My iPhone 4 is stuck on "Connect to iTunes" screen

I was doing a recovery on my iPhone when something went wrong and now it's completely stuck. It's stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. ITunes doesn't recognize it and I don't know what to do. I've also tried to put my phone in DFU mode, but iTunes still don't recognize it.

I also am stuck but when I press restore from backup it says that
"find my iphone must be turned off before iphone can be restored.  It also says to " go to iCloud settings on your iphone and turn off Find my Iphone before restoring your iphone.
However I am unable to do this because it is stuck at connected to iTunes.
I have turned it off and did a complete restore to factory settings all to no avail.
My phone is not working either.  help

  • My iphone 3gs is stuck on connect to itunes screen and it keeps looping with the apple icon screen if I try to reset it, can anybody help?

Please help??? I have tried the reset and it seemed to have made it worse, now it won't charge completely. Any ideas?

Ignore sandeep.  Don't use DFU mode.  You need to use recovery mode.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Placing your device into recovery mode
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.

  • What to do when Iphone 4 is stuck on connect to itunes screen?

    Please Help!
I unplugged my Iphone 4 from the computer and a screen showing me to connect to itunes showed up. It has been stuck on that screen for hours and after showing the message for a couple of seconds, the phone turns off by itself. If I click on the home buttom and the sleep button, it turns it on, shows the screen and then off again. I connect to itunes, but neither itunes or my computer recognize the device. I have no idea what to do now.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION.

    help

The iPhone has gone into recovery mode and you have to restore by connecting to a computer with iTunes and follow the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.  If you do not have a computer with iTunes, a friend with a computer with iTunes, can you get to an Apple store genius bar and see if the techs will restore for you?

  • IPHONE 4 STUCK AT CONNECT TO ITUNE SCREEN

My iPhone 4 is stuck at connect to itune screen...

If you connect the iPhone to your computer and launched iTunes and nothing happened you will need to make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. If so then you will need to troubleshoot iTunes.

  • IPhone 4 Stuck on 'Connect to iTunes' screen.

I.. was kinda trying to get rid of the iOS 7 update files which were automatically downloaded to my iPhones following this discussion page: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5379403?start=0&tstart=0
Following the instructions posted there, I managed to get rid of about 3GBs of the iOS 7 files out of my iPhone 5.
    What I followed was nzzzzz's 'Method B'
Method B: Open Settings->General->Software Update, Click "Install Now". There will be a prompt says "Verifying update...", Wait until this prompt disappear, there will be a spinning wheel on the black background. Immediately press and hold both of the power and home buttons at the same time. DO NOT release the power and home buttons for about 10 seconds. Your device will reboot. It's done. The automatically downloaded firmware will have been deleted. Now read part 1 to prevent automatically downloading in the future.
However, when I tried it again on my iPhone 4, it's now stuck on 'Connect to iTunes' screen.
No DFU modes or recovery modes seemed to be working, so I gave up and decided to restore & upgrade to iOS 7.
Then there was another problem, iTunes 'did' recognize the device as in 'recovery mode', downloaded the 7.0.3 update file, and tried to restore the device... but it got me 'error 9134'.
I followed the instructions on forums and discussion pages, and even called the Apple Care Services for technical support... but nothing worked. Nothing.
All those 'hosts' file edit and iTunes removal(and other following services) + download/install to the latest iTunes did not work on me, and now the device is 'just stuck on Connect to iTunes' screen.
    Any suggestions..?
(BTW, English is not my native language, so if there's anything that cannot be understood, tell me)
    + Thanks in advance

Plus, my iPhone 4 is not backed up... not even in iCloud I think... There are some old pictures I'd like to keep, but almost forgot to get them out since I bought 5 a few weeks ago. I was using the iPhone 4 for the TV cable with the 30-pin connector.

Hi, I solved this problem on my iPad.
First I followed the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4097?viewlocale=en_US  and recovered the iPad. iPad turns empty like new.
Then I followed the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414?viewlocale=en_US (Option: Restoring your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) and restored my iPad from a previous backup from iTunes.
When the backup restore was finished, many apps were missing on my iPad. I synchronized it again with iTunes (it took a while although I don't have many apps) and everything was back exactly as before.
I don't know what caused the problem in the first place, being stuck in the iTunes USB screen, but it seems to be solved now. I will anyway try to always remember to close all apps and not leave them running in background. Maybe my iPad got confused?

  • IPhone stuck on "Connect to iTunes" screen. Connect to computer, "USB device not recognised". Can't reset. Suggestions?

Above says it all. Frustrated, no one seems to have an answer. Anyone know of anything that could get me closer to fixing it?
Happened when iPhone 4 was updated to iOS 5. Problem was Kaspersky was on - I know this because I have had trouble when updating my iPhone in the past when it was on. Unable to get anywhere in terms of restoring because it's stuck on Connect to iTunes screen, computer won't recognise it and reset won't work.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had this problem before and fixed it. Its happened to me again very recently so its not uncommon. I had to completely uninstall ITunes and most importantly uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support which can all be found in the uninstall programs in the control panel. once you have done that, re install the most up to date iTunes (don't worry about having to find another Apple Mobile Device Support software as the most up to date version of that gets installed with iTunes). Once that is done take out the USB cable make sure the iPhone is off or blank ad iTunes is not open. Then simply plug in the USB and iPhone you don't have to hold any buttons and the phone should light up and you get a message about the apple mobile device support software being installed then itunes opens asking if you want to restore this iPhone. if this doesn't work don't worry take out the phone and try a different USB socket making sure iTunes isnt open for some reason it doesnt like it open.
Hope that helps im only saying whats helped for me so sorry if it doesnt for you

  • Phone stuck on connect to itunes screen after update attempt

Hi, hope someone can help me. I connected my iPhone to my computer to transfer my photos from the phone to the PC. I have automatic syncing turned off.
When I connected, I was prompted to update the iTunes version, which I did. It's now version 9. Then I attempted to update the iPhone version. I got a message saying I had to transfer my purchases first, which I did. Then I tried the update again. The update seemed to take awhile, then I got a message saying it failed. There was a "More Information" button which just prompted me to send info to Apple, which I did. Unfortunately I didn't save the info.
At that point all my iPhone info no longer showed in iTunes, and the only active option is Restore. It does say "Your iPhone software is up to date," which would seem to indicate that the update did work...I tried disconnecting and reconnecting my phone. When I do this, I get the message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
I would rather not Restore the phone unless I have no other options, since I have 600 pics, contacts, etc on the phone...Of course not backed up since this is the first time I've tried to transfer data.
So I tried a few things:
    - I disconnected and reconnected the phone several times.
    - I restarted the computer several times.
    - I went to the Apple site and tried the troubleshooting steps for "stuck on connect to itunes screen" (which is what my phone is currently doing).
    - I ran the diagnostic checks in iTunes (output below - I ran this while the phone was plugged in yet it says it's not found).
    - I held down the Home and the Sleep/Wake button until I see the Apple icon.
    - I went to My Computer > Manage and tried to update drivers, but the phone doesn't show in the device manager.
    - I tried a different USB port and there are no other devices connected to the machine.
Nothing worked, my phone is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and I get the error message every time I plug it in. I haven't tried another computer bc I don't have one and I'm not sure how to create/use another user account on this machine.
I wouldn't mind calling support but my phone doesn't work...Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your only choice at this point is to restore your iphone. Since it appears from your post that you have never synced to this computer, you of course will not have a backup to restore from. That means your only choice is to restore as a new device & re-sync your itunes content. Unfortunately, all of your contacts, calendars, pics in your camera roll, etc., will be lost. Its not a good idea to use the iphone or any phone for that matter as a storage device, as things like this can & do happen. You should be syncing on a regular basis. The first thing done when you do sync is an iphone backup. You should also transfer pics in your camera roll to a supported application on your computer on a regular basis, much like any digital camera. You can always sync pics back to your phone, but if the only copies are on the phone, you run the risk of losing them.
See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

  • IPhone3G got stuck on connect to iTunes screen while doing upgrade iOS 4.2

Right after my iTunes 10.1 downloaded the iOS 4.2, it automatically started installing and sync-ing to my phone as usual.
It restarted itself, apple logo came out and ...
    1. Stuck on "connect to itunes" screen eventough it was connected for the whole time. Unplugged it and plugged it back in, still got the same screen.
    2. Neither my PC or itunes recognize it at all.
    3. Unable to do soft reset but hard reset is ok. When i turn it on, the same screen comes out after the apple logo and got stuck until it turns itself off in about 30 sec.
    3. Tried to connect it to the usb/itunes many different ways when the "connect to itunes" screen is on, but still got the same result.
    4. Tried to do factory reset by holding the home button and connect it to the usb until the itunes recognize it, but still no luck (u can be sure on that it was properly done since it's not the first time i'm doing it).
FYI: the phone has never been serviced or customized.
Need some help ASAP here ppl. Please!

I'm having the same problem too. I've been trouble shooting it based off advice from Apple's website and other people's information but so far nothing has worked. When I turn it on, it says connect to iTunes. I do. When I can get iTunes to recognize the iPhone is plugged in (which I seem to be able to only do when I stop and restart the Apple Mobile Device service), it says the phone is in recovery mode and has to be restored. I go through the process and so far it always stops on the "preparing iPhone for restore" process. Then I get the following error message ... the iPhone "iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1604). I seem to keep getting the 1604 and I haven't found a workable resolution yet for it.
If anyone could help, I would be so appreciative.

Do as the screen shows - connect the iPhone to the computer you usually sync with and use
iTunes on that computer to restore the iPhone.
