my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple. no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple. Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac". Any ideas on how to correct this? This seems like a trivial error, but it's super annoying.
I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem. It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about. (there was a new iCloud release, hence...) No ETA for a fix yet. I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list. I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve). I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward. They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset. ;-)

Can you tell me the exact steps you took (moved files from which location to which new location - was this all within the Creative Cloud Files folder?)
The name of the files?
And can you send me your coresync.log file from the location below?
Coresync.log file location -
Win - C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync
Mac - /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/CoreSync-yyyy-mm-dd.log
(On Mac, you need to use the Go To Folder option from the Go option in Finder (menu at the top). Then in the pop up enter:
/users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/
Then select go, this will take you to the folder containing the .log files.)

Those were added by syncing from iTunes and need to be deleted by syncing again using the instructions quoted below from Sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in iTunes - Apple Support
Delete synced photos
In iTunes, locate and click on your device.
Click Photos.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
Click Apply.

Why can't I open and retrieve my files from iPhoto and my Address Book after importing the files from my Power Mac G5 to my new Mac Pro? I get a warning that says the new OS on my Pro doesn't open files from a Power Mac. Any idea how I can fix this?
For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. While doing the backup via iTune, my contacts in iPhone AND iPad have been completely wiped out. They are still all available on my Address Book on my Mac. Any idea what happened and how to resolve this ?
Install ClamXav and run a scan with that. It should pick up any trojans.

I have transferred a load of files from my PC to my iMac using the migration assistant. The message on both machines say that the process was successful but I can not find the files on the mac. Any ideas?
When you use Migration Assitant it creates another user account and puts your files there. Please log out of your normal account and log into the new account. Had you use Setup Assistant when it asked if you were migrating that would not have occured. You have a couple of options, combine the two accounts (not recommended) or start over, use Setup Assistant and have everything in one user account. Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.

Under Mailboxes in Mac Mail, I used to see Inbox (along with sub-Inboxes for each account, all of which are still there), VIPs (still there), Sent (still there), Drafts, Junk and Trash, all of which are missing, without me making ANY changes anywhere, either on Mac Mail or Gmail.
Any ideas ... or other people experiencing same issue? (Happened in my wife's account and I just assumed the kids deleted something, but then I went to my account where the kids never are and I found the same issue.)Do you mean that they are not listed under Gmail's header at the bottom of the Mailbox List or that they don't exist in the Unified Mailboxes at the top?
If they are not in the unified mailboxes, check down under Gmail and vice versa. If they are at the bottom under Gmail, select each separately and go to the Use Mailbox for command in the Mailbox menu. Set each one to what they are supposed to be, ie Trash, Junk, Sent, Drafts.
If they don't appear anywhere, log into Google's email website, go to Settings, click on the Labels tab and make sure those mailboxes are set to show in IMAP.
Finally, if they are IMAP accounts, just delete the accounts from Mail then re-add them. If you have a lot of email, it will take a while to synchronize, but it should recover those foldrs. If you are using POP, I'm not exactly sure how to save the old email, but I would assume Google is already doing that for you. -
Since I moved to OS X Maverick, I cannot synchronize my notes from iCloud to my Mac. Any idea how to overcome this? Thanks
I had this problem after updating too. On my Mac, I went into System Preferences>ICloud> and unchecked Notes. Then I restarted my computer and went back to System Preferences and checked Notes. The sync worked fine after that (at least for now!). Must be a bug in the update. Hope this works for you too.

My 3gs wont restore after ios 5 update. I have tried firmware restore and restore from backup, neither works. All I get is "iphone restore failed because backup session failed" Any ideas on how to make a successful restore with this ios 5 update?
I was having the same problem, I backed up my phone and then updated to iOS 5 and then it kept telling me it could not restore from my backup as it had failed. After reading a bunch of forums and posts and trying everything, I did manage to get it to work. I had tried the Time zone, creating a new computer user account, disabling anti-virus, etc.
It took a combination of things, one of which was disabling the anti-virus completely and copying the contents of the backup folder to my desktop and then deleting everything in the backup folder. Then I rebooted the PC, entirely disabled the anti-virus, copied the one backup I wanted to restore from the desktop to the backup folder and then trying to restore. Low and behold the phone said restoring from backup and I am back in business, so when in doubt, trying combining some of the fixes together. -

In addition to the very sound and useful information posted by Lawrence Finch, there is also a way to save the photos from the photo stream to the camera roll on the iPad so that even if the photo stream is turned off, the photos will remain on the iPad.
Launch the photos app and them open the Photo Stream album. Select every photo that you want to save by tapping on them, then tap in the action/sharing icon and select - Save to Camera Roll.
Having said that, the information that Lawrence shared with you is very important and the instructions in both articles are very useful. Make use of them. -
[latest macbook pro 15"] there are about 280 GB "other" on my storage, which came from no where. Any idea or suggestion of any fs manager? I am new with Mac OS X, and usually using finder to organize my files. I really don't know where these 280GB "other" came from. this laptop is used for my study, so I haven't used it for downloading vedios or musics which could be extremely large. (what about steam online like youtube? is there any temp folder that need to be cleaned manually in os x?)

The Other items could be items in the OS X folders such as the System folder and caches, personal information such as documents, contacts, calendar data, App Plugins or extensions, Media files that cannot be classified by Spotlight as a media file because they are located inside of a package, file types not recognized by Spotlight. Check out the article for more information.
