My iphone 4 will not update to 6.0. I keep getting and itunes error...

I keep getting the error "This version of iTunes (10.6.1) is the current version." when I click the update button to update to the ios 6.0 software. I already have the most current version of iTunes installed so I have no clue why I am getting an error that has anything to do with itunes. I've tried restoring my phone multiple times and restarting my computer. I've made sure there is plenty of space open on my hard drive as well. Not really sure what else to do.

  • HT201210 iPhone 4 will not update to iOS6 - new software keeps re-downloading but never installing

I was syncing my iPhone, left it, I came back upstairs and my iPhone was wiped saying it needs to be plugged into iTunes. I tried several times to update and install after downloading the almost 1G file and all that happens is that the file disapears and iTunes wants to download the file again. I do the same process again and it did appears and wants me to download it again. The iPhone 4 never updates.
The phone is wiped and I can't use it. Total brickhouse.
I have updated the iTunes software and I still have the problem. I originally never even asked for the update but somehow after syncing the phone it turns into a brick.
Never had a problem with the iPhone but this is a serious issue. I do not have the cash to buy a new iPhone and I do use this phone for personal and business verntures. I don't even have a house phone because the iPhone has been so reliable (now i may have to reconsider that idea).
    Any help?

For whatever reason the iPhone was in a recovery loop and it would not come out of it. Took it to thei iPhone store and they get it to fork. something about "DCU" ING the phone or something .
Lost all the data as I was not able to back up the phone before the crash.
    so is life.

  • After iOS8 update, iPhone 5s will not sync with my computer backup. Get an "unknown error" message.

iOS update seemed to crash or hang-up and phone was unresponsive. had to restore. still won't sync with the back-up on my computer. Help!!

    Hello jonsax

  • The App Store will not update my apps. I keep getting An error occurred while downloading the updates.(102) What could resolve this issue?

My App Store is no longer updating my apps or my OS. I keep getting this message: An error occurred while downloading the updates.(102) What could be the reason for this issue and what will resolve it?

I believe its an auth error. If you tried signing in and out of the app store and downloading a free app (typical fixes) and it persists, try downloading the updates manually. If youre trying to get the Mountain Lion updates the link for 10.8.1 is here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1571   and if you already have 10.8.1 and youre trying to update to 10.8.2 the link is here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1580 a supplemental update came for the 10.8.2 which can be found here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1600
Like I said before, the error isnt that your software or hard drive is corrupt, it has to do with your AppleID authenticating the download, especially because OS updates are part of the Mac App Store. If you know your way around your system libraries or root libraries you can possibly fix it by deleting specific files that may be corrupted, otherwise you're going to want to back up your data and reinstall the OS.
    Good luck!

  • HT4623 My iphone 4 will not update to the new ios 6.  My husbands phone did update.

My iphone 4 will not update to ios6.  It keeps saying there is an error.  My husband has the same phone purchased at thesame time and his updated just fine.

Same thing, but even worse because there also is not enough space to do the restore.  I think I am screwed and lost everything.  I HATE these updates, seems like there are always major issues!

  • HT201210 Iphone 4s will not update to iOS 7.  Says an error occurred.  I have to plug my phone into the computer also because it will not connect to home wifi.  All other devices will connect to wifi though.  I have enough storage to update also.

My iphone 4s will not update to ios 7.  I'm trying to update this through my imac because the iphone will also not connect to my home wifi.  I've tried several different things but nothing is working.  I deleted enough pics and apps so there is enough storage.  When i plug it in, it starts to bring all my photos to the imac. I cancel this because i don't want it.  It then says extracting software, backing up iphone, then i get the error message.  Do I need the iphone 5?

I just tried again, no code comes up on the imac.  Just says cannot back up this device with my "initials" because of an error.  It's weird because my iphone has been connected to othert wifi sources in the past. I've looked through these forums and have tried multiple things like resetting the phone, resetting network, shutting off modem and router, nothing works.  I have an apple airport extreme router too.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

iOS- Unable to update or restore
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes
Have you tried connecting to your computer and updating via iTunes?
You may have to do a full restore to upgrade:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • IPhone 4 will not update! HELP!

    Hi all,
My iPhone 4 will not update to IOS 5.0, an error message keeps coming up that that 'network connection timed out'. I'm connected to my Wi-Fi at all times.

I had the same problem. I waited about one hour with the progress bar on iTunes at about 50% and the progress bar on my iPhone 4 at about 20% with no further progress.
I unplugged iPhone, got the error message (9), shut down iTunes, restarted my Macbook Pro, did a hard reset on iPhone and then reconnected to my MBP. iTunes launched and notified me that my iPhone needed to be "restored."
I went ahead and did the restore, which took only about 8-10 minutes. I did not restore the prior iphone backup, but chose to synch it as a new iphone. All went well. It now shows iOS 4.2.1 and all I have to do is manually install the apps I want, etc....
    I hope this helps.
