My Iphone 4 isn't recognised by my itunes? Any ideas please
As above, I connect my phone and it starts charging however iTunes doesn't see it.
Is this the iTunes used when you activated the iPhone? Is it an up-to-date version of iTunes?
If so, try connecting in recovery mode, start iTunes, connect the USB end of the cable, then while holding the home button on the iPhone connect the dock connector end of the cable to the iPhone.

and thats the main difference. Those tools are reading the saved Data in the backup
but itunes attempts to restore the data from the backup on your iphone. if there are any corrupted data in the backup - the backup restore goes wrong. this can happen during security software or wrong corrupt data already stored on the iphone.
if itunes messed up to restore from backup try this one :
- restore your iphone to factory settings using HT1808 or reset all settings and content direct from iphone
- rename your iPhone (e.g. iPhone Test)
- setup your iPhone as new device -> attempt to make a new backup - if successful -
- click in itunes on restore from backup... and choose your desired backup
or go to:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(Username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista - Windows 7: \Users\(Username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Pull your complete BackupFolder and try a different PC - copy the BackupFolder on this different PC in the same Path above - start iTunes and see if your Backup is there - attempt to restore from Backup again -
I don`t know how but I have lost all my photos that were in iTunes,any ideas on how to retreave them.I have tried deselecting the all folders when it starts syncing but it wont let me.

You can sync photos from your computer to your iPod via iTunes. You select in the Photos pane for the iPod in iTunes what folder of photos to sync to the iPod. -

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

iTunes says I have 2.5 gigs of music on my iPhone 5s but my iPhone says I have no content. Any idea where my music went to? I deleted all my music and started fresh with no music. iTunes will not import non-iTunes purchases from iOS devices. If you still have your old computer you can transfer your iTunes library to your new one.

ThanksI take it you didn't transfer purchases BEFORE you attempted to update your phone? If that's the case and you live in the US you can look at your purchase history and re-download the purchased music using iTunes. If you're outside the US, you're out of luck.

If your iPhone's keypad seems to stall for short periods of time and then resume, I would recommend putting the iPhone through this troubleshooting assistant:

Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.

Google advised me to change my password, which I have done on my iMac.
Mail is now accessible on iMac.
However, can still not access mail on iPad or iPhone even though I've resynced them with iMac.

ThanksSyncing with the Mac isn't going to do anything unless you synced the mail settings, and I'm not sure that you can do that any more with iTunes.
DId you try changing your password in the settings in the mail app? Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your account name>Account>Account information. You also need to make sure that the password is set in the outgoing mail server settings.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional. -

I just found my old ipod touch (i think 1st generation) and would like to let my toddler use it instead of my phone. I am trying to download apps but it say I need to update to 4.3 but it won't let me update. I have the most recent itunes. any idea why? I saw a thread saying to purchase the newest software (that was posted a few years ago) I paid 4.95 for the software and it's still saying it can't be updated. Am I just SOL??
The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

I got a notice to update my Itunes yesterday and after confiriming the dowload I got an error as listed above. I could not access my Itunes and the error keeps showing when I restart my pc. So far I have uninstalled all Apple programmes and tried to relaod without success. itunes will go through all the steps of reloading but then freeze at the point of launching the programme. Any ideas please?The Control page wants to run the following add-on" Control name is not available" from not available.
