another question how long after phone is charged then auto back up suppose to start

Hi Kayak Paddler,
Have you tried to log off from iCloud and logging back in? After that, you could try to turn off and then on the backup button.
Also, deleting previous iCloud backups is a good idea if there is any.

For some reason my iPhone 4 will not back up to iCloud when I press the back up now button in settings.

  • Can I get my old pictures back if my iphone 5c is not backed up by icloud?

I was trying to download music onto my iphone 5c but instead it restored my iphone 5c and I lost all my pictures. My iphone is not backed up by icloud. But it there a possibility that I can get my pictures back?

Was it backed up to iTunes? If so, you may be able to recover them, especially if your computer backup was also backing up the iTunes backup location.
Also, in the future I would highly recommend that in addition to backing up that you periodically import your iPhone photos to a computer: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

  • My iPhone 3GS is not backing up to iCloud.. Help, please?

So I jusy got my iPhone back after not using it for 8 months. I tried to do an iCloud backup and it didn't work. I tired several times more and finally went online to see if there was a solution. I've tried everything I could find. I erased all my data and tried backing it up again, but it still isn't restoring any of my pictures or messages or notes. All of my contacts I imported and (for some strange reason)  all my weather updates are there, but nothing else. The last time I backed it up everything worked fine, but I had to delete my main email that I was using as my account username and all so I'm wondering if that may have something to do with the issue. Everyone is telling me it's not, but it's not working and I can't think of anything else that would pose as the problem. I tried to log into my iCloud account but I don't remember the answers to my security questions. Well, correction, I do but they just aren't working (for some reason at random times my passwords won't work either).  I tried to call Apple, but their hours are super short and I didn't get ahold of them in time. I am very annoyed because I had so much important data on my phone that I would really like back but I don't know how to get it back. Last time I ever had an issue like this was before iCloud, back in the days when you had to restore or backup your iPhone to iTunes. They told me when I went into the Apple store, back when that happened, that I'd never have this issue again as long as I had an iCloud, but I guess not. Unless there is a way to explain this all, then I'm screwed. I'm almost wondering if the backups get too old and delete themselves, but how would that make any sense at all? I'm very frustrated and have spent hours trying to fix this stupid device but haven't been able to find a solution. If ANYONE knows or even thinks they got an idea as to what the problem is and can possibly provide me with a solution, whether complicated or easy, I would very much apprreciate it. Thanks.

It is very difficult for us to advise you with limited information.
Could you post the specific error message?

  • My iPhone 4S has not backed up to iCloud ever since I installed iOS7.

I seem to have all of the proper settings in Settings. I have tried backing up explicitly by selecting "Back up now" in Settings > iCloud > Storage & backup. It acted as though it were backing up but after it was done, iTunes still shows my latest cloud backup date as October 5, 2013, and today I got an alert on my iPhone that it has not been backed up in 5 weeks. WiFi is on, the iPhone is connected to a charger, and the phone is locked. What else do I need?
I have 4.1 GB of available space in my iCloud account.
    What am I missing?

If there is nothing 'new' to be backed up, then iCloud isn't going to overwrite the old backup with an exact duplicate.
What is turned 'on' in your iCloud backup?  Add something new to your device (like a new Contact or Calendar for example), and then try the manual backup again.  Make sure you're connected to wi-fi and plugged into a power outlet.

  • IPhone 5 contacts not backing up to iCloud

I am trying to back up a family member's iPhone 5's contacts to my their iCloud and for some reason the contacts will not sync. Most of them are there, but not the latest ones from the past 2 or so months. I performed a back up last night manually from the phone and checked the cloud today to see if they were there and they were not. The contacts slider within settings > iCloud is turned on so I don't see why it wouldn't be backing them up.
It is very important that all these contacts are stored within the iCloud as they are very important to this person's business.
    Any suggestions?

    You can try this:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (they will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  Use this to backup the remaining contacts on your phone (from the other accounts/groups) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap each of your accounts (Google, exchange, etc.) and turn off contacts syncing with these other accounts.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the other groups back to your device and to iCloud.
(I'm not sure if this works with Facebook contacts or not.)

  • IPhone 6 photos not backing up to iCloud

My iPhone 6 photos are no longer backing up to my Photo Stream folder in iCloud. I have all the settings on my phone set correctly:
iCloud photo library (beta) is on so photos are automatically stored in iCloud.
Upload to my Photo Stream is on so new photos are automatically uploaded to iCloud
On my computer (windows 7), all iCloud settings are correct as well. Photos is checked off so photos back up.
Weird thing is, my shared folders are backing up.... It's just my My Photo Stream folder that is not backing up...
    What to do?

    Hello Lana Alana,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you are using the iCloud Photo Library beta, then your items are automatically being stored and uploaded to iCloud.  Take a look at the information outlined below to learn more.
Can I use iCloud Photo Library to back up my Photo Library instead of iCloud Backup or iTunes?
Yes. If you turn on iCloud Photo Library, it will automatically upload and store all of your photos and videos from any of your devices that are using iCloud Photo Library. iCloud Photo Library won't be part of the iCloud Backup, because it's already storing all your photos and videos in iCloud.

  • My new iPhone 5 will not sync calendars with my iMac and iPad.

Can someone please help me with this. I have ticked the sync calendars in the phone info tab. I tend to put appointments on both my iPhone and my iPad so I need all 3 talking to each other.

So I've always sort of had this problem with syncing my calendar and I think I finally figured out why. It seems I have two Apple ID's. My iCloud email address is [email protected] This is one Apple ID. My iTunes account has always been my Gmail email address. This is another Apple ID. Since I never use my Apple email address, I never considered that to be my Apple ID. I always considered what I used to connect to iTunes my Apple ID. So when I set up any iPhone I've ever had - when asked for my Apple ID I always put in my gmail address and it worked just fine. The problem is nothing was ever syncing properly with the cloud. Tonight, on my iPhone, I went to Settings > iCloud and then scrolled down to the bottom and deleted the account (this was my personal account at Gmail) Then I added [email protected] as my Apple ID. I then made sure everything in iCloud was switched on on the iPhone and just like magic, I went back to my iCal on the phone and everything syncs perfectly. It was a simple issue of having two Apple ID's. Make sure the email address you're using for iCloud is the Apple ID you're setting your iPhone up with and everything should work properly. Nobody has ever been able to figure this out for me. I hope this will help someone who has been as frustrated as I have been for such a long time now.

My iphone 4s will not back up with iCloud. it tells me i dont have enough iCloud storage available, that i can manage my storage in my settings, when i click the settings it tells me i have 2.8 GB free space out of 5 GB. i dont know what to do about this problem. it hasnt been backed up in 3 weeks. and if i still have icloud space avaliable on my phone i do not need to purchase more. i have very few aps backed up on my icloud. i do not understand this help me please

Go to Settings>General>Usage and see how much space is available on your phone (listed at the very top).  The pop-up might be telling you that you don't have enough space on your phone to perform the backup, not that you don't have enough space in your iCloud acount to store the backup.

  • HT4859 My iPhone does not back up with iCloud.

Hi, my iPhone just does not back up with iClouds, even trying manually. Don't know why, tried everithing, it just start the proces and says: "calculating remining time" and stays there forever. Anyone know something about?
I even upgraded the iCloud back up space (was close to the five gb)
Even-thought my iPad works perfectly with iCloud using the same account.
    Thanks!

  • Iphone 4s will not back up

My iphone 4s will not back up to icloud.
Storage informs me I have 4.7 GB free from 5.0 GB.
I see nothing at icloud on ANYTHING.
I have just gone through the menus on the phone and hit backup which started.
Informed it would take about 40 mins, but stopped after about ten
Anybody had same problem, and how was it fixed please.
    Would be most greatful
    Thanks

    Thanks for that.
Thought it was ment to be an automatic thing.
Just press "Back-up Phone" and off it went up to icloud.
    No such luck.
Marketing people just tell you any old rubbish.
It would be ok if they said "You have to do lots more to get it to work", but they don't.
    Bit like Microsoft
Settings on icloud on my Mac will not set photos to back up, or import to iphoto on the Mac
Seems I need to update iphoto at £10.99. More expense.
If I did not have a Mac, would it back up the photos to icloud I wonder.
Looks like I might buy Photoshop, forget about icloud, and use Google Drive or Drop Box instead.
    Thanks for your help

  • Is anyone having a problem with iPhone 5 not backing up to iCloud. No problem at first now it says it will take 35 hrs, etc to back up.

Is anyone having a problem with iPhone 5 not backing up to iCloud. No problem at first now it says it will take 35 hrs, etc to back up.

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

My iphone is not backing up to icloud even though on itunes i have set it to back up to icloud. whenever i do a cable connection between my iphone and mac at the end of the exercise it indicates the last time the iphone was backed up i.e. "last back: 9.08a.m. but on the iphone itself it says it hasn't been backed up since March and on icloud there hasn't been any back up because the latest additions to the iphone are not there.
Periodically i get this message "This iphone has not been backed up ... weeks" I have followed through with all the steps and still no joy. I did however notice that my icloud email account on the iphone is different to the one i have on the computer. It would apear that I am using the two interchanagably but i have been trying to correct this so that i"ll use the same one right through.
Might this be the problem and how can i resolve it? Pls help

If this is your first time backing up your phone then yeah it might take several hours. It's definitely something you want to do before you head to bed. So try that but also make sure that your contents that are to be backed up are less than 5GB since iCloud only has 5GB of space. Usually photos are what would take up the most space so check how many photos in terms of GB you have by going into settings->general->usage then look at photos and camera.
    Hope this works!
