That would only happen if you entered the wrong passcode many, many. many. many, many times. Hard to imagine how that would happen with your own phone...
The only way around this is to restore the phone on the computer it was last synced with.

I need help my iPhone got disabled while on vacation we changed the sim to work in the country we were vacationing in and the iPhone locked itself. I have no access to my contacts. Need to figure this out ASAP. Please help. thanks a bunch.

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

Since the applications were purchased on the older account, you will need to log into that account to update them. The newer account will not recognize the purchases because they are not a part of the purchase history for the specific account.

After an unauthorized purchase on itunes was resolved (through paypal) and my phone was updated (3g) my appleID was disabled on my iphone. I can get it on my mac which makes me think it's something wrong with my phone. I believe this all happened when I had to connect with itunes for updates for my iphone to work properly.(it froze, telling me to hookup to itunes). I've changed my password due to the unauthorized purchases, but the confusing part is ....Mac works with ID but phone doesn't. Any ideas on how to restore without going to apple support & paying....this is ridiculous! You'd think simple solution....frustrated with apple completely! They make things way to difficult!
