My IPhone 4 with OS 5 recently quick going to landscape mode in messaging
Hi,
Up until two days ago my messages where able to go to landscape mode. I know the gyroscope is still functioning as Safari, pictures, etc, all go in and out of landscape mode. I have double click the home key and scrolled right to verify that the landscape mode was not locked. Yet it still won't go into landscape mode in either recieving messages or creating new ones. Any ideas?
Found in another post simply hold home key and power button to reboot IPhone. Worked like a charm.

I have an iPhone 6 with 64 GB of memory. I have iTunes Match turned on my account and on the phone. Suddenly, the Music app is only displaying music purchased directly from iTunes and no playlists are displayed. This occurred after updating iTunes Match on my PC; when new music did not appear, I turned off iTunes Match off/on the PC then did the same on iPhone 6. It looks like iTunes Match is trying to do a full download to the phone but it never completes. Ideas?

There may be a couple of different things I would suggest here. The first thing I would do would be to check and make sure the orientation lock is off.
iOS: Screen does not rotate
If the lock is off and the issue continues, I would recommend restarting your device. If the issue continues after the restart, reset the device.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Iphone 6 not going to landscape mode while in messages
For some reason when i try to type in landscape mode phone will not go to landscape more I have to close the app multiple times just for it to happen. Also bluetooth not working with any devices. And for some other reason while on FaceTime other people are saying my picture on there end was upside down.. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! Also when i double click the home button and try to go back into iMessage the keyboard is no where to be found for a couple of seconds..
Indeed the option to lock to portrait mode is not on in the control panel. The behavior of switching from portrait to landscape works fine in my hand, it's when the phone is in a holder that it does not detect the orientation and adjust accordingly. The iPhone 5 did this with no problem, but on iPhone 6 any app that allows landscape mode starts out in portrait mode and then does not automatically adjust. Rather you have to move the phone back into portrait mode and it's that motion of being re-oriented into landscape mode that finally triggers the switch.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

Problem with computing Font width while printing in Landscape mode
I have an application which prints a table and fills it with some text. I render it on a JComponent using the drawString(theStr, xPos, yPos) and the drawLine(rigtX, topY, rigtX, botY) methods in Graphics2D object. I want to take print-out of the table and also store the image of the table in, say, jpeg format. The print can be in Landscape or Portrait format depending on the size of the JComponent, which the user sets depending on the table size and the font size.
I have a paintTable( ) method which contains all the drawString( ) and drawLine( ) methods. This method is called from the paint( ) method of the JComponent to achieve normal rendering. The same method is called to get a BufferedImage of the Table. The same method is further called from the implementation of print( ) method from the Printable interface.
In the paintTable( ) method, I compute the pixel coordinates of the table grid lines and the texts positions in the tables depending on the font width and height obtained as shown below:

The problem I face is :
While Printing in Landscape mode the value of the 'width' variable printed as given above is becoming negative. Kindly see the values: FONT WIDTH HEIGHT [-9.37793,11.3203125]. This is happening ONLY DURING PRINTING IN LANDSCAPE MODE. This makes my calculation of table grid line coordinates and text positions completely wrong and the table goes out of place.
Kindly note that, there is no problem during normal rendering and BuffereredImage creation and also while printing in Portrait mode. The problem happens irrespective of Linux or Windows. The value of 'height' is always correct.
Kindly let me know: If the method I use to get the 'width' and 'height' is correct ? Is there any better way which will work fine in all platforms under all circumstances.

Recent netflix upgrade forces landscape mode. now unable to watch on a docking station
it doesnt make sense for netflix to force landscape mode to view movies. The ipad is designed to be able to be viewed in both landscape and portrait and there is a plug at the bottom of the ipad to charge and allow it to dock in an upright position. PLease how can we tell netflix to change it back?> Netflix support tells me it is Apple who changed it but i cant talk to Apple unless i pay money .

I have been trying to talk to Netflix CS via Twitter about this issue since the April update. Every time I mention it, at first, they are all confused and ask me if I'm getting an error message. Then they come back and say, "Oh, yeah. We removed that feature. Thanks for the feedback; we'll pass it on." The absolute worst response was when I mentioned the Kindle Fire allows portrait viewing. "Some tablets have different capabilities, but we are constantly striving for a uniform experience." Um, hello. We HAD a uniform experience until you took it away.
I don't understand what the "post play" feature has to do with screen orientation. Granted, I'm not a programmer, developer or any kind of computer whiz. But I would like to think that those two areas would be separate from each other.
I'd honestly trade the two seconds it takes me to hit play on the next episode, for the ability to utilize my iPad's portrait orientation the way I want to. -
All my inboxes emptied by my iPhone 4, with the most recent OS
My Iphone 4 is configured with 4 accounts, 2 of them gmail, 1 imap from a major university, and 1 groupwise.
I also used a 3G for 2 years and up to now with my iphone 4, never had an issue with my e-mail accounts before today.
Today I found that all my (and only) inboxes were emptied out. I called the Apple support and they suggested that I rebuild my iphone. Not sure if this is the solution I was looking for.
I ended up recovering all my gmail content in both of my accounts via viewing all e-mails. It was not in any particular folder, trash, deleted, labels, or otherwise folders but I can view it via all mails. I also recovered my imap inbox content by using our inhouse recovery tool. As for my groupwise acccount, no luck, my inbox content seemed to have vanished.
Now why would my iphone do this to me? have anyone heard of this? I am very upset about my lost work related e-mails. Maybe I'll have less work to do.The iPhone won't throw out any error messages. It will just crash or freeze up like happened to you. Your only options are to reset it by holding down the sleep and home buttons, akin to restarting your computer. Restore it in iTunes from a backup, but something may be corrupted and this won't work. Or restore it as new in iTunes as Apple suggested it sounds like. You could also visit an Apple store and have them run a diagnostic on the iPhone which I've heard from others will show OS crashes and potentially what caused it.
As for your emails, you should not lose anything. For your gmail accounts all those emails will be on Google's servers. So when you set up your accounts again with the iPhone (either IMAP or Exchange) everything will be pulled back from Google. For your university and groupwise emails you may want to contact the admins like I said to make sure they are not having any problems and your settings are correct. How do you have these accounts setup now?
Deleting your email accounts and then putting them back will basically reset them and it should be good again. What were you doing when the iPhone crashed?

There is no way to modify the existing keyboard. However, iOS 8 allows for adding third party keyboard. Search the App Store. Another keyboard may better suit you.

Recovery mode as in a USB connector icon on the screen?
Did you backup prior to the upgrade to 8.1.3?
Did you have iCloud engaged?
You have lost you txt. messages on your apple app.
But some 3rd party chat apps to hold data in your iCloud backup, you will not know till you try. -

If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?
