Then what is locking it? Have you tried Resetting it? Hold down the home and sleep buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.

my daughter has a new 16 GB iPhone 6 plus that is giving her all kinds of problems.
we switched from AT&T on our older iPhones to Sprint and 4 of us have iPhone 6's and my daughter has the 6 Plus who is the only one having issues so far.
One issue is a locking screen requiring rebooting which does not always work.
Sometimes when she is talking with someone on her iPhone the phone re-dials that same person/number!
Sometimes her texts do not go thru
Her iPhone is updated to the latest IOS 8.1.3
Any help will be appreciated as this has been very frustrating!

I want the same thing. But if you don't mind text and icons being a little bigger, I think you can turn on the zoom setting under display & brighteness, I think that will stop the home screen from rotating without locking everything else.

I lost my iPhone 5 with screen lock. Im 99% sure that I had set screenlock security & that if password was punched in wrong 10 times it would erase all data. What are the chances?. If you lost the iPhone without having turned on Find My Phone, the iPhone can be cleansed and used. If Find My Phone was on, then it cannot be broken. Tha said it is still a very good idea to change your passwords associated with accounts on your iPhone.

You mean the passcode lock, or just the generic lock that requires no passcode?
For passcode lock, go Settings > General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and then disable the feature.
For normal screen lock, go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock, and set it to 'Never'.
Now your iPhone will only screen lock when you press the 'Sleep/Wake' button.

It is really annoying as sometimes the phone doesn't respond to attempts to end the call before it connects to the number. I have had the same issue which was driving me mad but think I have just found a way around it. In iOS 7 if you swipe up on the lock screen to access quick settings and go into timer then click the home button you get into the phone without calling the person back. Not a great 'fix' but hope it works for you. Come on Apple this isn't good enough, fix this bug otherwise you will lose your customers.

Depending on what iPhone you have when you get to the connect to wifi you should be able to activate your device over cellular data. Try doing a hard reset by holding the home circle button an power button until an apple pops up and the go through the setup again and when you get to the wifi part a option should be setup with cellular data iPhone 4 and above should give this option sometimes doesn't like showing up that's why u have to do a hard reset first

Double click the home button, swipe the dock at the bottom of the screen to the right, tap the circle/lock so it becomes just a circular arrow.

Next step is to Restore it in iTunes from your backup. If that does not work they try Restoring it as a new phone. If still no go it is a hardware failure and you will need to get it serviced.
And you are not showing the hardware lock icon on the top right of the home screen?

recovery mode
open itunes on computer
plug cable into computer not phone
turn phone off
hold home button and plug cable into phone. do not release home button until an itunes graphic appears on device.
look to computer should have message about recovery mode click ok and restore

Iphone 3GS. The slide bar does not work, ie the screen lock does not unlock. I have tried to reset (power and home buttons) and also to restore my iphone several times using iTunes without any success. Any suggestions? My son uses the phone now for games, so it has no carrier.

A reset can be done by tapping and holding the Home button and the Sleep/On/Off buttons at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears.

Tap on the "slide to unlock" text, and after you hear the voice, double tap the text. If you have a passcode, tap the letter, wait for the voice, and double tap the letter. Repeat for each letter.
Then go to Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver OFF. You may also be able to turn it off by triple pressing the home button.
