iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
I did a search for GPS and founds lots of compatible apps. You might try typing GPS -tomtom to eliminate the tomtom apps.
WhatApp isn't compatible with the older devices, but enter Texting in the search box to find many texting apps which should work.

I only ask because today, for the first time, I had the appearance of a stuck key for a couple of minutes but I don't think I was even touching the keyboard, I suppose it could conceivably have been caused by a rogue biscuit crumb or something, but coincidentally it was the same key that you reported, the period key typing..............................................................

I have tried starting Firefox in safe mode and it still locks up. At first I could not access Yahoo mail, now it is starting to happen on other sites with no pattern. It is Windows 8.1 and Firefox 36.0.1.

If deleting then reinstalling the apps doesn't work, then contact the app developer for support.
It sounds, though, like your internet connection is simply very slow.
Try making a backup, then restoring the iPhone as new, and testing again. -

I recently bought an Ipod touch 2nd gen, (Ebay). It's in great shape and seemed to be wiped clean.
When I connect (via windows computer) to Itunes with usb cord the Ipod icon shows, but the only function you can do is eject. When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.
I purchased a song with Itunes on the Ipod itself, and it transferred to my library on the computer automatically .
I have an Iphone 5 and a nano that are still functioning with Itunes thru computer so I'm thinking the issue is with the Ipod touch. I've reset it several times, rebooted it, with no change.

I specifically bought and paid for an unlocked iphone 5 from APPLE so that I could use any wireless carrier I wanted to. I have been paying ATT WAYYY too much money the last 20 years. But for some reason APPLE wants to keep me from using any wireless carrier - and I can only use the carriers that APPLE will let me. WHY???? I paid my money!! I expected a lot more than I got. The only thing I can't do is send or received picture messages, but it makes me so Mad that I can';t do that!!!
If you bought an unlocked iPhone then it will work with any carrier but will work only under the restrictions or requirements the carrier sets for its customers. Apple has nothing to do with that. You are describing a problem of restricted access created by the carrer. If you cannot carry out the functions you want, talk to the carrier and see what limits they are placing on you. An unlocked iPhone is fully capable of all functions the carrer allows.

I downloaded a free game last night and since then under the shared tab in my finder it says "hp002655a82ea0" and the only info I can get about it is that it is a pc. Then under console I see several "stealth mode connection" attempts ti TCP 192.168.1.107:##### from 74.125.225.82.443. The second number has jumped around and sometimes starts with 192. I dont really know what those numbers are but how do I stop them from attempting to get through my firewall and kick them out of my shared tab??? Thanks to the gentlemen, Messrs. Galt & rack0 tack0, for their timely replies. I failed to mention in my original post that there are upwards of 15 Apple appliances in our house-- from Apple TV to 4 Apple iPhones to 4 iPads to 2 MacBook Pros to 2 iMacs to a 2TB Time Capsule-- we're all Apple, all the time. We don't own a PC and that was what was hanging me up. I did confirm, incidentally that we're IP6 (although, honestly, that technical jargon didn't mean a lot to me-- hey, I learned something [sorta]!). Anyway, after much digging, I've finally determined that what was/is being identified as a PC, is in fact a Canon MX860 Printer serving the "old" 21' iMac-- thankfully, our recently acquired Epson XP-410 serving the "new" 27' iMac is identified as such. And despite the time spent, a few valuable things occurred along the way, including a firmware update related to the Time Capsule... learn by doing, I guess. Thanks again.

Running a mid 2009 iMac on 10.7.5, 3 gb memory, 320 gb hd.
Suddenly the computer stoped reading DVDs and the only time I can read a CD is if I restart. Quite often when I insert a CD it gets stuck and I cannot get it out until I restart and it shows up on the desktop where I can then eject it.
I have checked and double checked the finder prefs and all looks normal showing a check mark on CDs,DVDs etc. (the ones I want to show up on the desktop)
I have reset the PEAM, repaired permissions with both the disk utility on the computer and the disk utility when I start up in the Recovery Disk. I did notice that sometimes the permission repeat the same correction several times before it moves on, and sometimes it doesn’t. I have Windows installed on a partition but I keep it unmounted until it is needed for my wife’s work. The dock seems to be just fine and all the apps seems to run just fine. When I insert a photo CD iPhoto does not open but when I insert a music CD iTunes does open.
Also, most every time I open iPhoto it takes a long time(sometimes as long as 2 minutes) for it to load.
Sometimes my Mail (Mail 5.3) does not post new mail but most of the time it does.
Once and a while it seems like the computer slows way down but then it seems ok ten minutes later.
All of these ‘things’ seemed to have happen suddenly and I have not downloaded anything from the internet in some time.
Of course the warranty and extended warranty are both no longer in effect having had this computer for more than three years.
I am running Java and Adobe Player because some of the sites I go to a lot require both.I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:

I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.

First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the Steps in this article to force the device into Recovery Mode.
