My iphone 4 stopped playing in stereo

Can't figure out whaT happened.  One day all songs playing normally in stereo on headsets and car next day right channel only????

You may have debris in the headphone jack.  Try blowing it out with compressed air and quickly inserting & removing your headphones multiple times to dislodge it.

  • IPhone stops playing Protected AAC songs

My iPhone stops playing songs in the middle.  All the songs that stop are Protected AAC songs-old purchases.  It happened on a 3G, and now on a new 4GS.  They play fine on my computer.  Sometimes it skips to the next song automatically, sometimes you can skip manually, occasionally it loses its way entirely.  It's been happening for the last few months, but not too often in my library.  It is perfectly repeatable for each song, down to the second it stops, but the timing varies by the song.

I actually have a song that plays back perfectly in iTunes. It also plays back fine when selecting the song on the iPhone through iTunes. However, when disconnecting the iPhone and playing it back just through the iPhone the song will distort after 16-17 seconds and skip to the next song. This doesn't happen however if I manullay skip the first 17 seconds of the song. It's a strange circumstance. I just decided to delete the song all together from my iPhone.

  • HT1689 My IPhone stopped playing any audio except the ringtone.  Any ideas?

My IPhone stopped playing audio such as my music or applications with audio.  The only sound it makes is the ringtone.  I read some blogs where people said to plug in headphones and then unplug them.  I tried that and actually had audio a couple of times but then it was gone again.  Any ideas?

You could have dust, or a partical in the headphone port that is causing your phone to think there are headphones plugged in. Look into the port and gently blow it out if there is anything in it.

  • IPhone stops playing music

My iPhone stops playing music.  It only happens and happens conistently on certain files, old  Protected AAC files I bought from iTunes.  It seems to happen mostly (or always) at the same time, one minute eight seconds in. I notice it most on Creedence Clearwater Revival Chronicle, but also on other music from the same era of my downloads.  Sometimes you can just skip to the next song, sometimes it has lost its way worse.  It happens on both my new iPhone 4S as well as my old 3GS.

They play fine on the computer, just not on the iPhone.

  • IPhone stops playing songs in middle then goes to next... why??

I noticed after the last update that my iPhone just stops playing certain songs in the middle of them and goes to the next one. I don't know what the problem is. It seems that cds that I have ripped and put on my phone work great all the time, but the ones that I download from iTunes and put on my phone don't work. I haven't had this problem until just recently and it's starting to get very annoying. Is there anything that I can do about it.... is this a common problem?

  • IPhone stops playing when I switch apps or lock screen

The subject says it all.  Recently updated phone to iOS 8.1, noticed this problem today.  Spotify will stop playing the track as soon as I leave the app (regardless of how I leave it), and refuses to play unless I'm in the application.
Looked through the forums... seems like some people had this problem a while ago, but nothing super recent.  Thoughts beyond uninstalling/reinstalling?  Really don't want to have to wait for all of my music to redownload to be stored locally if possible.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Hi there and welcome to the Spotify Community.
Today I experienced exactly the same.
Spotify was playing well, then I tried to play a video on Facebook. At that point Spotify automatically pauses, but when I resumed playing, I needed to keep the Spotify app opened, because when I open another app it stops playing.
For me to solve this problem was close the Spotify app and re-open it.
I had this problem only when there's another app wanting to play something, so I think the problem isn't at Spotify.

  • Music doesn't play in stereo

Some of my songs in iTunes have stopped playing in stereo. When I play them, I only hear certain tracks, while others are missing. This happens whether I am using my MacBook Air's built-in speakers, or plugged into external speakers.
These songs used to be normal. I did not adjust any settings.
    What's going on?

    Hello Priyanks,
I found an article with steps you can take to troubleshoot issues with an iPhone not connecting to your car stereo:

  • IPhone 4 stops playing music through AUX and/or Bluetooth

I recently updated to 5.1.1 and my phone will stop playing music through the headphone/AUX jack. Pulling out the cord and plugging it back in reinitiates the music, but it will stop soon afterwards again. The song is still playing (becauseplay icon still up). Thought it was a problem with the cord, but other iPhones (not updated--friends phones) work just fine for long periods with no interruption.
I checked out the headphone jack looking for lint or debris and did not find any, so I did a restore. After restore of phone same problem, random cutting out using the headphone jack.
This morning it is doing the same cutting out while playing music with my Bluetooth Bose speaker... so I tested it with my physical stereo system dock, again, music cuts out...
What is going on with my phone?
(Keep in mind that I've tested all my music devices--Bluetooth speaker, physical stereo dock, and car aux jack/cord with other NON-updated iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with no problems like the one I am having.)
    Thank you.

I can confirm that I have exactly the same issue - music cuts out when using headphones.  Sometimes it goes from play to stop and I can click play to start it again. Other times it stops (but is still playing) and I have to unplug and plug the headphone jack in again.  Seemed tgo start after turnign on iTunes Match - Although the songs that stop are not in the cloud - they are on my phone.  I have disabled itunes match to see if that will help and will report back...

  • HT1947 Does anyone else have my problem with atv3? Plays films in iTunes without any problems but on music every time I use the remote app on my iPhone 3GS it stops playing after around 5 tracks in. Anyone having this problem?

Does anyone share my problem with atv3 I can play films through iTunes without any problems. When I start playing music using the remote app on my iPhone 3GS after around 5 tracks in it just stops playing and seems to lose my connection. Hoping this is human error on my part?

I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Timer option changed to 'Stop Playing' from 'Sleep iphone'. Any idea on how to get the Sleep ipone.

In the iPhone 4S under the Timer, for the Option, When 'Timer Ends' it used to be a 'Sleep iphone'. After the iOS 5.1 update, I think, it is now changed to 'Stop Playing', which only stops the Music. Any idea how to - put the phone to Sleep mode.

    Thanks again Norman.
I desperately set about checking the option you provided, but good to know that you have noticed the same thing.
Yes we might need to wait for the update from Apple, but I am not sure how will this be noticed and acted upon.
The sleep option was very good to have, because it took care of the other apps for streaming music etc, and would stop all of them. Would you suggest anyway of raising it to the Support people?

  • How can I make the iPhone podcast app automatically stop playing after one episode?

How can I make the iPhone podcast app automatically stop playing after one episode?

When playing a song, are the controls at the top of the screen there? (Genius, Shuffle, Loop?)
If not, tap the center of the page once to expose them
now keep tapping the circle on the left part of the exposed controls untill a one (1) appears...

  • IPhone randomly stops playing sound out of iPod docks?

I recently plugged my iPhone 4 iOS6.0.1 (the new update recently put out by apple) and it has stopped playing sound out of any iPod dock I plug it into.
It plays sound normally out of the speakers and charges while on the dock. Has anyone had any problems similar and any solutions?
Also I have restored my whole iPhone this morning and it still has the same problem. My husband doesn't have this problem and he has the iPhone 3.
Is this a bug with the new iOS6.0.1 and is Apple going to put out a new update anytime soon to fix it? Or do I need to send my phone away.
    Thank you.

It can't be 3 years old since the 5G iPod was first introduced in Oct 2012
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

  • Airplay stops playing music from my iPhone 5 IOS7 after 5 minutes or so.

I want to listen to my music on my tv using Apple TV (latest Apple TV with latest firmware) from my iPhone 5. But after 5 minutes it stops playing. What can be done about this?

I have been scouring everywhere for a solution to a similar problem where the audio would drop out for a second or two ever 5 or so seconds - regardless of whether we were streaming content or using an iPad and Air Play.
I tried changing the audio channels on the ATV as suggested elsewhere and here - no luck.
Played with the settings on the Air port Express - no luck.
We swapped the ATV to a different tv and it worked fine.
Then played with the audio settings on the SONY Bravia - no luck.
Swapped the audio out on the ATV to play through the Air Port Express and plugged in the some headphones.  NO AUDIO DROP OUTS!
My deduction - a problem with the HDMI cable.  Borrowed a friend's cable - wasn't going to spend another $50+ if the cable wasn't the problem.  And lo and behold the HDMI cable was the problem.
    Only took 3 hours.
