My iphone 4 will not turn on-  have already tried using home/sleep button that has been suggested

My Iphone 4 is fully charged- and then suddenly won't turn on at all- I have read previous messages that suggested holding the on/off/sleep button and home button at same time to do soft reset- this has not worked- i have held them for as much as a full minute
Does anyone have any other suggestions

Try connecting your charger to it to see if it powers up; might be worth plugging it in to your computer to see if iTunes sees it.
If neither of those works, you need to bring the phone to an Apple store to be evaluated.

  • HT201263 iphone 4 will not turn on for anything. touching the home screen and lock screen still doesnt turn it on. what should i do

my iphone 4 was working fine yesterday and last night it just started cutting off and on by its self and now it doesnt want to come on at all. what should i do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem. Take it apart and verify that you reassembled it correctly. Next take it to someone with more experience.

  • HT4993 My iPhone 4s will not turn on. I tried to reboot my phone as well and it still will not turn on. What should I do?

This what happened. I accidentally dropped my iPhone and it blacked out. This same situation happened before, but when I rebooted it then, it worked perfectly fine afterwards. Now that this situation has happened again it is not working at all. I've looked on apple support, but it does not have this type of problem on it the page.
So how can I fix this problem?

sounds like you broke your phone.  Bring it to Apple for evaluation.

Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.

My iPhone 4 will not turn on, when I plug it into my computer and load up iTunes its in recovery mode and the only option is to restore my device to factory settings, I have no back up of my phone I've also tried the home/sleep button thing but nothing, I have literally done every method I was told, I checked for water damage and that's fine. I don't want to restore my phone or buy a new one or pay for repairs because that's wasting money when it could be a simple way to fix it. And yes, I've also tried charging it and turning it in. I really need some help with my phone

That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

It is usually given as a communication error between Apple, iTunes (your computer), iPhone. Somewhere they are not communicating, so the iOS you are trying to install cannot be approved by Apple. Trouble shooting steps include, making sure you have Current iTunes installed, make sure your Hosts file of computer is not blocking Apple. Try restoring on another computer.

  • My iphone 5 will not turn on ... i have held both buttons down at the same time and I get nothing ...it is fully charged ....any other suggestions?

My iphone 5 will not turn on ....I have held both buttons down at the same for a long time and get nothing ...it is fully charged ....and other suggestions?

The screen on my iPhone 5 (iOS 8.1.3) went dark after unplugging it from the PC.  I could still could see a backlight on the screen, but unresponsive.  iOS was hung in this state.
I opted to try a reset holding power and home button, which succeeded in turning off the phone.
After that, the screen went completely off.  Power button didn't appear to turn on the phone.
Upon plugging back to iTunes, I discovered, even as the screen was pitch black, the phone was actually able to power on, or off if I repeated the reset....I could hear the USB connection chime on the PC every time I powered on or reset.  The iOS was in some sort of corrupted state with no screen output.
I couldn't restore to factory settings, as iTunes requires I disable "Find My Phone" on the phone itself, which I couldn't do without screen output.  Also tried to put the phone in "Recovery Mode"...didn't work either.
    I finally succeeded by:
Logging in via web browser to iCloud, locating the phone with the "Find My Phone" web app, and triggering [Erase].  iCloud reported the phone was successfully erased.
After a minute, the phone rebooted itself and screen output worked again.
I then restored my data and settings from my last backup using iTunes without further issues.
    Hope this helps others.

    Hi lammyrock,
I want to let you know to be patient as this troubleshooting can take some time depending on many different. First try putting your iPhone into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. To do that, you can that by making sure that your iPhone is turned off, hold the Home button down while it is plugged into iTunes. You should get the graphic on your iPhone to plug it into iTunes and iTunes should prompt you to restore it. Once that is done and if you have a back up in iTunes or in iCloud, then you can put that back on after the restore is complete. Take a look at the article below for more information to help you.
