apple IDs, so although you can sync the apps to your individual device via iTunes, you will be syncing them to the devices, not to iCloud.
Since you are still purchasing everything under one Apple ID, then I'm presuming that they live in a single iTunes library on your computer or Mac? If that is the case, then you would just want to:
Hook up a device to the Mac or computer
Select the device when it shows up under devices
Once selected, the Device Profile screens display to the right - click on the Apps tab, and select which ones you want on that device.
Also check all the other profile pages to make sure they are set up to sync the things you want to sync to that device.
On the info page, you will see that you can sync Contacts & Calendars via iCloud or via iTunes. If you want a single source for contacts & calendars for both of your devices, sync them via iTunes. If you want your own sets of contacts & calendars, sync them via iCloud.
Do you have iCloud set up on the computer or Mac? If so, which iCloud account are you planning on using?
Some of the decisions you will want to make will depend on how you have your computer or Mac configured in conjunction with iTunes. One Apple ID, but one or two User Accounts for the computer or Mac? iCloud on the computer or Mac? What do you want to share and to not share?
    Post back with any questions.
    Cheers,

  • HT1329 I have imported music files on my iPod Classic which I don't have on my old PC as it had less capacity than the iPod. I now have a new PC and want to transfer the music from the iPod to my new PC so that I have back ups. How can I do this?

How do I move music imported from my old CD collection onto my iPod, which I did not retain on my old PC as there was not enough memory. I no longer have all the CDs so cannot import them to my new PC, so want to copy them directly off my iPod Classic to my new PC.
    How do I do that?
    Thanks

You cannot do it (transfer song files from iPod to computer) using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download previous purchases using the iTunes Store Purchased screen).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can be used to transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your new computer's hard drive, drag them (or the folder containing the files) to the iTunes window to add them to your new computer's iTunes library.

  • Will changing Apple ID give me a new icloud account but save my apps and photos?

I currently have 2 ipads, an iphone and a MacBook, all using the same Apply ID and sharing the same icloud space.  The old ipad is used now primarily by my daughter, but it has tons of my photos that I do not want to lose.  But, I want to free up cloud space for the new ipad, iphone and MacBook.  If I change my apple ID for the old ipad, do I get a new icloud account to backup it up on?  And if I change the apple ID, will it still keep all my photos, music and apps that are currently on it, even apps that I purchased with the present apple ID?  Thanks for any help.

You can create a new iCloud account on your old iPad and migrate the data to the new account.  To do this,
if there are any photos in the my photo stream album on it that are not in the camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll or you will lose them.  To do this, open the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this iPad, not from iCloud.  The devices that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPad.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, if there is any data in either account that you do not want you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately, then manually delete it.
You do not need to change the Apple ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores.  You can continue to share the same iTunes account, along with apps and other purchased media.

  • Transferring Notes & Photos to new iCloud Account?

I created a new Apple ID so that I could have a new iCloud account. Now, how do I transfer my current photos and notes to the new iCloud account?

I think I misunderstood your situation.  I thought your device was already signed into an old iCloud account and you were trying to change it to a newer one.
If your device is not signed into an iCloud account and you wish to create one, go to Settings>iCloud, sign in with your Apple ID to create your account and turn on the data you wish to sync with iCloud and choose Merge with iCloud when prompted.  If you want to use photo stream, go to Settings>iCloud>Photos and turn on My Photo Stream (also turn on Photo Sharing if you which to share your photos with others).  If you want to back up to iCloud, tap Storage & Backup and turn on iCloud Backup.  Your device will automatically back up daily when it is connected to wifi and your charger and you screen is locked (such as by connecting it to your charger when you go to bed).  You can also start a backup manually by tapping Back Up Now.  Note: this creates a device backup, it does not sync your data with iCloud.
After you enable photo stream, photos added to your camera roll will automatically be uploaded to your photo stream when you are connected to wifi, the camera app is closed, and you have at least 20% battery life remaining.  Photos that are on your device before turning on photo stream are not added to your photo stream; only new photos are.

  • I have an old Ipod which I loaded music many years ago. . .I no longer have the itunes which I originally loaded, however, I have a new itune account with songs loaded. . what will happen if I load these songs onto my ipod today?

I have an older ipod which many years ago I loaded my music from Itunes on another computer. . .that computer crashed. . .I now have a new Itunes account and music loaded on another computer. . I would like to add songs onto my ipod. . .can this be done?

Not without erasing what is currently on the iPod first, since an iPod can only be synced with one computer/iTunes library at a time.
A better way to go about it, is to copy everything currently on the iPod to your new iTunes library first.  Then connect it to iTunes and either choose the Erase and Sync option or restore the device to allow it to start syncing with the new library.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

I would "guess", since you were in the middle of backing up, your backup is corrupt & most likely unusable. Only one way to find out though, & that's by trying to restore from that backup. If your pics are not there, they are gone.

  • I have two different iCloud accounts. I can't sign into photo stream with my personal account and have tried deleting from my iPhone first, then the MacBook Pro. Still won't let me sign in with the personal account. Please help.

I have two different iCloud accounts - business and personal. I can't sign into Photo Stream with my personal account because it says my business account is my primary account. They are separate but equal accounts. I have tried deleting the iCloud account from my iPhone, then my MacBook Pro and signing in again on both devices. The iPhone says that my primary account ismy personal account (which is good) but my MacBook Pro still will not sign into that account so I can use Photo Stream.
Any suggestions? This iCloud stuff is getting annoying.

  • What will happen to my pictures if I delete my I cloud account? Will they still be on my phone?

What will happen to my pictures if I delete my iCloud account on my phone? Will they still be under the camera on my phone? I can't remember my user name or password :(

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you delete your iCloud account, you will also turn off photo stream and lose any photos that you had in photo stream, which may include photos from another device. However you will not lose any photos in your camera roll.
If all you have done is forgotten your password why not use the Apple site iForgot.com

I am having trouble removing songs from my iPhone.  i have unchecked songs in the library on my mac, but they still show up on phone after syncing.  how do I remove them?

    Hi asims01,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

I hope this information helps ....

  • Archive and Install - will I lose my photos?

    Hi
I need to reinstall OS X as I am having some problems with the blue screen and the fact that my iBook will not boot up. Before I go ahead and reinstall can anyone confirm that I will not lose my photos (and music). I really do not want to lose years worth of photos. (I know, I should have made a bcak up!)
    Thank you

    Hi JTatro
An Arhive and Install will keep your documents, photos, files, etc, in a folder called previous system, so no, you won't lose them.
But to be safer still, it would be even better to backup these precious files to another location, like to DVD or another drive.
If this answered your question, please consider awarding stars.

  • HT4236 if i sync with ipad using pc will i lose my photos in the ipad phot library?

if i sync with ipad using pc will i lose my photos in the ipad phot library?

You won't lose photos that you've taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websites - those photos aren't affected by syncing.
If they are photos that were originally synced from a computer and this isn't the same computer, then you should be prompted as to whether you want them replacing - but there is a risk that they will be removed.
